This is a rendered video of the full scale Raptor engine used on the StarshipVR experience showing its thrust vector control's 15º of motion.
StarshipVR is a full scale Starship VR experience under development, where you can have your own rocketship yard with all the Starship program rockets, such as Starhopper, Mk1 Starship and Superheavy.
When development is complete, you'll be able to experience a Starship launch from up close, or even get inside of it and land on mars, being the first to step on the red planet.
Learn more about StarshipVR on patreon.com/starshipvr.

Always amazes me how the hinges manage to work when they’re crushed between the weight of the rocket and the thrust of the engine.

As a Software Developer I would have desig8it different, well its cool and all but as it's going to space and back, I would have added another 2 of those actuators or servos or whatever they are, for redundancy in case one fails or even if 2 fail it may still have a chance.. I know it heavier but it's safer if people will be in there.. Sweet Keep well and be safe everyone! 😁🇧🇬🛸
@marioghioneto1275
@marioghioneto1275 3 года назад
Well the mechanical engineers at spaceX who worked on Raptor surely thought about that and reached the conclusion that it’s not worth the added complexity
@ivanjdrakov1957
@ivanjdrakov1957 3 года назад
@@marioghioneto1275 yeah, for robots and such its OK, but if you wanna be landing people with that, real, live people.... Then I personally think that every system which could potentially fail should be doubled at least, so redundancy of everything which may fail... And I'm talking about mutually exclusive, combinatorial redundancy. That's just my opinion only, I'm not a Space Engineer so yeah... Sweet 😁🛸🇧🇬 Keep well and be safe bro!
@salmiakki5638
@salmiakki5638 3 года назад
@@marioghioneto1275 I'm pretty shure that the limiting factor in adding actuators and relative valves was not complexity, not in a full flow staged combustion engine that is orders of magnitude more complex than any hydraulical system, but rather added weight (weight that directly goes against specific impulse,the parameter that you want to maximize the most in a rocket engine )
@salmiakki5638
