Such a rare performance to hear. 👍 I really enjoy hearing this vocal era 1995/96. You can hear her deeper tones much more along with her younger voice in places. A real mix. 🎧 Although tired after a long world tour and waiting to exhale was around the corner.. Wish she could have performed live abit more in 1995/96.
Everyone else is posting this performance in a higher key ... Her tone here is identical to the other vocals we have from this night (IWDWS, SAMFLY, Lover For Life). And the original poster did say this was the real key. I think Whitney performing this in a lower key was the very reason we got the interesting vocal choices in the climax where she went for higher notes in both chest & head voice
Thank you @GR-kh7co for sharing this ultra rare performance. I am so happy we are getting more performances from this era (waiting to exhale era). Hope you enjoyed the video😊 Starts at 1:27 Climax 5:08
Yeah the 1994-1995 portion of her voice needs to be studied. Here she sounds so raspy and tired and only sound herself in the head voice. I believe she should've insisted on medical advice on what was going on with her.
@@scottramsay3455 Then listen to her "Lover for life" Brunei 1995 versus South Africa 1994 and tell me if it is "just" relaxation and maturation. I can tell you offhand that it's neither of those things you speak off, sadly. Even the FIFA world cup 1994 sounds vocally off (as well as the South African performance).
@@scottramsay3455She does sound fatigued for real though, especially in comparison to her late 1994 performances (South Africa, White House, Radio City) where she actually already sounds tired at that point. The Singapore concert that took place a few days after this is apparently much worse. She was performing non stop for two years straight it's crazy.
The reason she sounded raspy is from developing vocal nodules around mid July 1994. That was around the time she had to perform for the World FIFA Soccer Tournament. Her voice was shot and she had to use a safety tape, which they had her record about 3 days prior to her voice being shot. She lipsynched during that soccer tournament. The doctors warned her to relax her vocal cords. She was in a hard situation because she was worried about the band not getting paid and the backup singers not getting paid if she took a long break to rest her vocal cords. Instead, she continued the rest of The Bodyguard Tour which ended in November 1994. I’m pretty sure she was still singing, talking in interviews, preparing for her role of Savannah in Waiting to Exhale. Even in that movie, her voice was hoarse.
@deadwalke9588 she didn't need medical advice she needed rest!! She was literally singing back to back without rest! South africa she was tired, but she still sounded amazing but she didnt stop she kept going. After SA, she started filming, waiting to exhale, and did various perfomances here and there. At that point in time she needed rest more than anthing else!! And at the fifa world cup she was adviced by her doctor not to sing, (as she had either torn her vocal cord or was facing somehting else) so as a precautionary measure a backing track was played!
@@Waiting_to_Exhale_era we all know she never changed this until 2001 (since it was the last year she sang in G#-Bb key). In here, it sounded like a bit male voice
