What an extreme spectacle, and Reed said that the debris line showed it wasn’t even at the peak incursion. Pounding, flooding waves, crazy wind loaded with ice pellets, spray and snow, and so loud that even Reed’s maximum volume (which is significant) was hard to hear over the roar. Thanks for letting us see this. Thank goodness storms like this are rare.
I'm about 2 miles from the lake. This is by far the craziest weather I have seen in 45 years. I lost power 3 hours ago and that's never happened in my neighborhood before lol. Snow I'm used to but all this at once is ridiculous
I'm in East Aurora...still getting hammered as much as Hamburg and Orchard Park. Where you residing? Possibly Lancaster? This will shift further north Saturday morning and hit Akron, N. Tonawanda, Kenmore....etc.
Thank you for getting these videos, I was going to go to work and walked right back in the house and called in. Never in my 38 years have I seen anything like this, be safe out there!
I'm gobsmacked. Kudos to Reed for bringing us that footage. How could you even go out in that weather? Was surprised the power was still on. It looked more like an ocean rather than a relatively small lake.
I live in Niagara Falls, 25 mins from Buffalo. It got bad here as well. Extreme winds. Near total whiteout. The mist from the falls immediately turned to snow/ice so we got double the snow at the Rainbow Bridge where I work. Just insanity!
My heart sunk when you said people's homes are being flooded in Hamburg NY. I pray that you mean their yards only. Not their actual hopefully warm and dry homes. Keeping y'all in NY in my prayers again today! Buffalo 2022 A Winter To Remember! Dr Reed Timmer Visited Twice! 😳🌊🏄🥶😉✌️❤️🦋🙏
I've lived in Buffalo most of my life and have never seen a storm like this before. We get snow decent sized snow events every couple years but it's usually just snow and not windy like this. Crazy.
My god, if you have to pee Reed, DON’T PEE INTO THE WIND. If you pee with the wind, you will achieve some incredible distance. Maybe world record territory. Aim high!
You should check out the washing machine on Route 5. That's always a gnarly time. Called that because if you drive past it during weather like this, welp, you'll see. Few years ago someone parked in that spot, and later his car was solidly encased in ice. Quite the carsicle he had.
Back in the old days, when the circle still existed, my school bus from Frontier H.S. had waves wash over it as we negotiated from Big Tree Road onto Route 5 past St. Francis, Hoak's and the extinct Foit's.
Hello Lake Erie! This weather gives you brain freeze and cold feet at the same time! Great coverage of the seiche Reed! Someone get this man a Tim Horton's!
BRO....i cannot believe how accurate your Grand Rapids and Buffalo snow forecast was....i mean SPOT ON. God bless, stay safe and have a Merry Christmas
Oh hey Reed’s in Buffalo! 👍🏼 I’m about a mile from the water and on the 5th floor and wish I could see the lake. Still power downtown. I’ve never seen a storm like this (41 y/o). Stay safe!
You Captured this Unusal Winter Weather Phenomeon Like a Champ, as Always Reed!! Thank You So Much for Your Courage!! Please Stay Safe, We All Need You!! God Bless You Always!!🙏💕
Sometimes your passion for extreme weather makes me wonder sometimes if we'll ever see you alive again because you're crazy to be standing in the teeth of a great lakes winter tempest like that as if it is your final will and testament to us. Be safe outhere Reed and don't get locked in the ice because it'll be the spring thaw before we can break you out 😄
Thank you for filming this. I'm one of the islands of Lake erie right now and this is a record Sieche. We can walk between islands. The water is completely gone in some parts. Would love to share some pictures.
1844, a 22-foot seiche breached a 14-foot-high sea wall killing 78 people and damming the ice to the extent that Niagara Falls temporarily stopped flowing. According to NORA
Seiche events are actually a common thing here in Buffalo... Looks like your near the Naval Park and the Buffalo Light house. Level of severity is dependent on the wind strength blowing up the length of Lake Erie.
I live in N GA & have been all over as an Army wife. I've never ever seen temps and weather like these... especially here. My mother in law flew into Atlanta from N Cali. They're driving into the Appalachians now. She said she thought she was coming to GA, not the North Pole. We already have negative wind chill and it keeps dropping with every passing half hour.
WOW, I am in SW Michigan (Benton Harbor) and we are getting hammered!!! We share similar latitudes, BH Mi is 42.116 and BNY is 42.885, so just a tad north. Hang on over there, it's well from over!!
I lived in Buffalo 44 years this is by far the worst I have ever experienced any weather in Buffalo, house is shaking snow drifts 10 15 ft high, completely unbelievable
OH HELL, NO! I would rather face down ten tornadoes than five minutes in that ice and wind! Reed is a savage! Thanks for sharing, because most of us would never see it otherwise!🥶
Apparently you've never experienced a direct hit by a tornado. At least most of these folks will still have a home once this is over. Prayers to them. Regardless this is a bad situation for them. Right at Xmas too. Heartbreaking
Hey from Blasdell, thanks for covering this storm. I can't imagine being downtown. I know firefighters and plows and doing all they can. I wish them all and everyone cold the best luck and warmest wishes in this time.
Thanks for the coverage. It's some sort of storm. Wouldn't want to be in it. Did the snow from the previous blizzards ever melt? So stay safe and get warm. Hot cocoa and chili.
Here we're worried about the freeze damaging the strawberries crops down in Central Florida. It was Humid this am & By 1 Started Chilly winds By Morning 7 AM 30°. Not used to anything below 50° Stay safe Everyone. Especially you Reed Going back to your Moms & Niece's.
Mr Reed Timmer you are one in a million capturing the height of this blizzard condition in Buffalo...seems like Godzilla or Kingkong is coming please stay warm, be safe & love y'all
We've had heavy ice storms 90 miles east of Buffalo I think back in 1990's where everything was covered with a couple inches of ice and power outages with it but the wind wasn't this strong
Crazy! We're in eastern ohio along the wv panhandle line. I havent been able to look outside. Windows are glazed over. But the wind is howling still a bit here and there. ... Mostly here 😂. Thanks for the look at the craziest part.
thank you for doing this dangerous storm i hope you got out of there safely ;;it looked pretty scary ;;;and hope you didnt have frost bite ''''amazing pitcures ;;;'''stay safe ;;;
Chasing Tornados I can understand. But this cold stuff, why would you put yourself through this? Why aren't you home, nice and warm, planning your next Tornado Chasing series with the Dominators? Madness! Still love you man...
Seiche? I thought that was a French gourmet meal with lots of cream and soft cheese! Who knew? Keep safe, Reed. We are sending you to Mars btw on the first manned mission. To do the same darn thing! Monitor the weather!
The good news is that with these temperatures soon Lake Erie will freeze over and this kind of extreme weather, specific to this region of the country, will shut down, finally. This is why we don't live in Buffalo. Rochester is a great place to live without the weather drama, but if we want it, it's not that far down the road. We're in the sweet spot that doesn't get the extremes of Buffalo and Syracuse/Tug Hill Plateau anywhere as often.
I wonder what Superior is like. You're brave for going out there hopefully you were wearing rain gear. I am sure that is damn cold. I don't see this storm as being any different than any other blizzard we've ever got there's a reason they tell you to keep put when you're in the middle of a blizzard they are a Midwest, winter storm.
As the Earth changes from within, extreme storms, earthquakes and volcanic eruptions are imminent. Thanks for the constant reporting Reed, but you really need to get inside and stay warm.
