RARE No FG Kennedy Half Dollar Worth Thousands! My Coin Shop Website portsmouthcoinshop.com/ Mint State RU-vid ru-vid.com/show-UCYYiBSXFIqynR2zren_pIlQ
I really appreciate the video I like it how you don't give us fake news you guide us and you assist us to understand and to determine if we should send our coins in to get graded and that is a #1 question new collectors and even people that have been collecting for years that never have submitted coins thank you Mr Daniel
Paul sounds like you’re more than half way there my friend. You’ve got the “No FG” coin, and the magnification 😇. As Daniel suggested, remember to submit for the attribute and post an unboxing. Go for it and Good Luck. 🍀
@@everettwhite9874 Thank you I will. I have several I've found, different denominations plus errors and such but I can get them graded until tax time. Have a great day.
I search thru tens of thousands of halves a year and I started looking for NoFGs about 2 years ago and finally found a 1972-D "NoFG" where you can see part of the FG very faintly. I showed it to an ANACS guy at a local coin show and he said it probably would grade as a NoFG and he thinks it's worth $50 graded and at least $30 or so ungraded.
Daniel, thanks for bringing these no "FG" KHD's to our attention. I have found several 1972-D KDH's with missing designer's initials from bank rolls over the years. Unfortunately, none of them in Mint State or higher. I have a bit of personal history I wanted to share with you about this variety. I have been a member of CONECA since 1998. In 1999, I submitted what I consider the best graded coin I had of these 1972-D No FG KHD's to Dr. James Wiles. He sent the coin back, and stated at that time that, "There is very little interest in the No "FG" varieties. I don't see the 1972-D gaining in popularity" (direct quote from his letter which I still have). Ironically, the 1982-P No FG was included in his Kennedy Half Dollar Attribution Guide that was printed and released the year before. Anyway, I later sent my 1972-D KHD "No FG" to the late J.T. Stanton at his request. He considered the 1972-D as legitimate, and after inspecting it, he not only returned this coin to me, but also sent me a close up photograph of the area of the coin missing the designer's initials. J.T. thought is was so important a variety that it was included in the Cherrypickers' Guide 5th Edition Volume II on page 321. Thus, the coin you see pictured in the book was actually MY COIN (I have since sold it). I also submitted the 1973-D DDO and 1977-D DDO for the book, and my name is mentioned in the credits & acknowledgements under the name Lee Roschen. Also, about 1 year ago, I cherrypicked a sharp BU 1982-P KHD "NO FG" variety (FS-901) from a coin show in Watertown, SD for a measly $9.00!!! I would grade this virtually flawless coin as at least a MS66! However, between PCGS and NGC, which grading service would you recommended I send this coin to to increase my chances of achieving a MS67 grade??? Any input would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks again for all of your informative, educational videos, and have a Happy Christmas season. You are doing an incredible service for the numismatic community!!!
I have a no F, but very little bit of a G, I have seen no "FG", coins graded and could see a bit of those initials. I agree with you about graded noFG's, that clearly can be seen. Cool show Mr.Daniel. 👍
I sold three 82 No FG Kennedy’s on Great Collections and still have two left. Also have three 72 No FG raw. If you look at All of PCGS 1972 No FG photos on coin facts several have remnants of FG. Thanks
I'm subscribed to coinweek, I enter their giveaway every week, haven't won anything, but there's always a chance I could. Within the next few days I'll be able to see if my ANACS MS67 1964-D 1c crosses over. I also sent two other coins I sent that I'm not as worried about the grade but just wanted in a pcgs holder. Thank you for another video.
Awesome video!! Helped me get rid of a bunch of Kennedy Halfs that I was holding on to because they 'might' be a no 'FG'! Always appreciate the content you put out, Daniel!
