This rare Porsche 550RS Spyder was sold for a record £4,593,500 at the Goodwood Revival's Bonhams auction, making it one of the most valuable Porsches in the world.
Soooooo, there you have it! A real car, a carrier of people, that was made to be driven and used by the mortal children of mothers and fathers...on the land surface of mother Earth! Is it True? Yes and I have sat in the seats, ridden with my mate Fred in this little car. Shared the care and protection of this car.....with many other human care givers...and am glad it is still in existence for the new owners. This #90 550 RS Spyder was not ever raced in a professional race. It was owned and driven by people who wanted to ride and drive it for personal and family fun experiences in POC and PCA events from 1956 through all of these years. The 550's that were "raced" in track events....to compete...were all damaged beyond their original paint and Aluminum body surface. I'm glad that we "babied" this car while we had it in our care and protection. Gail Patricia Sebald.
I meant the model car, not this car in particular. And, very sad to hear this little baby never raced. A car who was born to race, never raced. But, hey, you have £4.6 M in your bank account, right?
We sold this car for less than "5,000.00 in 1972...and it has been owned by two other people since that time. The only reason that it is still original and so valuable is because it was NOT Raced to destruction of it's body and engine....by any of it's owners and care givers. Cars are not "born"...as living beings! They are hand made by mortal people for the use of being carriers of living beings. Don't be sad...be happy that the car still exists to be appreciated by those who now own it!
