Eric Carmen is a legend. He could do it all. He was a classically trained pianist, and self taught guitarist. He had a fabulous voice and was very good looking, but best of all, he projected the image of being humble and nice. Uncommon for a rock star.

It's 10.30pm Tuesday night 12/03/2024 and I've just flicked the T.V. over to Ch 9 in Sydney. They were showing The Raspberries "Go all the Way" I thought "Why are they playing that?" "Is Eric touring soon?" Then I thought "Oh no he hasn't died" "Has he?" My fears were confirmed by the news voice over person. "Eric Carmen was 74" Now I can't stop crying. Not only did Eric help create one of the greatest, mind blowing Guitar riffs in Rock history, he then composed some of the most tasteful Ballads of all time. Good quality Ballads are extremely hard to write. Thanks for the great music and the brilliant singing voice Eric. Eric lived a successful existence and died peacefully in his sleep. They’re enjoying their 50th anniversary of this song’s release & success this year! Do a RU-vid search for Raspberries 50th anniversary and footage from their reunion performance will turn up! They performed with extra performers that helped cover vocals etc. that were added in the studio during the original recording!

The Raspberries did several songs with the same exact formula. Tonight, Ecstasy and I Wanna Be With You all received tremendous airplay. The Raspberries were all over the radio between 1972 and 1974. Another great song of theirs that was very atypical of their usual formula was the song I Can Remember. It was much longer than their usual song, but it did have the complete style change that you talked about in Go All the Way.

When I was in 7th grade we had bimonthly school dances. They would always play this song and this one girl Joanne would always grab me for the dance. Yes, she was gorgeous, but she had a boyfriend unfortunately. The 70’s, a great decade for music.

I know exactly what you're talking about. That's what made this song sound real good ! I was 13 when this song came out. And I loved how the music shifted in a few different ways. And as for Eric Carmen, who was the lead singer, did some other great songs with a few other groups. All of which were in the top 10.

Great song for the teeny boppers at the time (as I was 11 years old). It was a relief form all the log winded and over played "album rock" to have a 60's sounding song in the early 1970's.

I remember this from my high school days. 77 WABC. Also Eric Carmen did Hungry Eyes, that was on the Dirty Dancing soundtrack. One of my favorite songs to roller-skate to.

Your recognition of the similarity to "Don't Worry Baby" is pretty perceptive.

How so? Only the scratch chords on one and the and of two..and the falsetto..both very common.

That is beautiful hard rock of the 70s...so cool. He's a very good singer. Yes the melodies worked. Yes sound a bit MCCARTNEYish but this makes me feel great of being on the grass in the park feeling groovy....very romantic back then

This is probably a little tame for today's standards but these guys could really rock in a live concert and I am forever grateful to them for playing an hour over their opening set when the Beach Boys were late with no explanation at a concert I went to in 1974 I think at the Niagara Falls Convention Center.

So funny you would say that about it being three songs! This is the first 45 record I bought, I was 14, 1973, and listening to only AM radio in those days, it was hard to "catch" your favorite songs. So I went into the store looking for what I thought was one of two Raspberries songs, and found out like you said, it was all ONE song! cool. I still have it by the way.

Again, memory lane @ 7th grade. Every era, to this day, have certain hair styles. I don’t even have to look anything on google as to when a song came out! I just look at the hair!! 😁. That was so 70’s, and that was such a great song. Thanks for sharing. Ahhh, to be young again!!

I was a kid when this song was released back in 1972. It was late one night and my brother David had snuck some girl in the house. He put this song on and was slow dancing with her whispering something in her ear. I was watching while hiding around the corner of the room. They were both half drunk so they didn’t notice me. I had a great story to tell at school the next day.😂

I listened to this song in the billboard Top 100 in Germany, AFN Radio station and had to ship this single record from the US, cause It was not available then in Germany, now we've got Amazon.....lol. Loved this song so in 1972.

See the white guitar the lead singer(Eric Carmen) is playing? He later sold that to Joan Jett and it became her number 1 that she played and wrote her solo hits on. That guitar is double famous. :)
