That is one Jaw Dropping, vintage KX. Crazy, that it's that powerful, that Billy felt the need to warn you about it, when you ride CR 500's daily, without any effort, as if you're playing with them. Lol

I've got my 79" green machine sitting in my garage. An absolute blast to ride. I ripped out the aftermarket ignition system that came with it when I bought it a few years ago and replaced it with original Kawasaki parts. Very expensive but worth it. Stuck a brand-new carb on as well and it makes this thing rip. And you are correct, the 79' KX250 production run was way less than the CR's, RM's and YZ's of the same year.

I was one of the few very lucky people to own this very bike, if you raced this bike and weren't bringing trophies home every weekend than you should have hung it up, I raced this bike in 250 and open, won all the time, in both classes, I think this is the best bike ever built, I know it could run with anything built today, if I could get my hands on this bike.

@robbchastain3036
@robbchastain3036 Год назад
@@PerryPariah Definitely dirt and hopefully with some regularity. Not a fan of owners filling up their den with dirt bikes, or any kind of bikes, and never letting them see the light of day. Ride 'em, share 'em, live large with 'em. 😀

@@robbchastain3036 I totally agree, no better way to appreciate and enjoy a piece of history than to fire it up and let it breathe!!
@robbchastain3036
@robbchastain3036 Год назад
I want to be respectful as surely there are some owners whose bodies don't permit them to ride anymore, just that they really want a specific motorcycle to own and cherish. Or maybe owning does mean never riding because they're so happy to have it and want it to retain high value for their children or such. Yet, certainly, life is short and too short not to ride the dirt bike or street bike of your dreams at a fun speed or share it with friends and family. And I like how these vintage drag races are being held, just runs down the quarter-mile as a big social gathering, no winners or losers, just a day of speed and fun and memories and run-whatcha-brung. And off-road bicycle riders are doing the same with gravel events/races, a hundred miles or so on farm roads and single-tracks and all sorts of off-road terrain, with some riders contending for prizes but most showing up for the challenge and community. And I've mentioned it before, yet it remains mind-blowing to me that Ken and his crew are sourcing these cool old motorcycles and making each worthy of a magazine cover and then letting us purchase them a half-century after they were originally on the showroom floor. 😀

The first bike i through a leg over in my apprenticeship. Bob Burgess mods to chamber 1.65 mm raised exhaust port cant remember the jet size we went to. Rear brake liner in the hub which was pinned in a weird way used to let go machined the Magnesium out and put a steel insert locked in with6 m6 screws. rear shocks were solid a bit more preload on the springs with a 45 mm preload spring out of a Macio (company I worked for imported Macio back in the day when know wanted to know about them fucking rocket ships) from memory. Front forks same more spring preload remember that one Z1000 outer valve spring and a machined collar to tie them together. good with 2 teeth down on rear for about 170KMH at a desert race
