+206LaKi The information I've published and my progress on the project are unfortunately very different. By last May I had completed a partial altitude launch (from 25000ft) using my third prototype aircraft. The aircraft failed to return to the launch site so we used the onboard GPS tracker to find it 75 feet up a tree about 8 miles off target (after traveling 22miles from the launch point). Unfortunately (and this really kills me), the camera stopped record a few seconds before launch. I have no idea why. Because I had modified the ArduPilot code so extensively, I was unable to recover the Dataflash logs, so I don't know exactly what failed. But the telemetry data indicated that the aircraft had successfully reached the target altitude, detached, and switched into descent mode. It is entirely possible that the glideslope just wasn't enough, and it failed to traverse the distance, but it's also possible that the thing failed completely, and fell with the wind. Either way, I was enormously disappointed to have lost all my data. I started a full time job and then college a few months later so I haven't returned to the project since. I have enough footage from prototyping for a few more videos, but I think I'm better off just explaining what went wrong moving on until I have more time :(
+RaptorTech Sorry to hear that, but even though it wasn't perfect, you have learnt alot. Keep doing what you love to do. And your videos definitely needs more views. Make an article about the project on RcGroups or Flitetest, it will keep you motivated :)
+RaptorTech well the music just seems slightly slower and a little less dramatic than a typical channel trailer, however if that was the intended effect of the video, then props man!
Seems like it! My twice-rebuilt "The Fish" should be flying tomorrow. I just laugh out loud when I see it in the air. Made out of 5mm under-laminate-flooring sheets - just to see if I COULD . . . which is as good a reason as any other.
