Taken from The Dead Milkmen Home Video Compilation, The Dead Milkmen performing Watching Scotty Die live in concert, even though this was ripped from a VHS, the video has pretty decent quality, you can see the frets on Joe's guitar pretty clearly

One of he most underrated and under appreciated bands I have known. I saw them every time they came to town. I have this fantasy, that in 100 years everyone will love The Dead Milkmen, and no one will remember who Led Zeppelin were.

I share that same fantasy! Except I would kinda rather Pink Floyd fade away into the abyss. Don't get me wrong, I hate led zeppelin, too, but I dislike pink Floyd just a weeee but more.

Well as much as like Dmm.its obvious you dont play any instrument. The guitar work is horrible and basic. To even compare to Led Z. Is so crazy. I'm not even a big fan of Led . But come on

Actually I think it's a play on the old Bobby Goldsboro song "Watching Scotty Grow" about a dad looking back on his kid's life and being proud. The last lines are: "Just me and God, watching Scotty grow"

I'm positive this isn't from 83, they're first album wasn't recorded until 85, this song was from their 3rd album.

I’m pretty sure this is the tour for that record, Bucky Fellini. I wonder where this was!

I didn't know that Joe played a Boogie back then. I thought the early days were a Twin Reverb and Roland JC120. That also kind of looks like a Gibson L6S, which he didn't play until the '90's, if I'm correct.

There's a song called "Watching Scotty Grow" look it up, it's pretty much the opposite of this song... They're making fun of a song that's too sappy while commenting on pollution. I think liquidzen56 meant they played the song for his step-dad at the show in the video.

@nonicknamekid2010 lol, yeah.. the song was recorded by Joe in like 84... but The Dead Milkmen wouldn't have an audience of this size until at least 85/86.

@Goalieman707 Yeah, I have an old recording of the song too. It's just that they formed in 1983, most of their live shows during 1983 were for their friends. They wouldn't have had an audience of this size until at least 1985.

Okay, so my step-dad saw them live, and met the singer. No joke guys, this song is dedicated to my step-dad. Or so he says.

Yeah, still, they weren't playing live shows frequently back then... and definitely none as good as this. I also think there was a Smokin Banana Peels and Life is Shit video attached to this, filmed during the same time... so that should give you an idea of when this was filmed
