I was in 7th standard when I watched this match (30 years ago from now). The Kiwis were hot favourite in this world cup yet annihilated twice by Pakistan 🇵🇰🤲🙏💖.
So no more 92 glories...we probably miss 2 possible matches...WIvSA and NZvZim... It will be really great if you can find them too...BW...excellent job so far....
Great footage. A young looking Peter Williams and even had the late Peter Sharp doing the pitch analysis. Why Rod Latham was ever in the team I'll have no idea, especially at the expense of John Wright.
Pride hath a fall... Pakistan team was the lowest amongst good teams whereas New Zealand was at the top in the WC 1992... But Pakistan beat NZ badly...
Ramiz Raja. 16 boundaries in the innings, 14 on the leg side and one edge. Bowlers were really wayward back in those days. If you get hit for 14 fours on the leg side by one batsman in an innings, the modern coaches will burry you in that very ground. )))),
Still you would not be able to score 350 runs as the bowlers were much more lethal and there were no three circles Also there was no power plays as they were introduced in the year 2005 by ICC So imagine facing Wasim Imran and Aqib knowing that there is no field restrictions in the first 10 overs and no limit of bouncers as well and the pace will be above 140KPH
HAD the legendary all rounder in the New Zealand cricket team Sir Richard Hadlee captained the kiwis squad in 1992 World Cup then they MIGHT HAVE beaten Pakistan twice INSTEAD OF loosing to them twice.
Two calls were seemingly deliberately made against Pakistan. Moin khan stumping the NZ batsman, where the batsman's foot was in the air. and the false wicket of Amir Sohail which was indeed a no ball clearly.
Imran Khan (IK PM) was an all-time great in two disciplines (bowling and captaincy), and Test standard in a third (batting). No other cricketer in entire history can match this. Look at it this way - in bowling he averages as McGrath or Marshall (22.8), in batting his average is identical to that of Lamb and Atherton (37.8). His bowling stats are the most balanced for all bowlers in history who have taken over 300 Test wickets - against all countries, home or away, he averaged sub-30. Achieved the highest ICC Test Rating ever since pitches started to get covered post WWII - 922 in 1983. History's greatest ever bowler-skipper: 187 Test wickets @ 20.2. That's not the end of it - as a skipper, he averaged 52 with the bat! Imran Khan is easily history's greatest-ever all-rounder, as Sobers, although regarded and an all-time grant batsman, was not Test standard as a bowler (averaged 34, S/R of 93 balls per wicket). Whereas Imran Khan, regarded unquestionably as an all-time great bowler, was also Test standard as a batsman (averaged as much as Atherton and Lamb). Sobers was a mediocre skipper, and Imran is one of the, if not, the finest-ever captain. Moreover, the value of a bowling all-rounder is worth much more than that of a batting all-rounder. Imran Khan's captaincy skills were magnificent, he was the pioneer in multiple dimensions - be it for the introduction of neutral umpires, using strike bowlers in short spells, focusing on wicket-taking instead of run-restriction in ODIs etc. Wisden's ex Editor Tim De Lisle reckoned if an all-time Test XI would be assembled, Imran Khan would be the natural choice as skipper. Serial Man-of-the-Series Awards winner ever since that feature got introduced in the early 1980s. Trailblazing fast bowler, who inspired generation of genuine fast bowlers from Pakistan. so selfless, he refused to play weak opposition in the final few years of his career, citing lack of motivation as the reason. Once declared team innings when himself batting in the 90s! Regarding his quest for success and taking up challenges, Imran Khan's famous words were, "I am not afraid ever of losing. I just hate losing." He was the team's de facto coach and spokesman too. Imran Khan, thus, is truly unmatchable in cricket history.
@@yildrimyildrim2103 i know there are many Pakistanis like you who supports corrupt leaders like Sharif and Zardari ... haram ki jo khane ki adat hai tum log ko ...
I think the rule for WC '92 was had Aus qualified for the semis, they would play it in Sydney, probably to bring more crowd at SCG since it would be a home game.In that case 1 vs 4 would've been in Sydney.
B kangi waseem akram once said that marin crow was the best batsman against reverse swing.. he was the only player at that time who could play pakistani reverse swing with ease... he was awesom no doubt..