Much easier to find Walkers with no designer initials than in the Kennedy series, I think. There are so many varieties in common coins that have been found in the last 30 years that it makes one wonder if there will be a day when there will be no such a thing as the normal strike, only varieties. I think some varieties are worthy of notice and others not: No-designer-initials coins definitely are. I picked up and looked at an old mint set the other day, examined the Denver Ike dollar and saw an RPM on a coin with some minor doubling. I looked over the web for a few seconds: Sure enough there are like 12 such varieties of this sort of Ike in the year. Is it worth trying to determine which one it is?
I wish I had seen this sooner. I took "no trace" to mean no trace. I went through several hundred dollars of halfs yesterday and found an FG that couldn't be seen with a magnifying glass but could see traces under a microscope. It went in the discard pile and was a nice coin to boot. It'd be an ordeal if I try to locate it again .......... Christs sake. Thanks for the info.
Love the information you give to us all. I have a question for you about a 1926 wheat cent that is silver in color, with no mint mark. I can’t find any information about it but it’s in pretty good shape and has the wear of a coin that age. It weighs 2.9 grams. I bought a 4 bag of wheat cents collection from the Coin Vault last week and found it in one of the bags. Have you ever heard of a 1926 wheat cent struck on the wrong planchette or anything about this? I took some pictures but I can’t post them here I will try your email address if I find it. Thank you..
Thank you for the quick breakdown on NO FG Kennedys- grading question: Grading companies charge a fee for variety verification- is that when asked or, for every variety? I.e. i send in a 1953 Jefferson nickel, hot lips, full steps with a 25 % clockwise reverse rotation, paying the standard fee, will they not include those varieties in the grade and description? I mean, that's what im paying them to do . heres my coin tell me what it is and its condition.
I have 35 Kennedy half dollar (3 1971)(1 1973)(2 1974) and the rest are 1972 two of them with no FG initials. Hardly circulated looks brand new, how can I sell them or have them graded first before putting them in the market?
I just literally found a 1981 Kennedy Half Dollar with just the F initial missing on the reverse. I've been trying to do research but I can not find a price on it. Any suggestions?
I've seen RFT send in a no fg variety and it DID have trace of initials there and they still gave him the designation. No lie. This is exactly why I will NOT send any of my coins in for grading. It's too costly and really it's only to get someone elses opinion. There is no consistency to these grading companies whatsoever, NONE OF THEM.
@@numismaticstacker rft sure does come across some amazing finds, I will say that! I've found a PILE of no FG 72 Ds cause i go through 14 boxes of half dollars a week, i should say I've got piles of every half dollar variety or error there is lol. But maybe only a few of those are mint state, I now only bother with ones that appear BU-UNC cause anything lower it's just not worth the time. Btw brother I love your channel!!! Wished you kept your old name lol, I was used to it haha
@@wisconsincrhunter5614 thanks bro. Yeah RFT is exceedingly lucky at finding wonderful specimens. Makes me scratch my head. I when through $600 face value of quarters and never found a ddr or ddo and found only 9 type B rev. No type c. I guess I'm not that LUCKY.
RFT is the King of RU-vid coin hunting. Thousands and thousands of coins you'll find something. Unfortunately anything prior to 1856 is almost impossible to find in bank boxes. I have been running a vending machine company since the 1960s and have found some unusual coins and slugs. Pinball machines where great for quarters and gumball and wishing wells where great for pennies.
@@numismaticstacker I've found some amazing coins myself, I'm just not making videos on them. Kinda stopped doing cause there are certain youtubers that live near me and know where I hunt at so when I'd make videos about my finds they would suddenly go to my bank and order tons of coins or go to my LCS and buy them out of whatever it was I hunted on my channel, like wheat pennies. I just pulled out a 1922 No D with strong reverse, many mint state 1909 VDBs, 1931 Ss, 1914 Ds, 1909 Ss, 1924 Ds and MULTIPLES of every early teen with mint Mark's. I've found a few ddr quarters as well when I hunted them. I've been lucky but not the kind of luck RFT has haha.
Hi, I have 1, dollar coin 1922 peace , I need to Know if you can help me what to do first because a want to sell, I am thinking to send to PCGS ,please help thanks 🙏
