"She knows when it's dinnertime. She's a fatass." I almost choked from laughing so hard. Wasn't expecting that commentary. Thank you for your videos! It's so wonderful to see people who truly care for their pets as they should. :')
Spikey Pets really!? I thought I was the only who did that. I fall asleep better when I'm in my room with my girlies and I can just move my hand and touch their cage so they're super close and I listen falling asleep to them eating and playing
Right? I keep my rats in my room and let them sleep during the day so I can play with them in the evening and listen to them play while I’m trying to sleep It’s comforting
There is a small plush cat toy that has a motion controlled electronic squeaker/chirper inside. I put one inside my gerbils cage. When he is active and playing, I can hear chirps as he runs across the toy. Makes me feel good.
I LIKE the noise they make at night. It tells me I have happy, healthy rats. It comforts me and never bothers me. Their cage is right next to my bed. They can step right on to my comforter when I open their cage door.
I just got my rats last week and I didn't know you have to feed them protein! Thank you! I will make sure they get it 3-4 times a week! They do get fresh fruits and veggies every morning and night along with a good rat food.
Tips: ALWAYS get litter boxes that have a grate. I always get a minimum of TWO, and sometimes three litter boxes. It pays off. My main litter box is next to where they sleep and is huge galvanized metal with a galvanized grate.
Now that's what I call "Rat Heaven", Love the cage, you take very good care of your rats, Letting my Niece Lexi watch this video so she can take proper care of her rat "Lola". :)
my rats live in my garage in a gaint playground me and my dad make out of cardboard and wood- we make a new one every 2 weeks. my dad even bought a mini air conditioner
Your such a good mum! I grew up with rats and have had rats of my own as an adult for many, many years now, and I c o n s t a n t l y see people who don't understand what it means to have pets, especially with smaller animals like rats, and it just kills me. It's so noce to see someone who really takes care of her rats, and gives them the life that lets them live up to their full potential. You have five beautiful girls
Peachieliciuos Thank you very much. I also get frustrated with people! Just because its a "pocket pet" doesnt mean that it needs less care. Some small animals are very high maintenance !
Thanks ratgirl44. I have enjoyed your videos. I've learned a lot about my two rats. I saved from a breeder. I have a rat named stewart that looked just like your uno. I'm sorry he passed. thank you for what you do. it's help me take better care of my babies. Phil and stewart are there names. thanks girlgirl.
liked and subscribed!!!💕 😊 this is the very first video I've watched on your channel and I already love your channel!!!I'm looking at getting rats soon (yes I'm getting two) and I've been doing lots of research and getting different opinions from everybody. My friend has a rat and I fell IN LOVE with her. They are so adorable and loving! I will be watching more of your videos for help and advice because I want to have happy, healthy little mousies!!!😊💕🐀🐁🐭
@@aaaaamyy yep same here! I keep a plastic cereal box with cheerios in my "rat box" by their cage. When I pick up that cereal box they come running lol. They are pretty good about coming when I call them but when that fails the cereal box ALWAYS works!
I run my finger across the bars of the cage and my boys come running. I use the same method for when they are in the cage whilst giving them treats, therefore they associate the sound with yum yums.
so my sister and I have our ratties in are room and it funny because at first when we first got them my sister would be so upset because she couldn't sleep with them drinking their water and playing etc... now 3 months later she cant sleep without the noise lol
A lot of people do keep rats in their room. They dont smell if you take care of them properly however they are up and about at night. So that might keep you awake while your trying to sleep.
Hi ratgirl44 I love your videos and I just subscribe to you! I really want to get rats and I really like your how to use fleece for rats video anyway I like this rat daily care video so thanks!
You have the best looking rats I think I've ever seen. Awesome Cage. Great video thank you. Like the fleece idea with the clips I see what you did there. Good idea. I suppose you get that fleece at just about any fabric store for not a whole lot of money?
Thanks! Oh, I forgot about the time of my awakening, I'm in high school still. Was waking up at 5, though we did move- I'll probably be a bit lazy to keep that up so early, so I suppose it depends when I have to catch the bus. Thank you though!
No she is not old she just has something wrong with her back legs. We think its a birth defect because she has been like that since we got her at 4 weeks old.
Hello! Firstly, your rats are just ADORABLE! Omg, so sweet! Secondly, how tall is that lovely cage of yours? :) like, centimetre wise? Im planning on starting a rattie family with two, and the only place in my room might not meet the height (certainly the width though ahaha)
Its really up to you. Boys are known to be cuddle bugs and not as active as females. However I have known some pretty active males and some cuddly females. Male can smell a bit more since they are markers. I just prefer females :-)
How quickly do you personally go through a bag of Oxbow? I'll obviously be feeding veggies, etc., however for two rats I'm trying to decide if a 3 or 10 pound bag would be more cost friendly.
Your babies are so spoiled! I also have the same cage. ❤️ It made me cringe so hardcore when you picked up the poop with your bare hand, but then I also had an aneurysm when you touched their food with that same hand immediately after. 🤮😂😂😂
they eat only once a day? also, their nutrition must contain so much or the store designated rat food is sufficient? I am about to adopt some and i would like some advice :) thanks
+Hi. My name is [ Blurry Face ] I do not feed them in the morning, they usually have lab blocks still in the bowl. I feed them fresh veggies every night and extra protein a few times a week while they are young. Once they get older I feed the protein only about once a week.
Hi there! I used to have pet rats when I was 7 and 8 years later I've decided to take care of them again. Previously all the rats I've owned have grown tumors. I understand that this is very common in female rats but its still very sad to watch your little friend get sick. I was wondering what your experience with tumors has been and whether you recommend neutering rats? I just can't afford getting the tumors removed.
Ruth Puglisi I am also having that same problem. I am doing some research and diet and calorie intake seem to play a big part alone with genetics. I am going to try and reduce the amount of food I leave out for them and see if that helps. I only have 1 neutered male. Its the females that seems to have the tumor problems. The surgery to get them spayed is very expensive in my area.
Hi, i am a noon, but in my research to chose a male or female, I kept reading that if you spay your female, the cancer/tumor chances go down to 4%. This is something I've has to consider because, unless I get more than 2 (same sex couple) or a different sex, I won't neuter.
We have a pet rat (that we found in our heating ducts, caught after 6 months of no one believing me that there was something under our trailer, and have kept). None of us are comfortable picking her up because, well, we're not rat people. I've been getting a little more comfortable with having her around and have been talking to her and putting my finger on the top of her cage (it's an aquarium with a mesh style top) for her to sniff. I make sure my hands are free from any food smells but tonight she did something that scared the crap out of me and made me a little freaked out. My finger was on the top of the mesh and she was sniffing. Then she started moving her teeth like she wanted to nibble at my finger. Then she went back to sniffing. Then all of a sudden she swiped her hands at the mesh, almost like she was trying to roughly push something away. Is this a sign she doesn't like me or that I irritate her? I talk to her all the time and look at her. We never planned on getting a rat, but we have her and we have no idea what kind she is, how old she is, or anything like that. BTW, her name is Splinter (after the rat from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles).