Batting in 1992 World Cup consistently failed . Amir sohail played only against Australia, Inzamam played in three matches as a good batsman, ijaz ahamed and Saleem Malik did not do anything . Only Rameez Raja and Javaid Mindad keep makings runs in the tournament.
Aamir Suhail played 3 good knocks ok and in first 7 matches he was world top scorer but unfortunately in last group and semi final vs new zealand and in final vs england he couldn't perform
Aamir scored 114 against Zimbabwe, 76 against Australia and 62 against India. Ramiz scored two centuries and no fifty. Miandad scored 5 fifties in 9 matches.
NZ threw the game in that Andrew Jones was incompetent captain and failed to implement advice from Crowe (who was off field hurt) in how to curtail Inzie Ul-Haq
Despite Martin Crowe saying at the toss, when asked whether NZ were playing to win, that NZ were indeed playing to win, it was clear from the way NZ played this game that they were not perturbed in the slightest in losing this game for (a) it would mean they would play their semi-final in Auckland (where they had remained unbeaten during the round robin) and (b) it would mean Australia would not qualify for the semis. As it turned out, the gamble didn't pay off for Crowe personally (with him sustaining an injury in the semi) and NZ, who lost to Pakistan again in the semi. Just goes to show, play the opposition you are dealt with and don't try and over think the permutations.
From the body language of kiwis they were happy after loosing this match as Pakistan's win ensured that Aussies are knocked out of the world cup..... 26:29 (watch the way Crowe laughed) and 30:29 (he didn't have any intentions to ran the batsman out). I realized even at that time that Kiwis just threw it away.
Did U see the score of Miandad?? 30 runs fom 85 balls...and he was in form as well...so the bowling was tough, and the kiwis did not throw the game..Towards the end theye were laughing becoz they have already qualified - and they also know this loss will eliminate their rivals Australia...But its does not mean they threw the game completely...Give credit to Wasim Akram and Ramiz Raja for taking Pakistan to the semi final..@30:29 the bowler did not collect the ball properly..Thats definitely not fixing.
Which makes me wonder................. Cause having watched the toss again he seemed to hesitate slightly with his answers. Perhaps a bit of tanking went on that day
Imran Khan looks better than any Bollywood actor. He could even fit in Hollywood. One of the most handsome Pakistani men alive and generally one of the most good looking men the sporting world has ever known.
Interesting comment Martin Crowe made at the toss about the idea of having to play a Semi Final in Sydney. So it wasn't a case of the 1 v 4 Semi being in Auckland and 2 v 3 in Sydney? They'd won 7 from 7 and were going to finish top anyway.
That's right. There was a gentleman's agreement between Australia and New Zealand before the tournament that even though Australia were the main hosts of the tournament and New Zealand the sub-hosts, Australia would play their group match against New Zealand in New Zealand. In return, should they meet again in the semi-finals, Australia would host the semi in Sydney regardless of where New Zealand finished on the ladder.

Dear Australia already tournament si out ho chuka tha yeh match new zealand sirf esly hara k they wanted to play semi final infront of there home crowd
Dear 18 March ko aus vs wi and nz vs pak match tha .Australia ne west indies ko defeat di thi. Aus ke 8 points ho Gaye thy. Pakistan ke 7 point thy. Pak ko nz ko last match me harana tha. Nz Australia ko semifinal me nahi chati thi. Nz ko Australia se dar tha. 2015 world cup final me Australia ne nz ko haraya tha. Lakin legue match me nz ne Australia ko haraya tha. 92 me nz yeh nahi chahti thi. Nz ko Pakistan Australia ke comparison me thik lagi. Nz ne semifinals me 260 run banaye wasim akram ,aqib javed, mustaq Ahmed jaise bowlers ke against banaye. Lakin legue match me 172 run hi Bana paye.
@@anuragsonker9132, kiwis were not scared of aussies but there was a different issue altogether. Kiwis and Australia had a friendly agreement that if Australia vs kiwis semifinal was ever to take place in that World Cup then the semifinal would be played in Australia. Kiwis wanted to play semifinal in newzealand at Auckland. So their first loss in the World Cup in this match eliminated the other home team Australia from the World Cup and hence kiwis were going to play the semifinal at home either against Pakistan or westindies. There were more chances of them facing Westindies because westindies were clear favourites in the last group match and they just needed a win in order to qualify and knock out pakistan out of World Cup. As I believe it was our destiny to win the World Cup and Pakistan won it against all odds.
