Up Yup it's my most recent build and a great deck I'm also trying to build a Hydra tribal deck but by far my most favorite tribal deck will always be the slivers Because of the ridiculous power that comes out of it And everybody hates going against them
@@jasonleonard8857 hey Jay. Ikoria has a really interesting and high potential Hydra commander(in my opinion) coming in one of the precons. I think you would like it. Zaxara....
Note that Patron of the Nezumi only triggers when permanents (i.e. objects on the battlefield, NOT "permanent cards") are put into a graveyard. Altar of Dementia will just mill your opponent, not trigger Patron. Alternatively, mill yourself to trigger Konrad, but Patron still does nothing there.
I was looking at cards like Crashing Drawbridge that you tap to give all your creatures haste, imagine putting down 15+ rats then tapping the draw bridge so they can immediately swing in
I love my rat deck, I love it even more that I first made it years ago and bought some Cabal Coffers when they were cheap. Just having an expedition map to search for the cabal coffers or cabal stronghold to keep doubling Mana is great, especial when you can hit for 20+ with crypt rats
I had this deck and I can say that it is definetely fun.. and terrifying to your opponents. And due to that, I had to switch to Orzhov not only to recur/answer more, but also to praise the almighty God of the swarm: Ratheros, God of the Rats. The deck is based on AristoRATS shenanigans. So so much fun!
Been thinking about a Rat/ Goblin tribal deck with Krenko and Marrow Gnawer in the 99. Call it Raining Rats and Moggs. Trying to find an excuse to use a Dralnu's Crusade in Commander.
My Ayara Rat Colony deck has been one of my absolute favorite decks I’ve built. So thank you for showing the rats some love! I’d suggest a Tendrils of Agony in the deck. Thrumming Stone cards are cast so it’s a great way to rack up Storm for cheap once you go off.
I've been playing Relentless Rats forever in EDH. When Rat Colony came out I was very excited. I've built them with Jarad, Karador, even R/B Grenzo. I love this tribe.
I'm right there with ya! They're my favorite tribe, and I too know that while I've swapped the commanders a ton (Grenzo, Lazav, Greven, now Sek'Kuar) I will always have a rat colony deck :)
That door of destinies is stupid broken when combined with the thumming stone And then you have all your rats out on the field each with power and toughness over 20
One card that fill a similar role to Secret Salvage in this deck is Desperate Research. It will net you about 2 rats on average to your hand for 2 mana.
I personally prefer using Athreos as the commander. He makes your board a lot more resilient and white has great recursion for low cost creatures. Plus you have more tutors for your Skullclamp, which is probably one of the best cards in your deck.
I've seen a Shadowborne Apostle deck hit all of them at once with Thrumming Stone... We got lucky because the player was trapped out and couldn't activate to get the demons... and someone board wiped and I played a bojuka bog after to neuter the deck.
I actually run a deck with altar and konrad, and it claps cheeks most of the time. Filled the deck with small aggro creatures, value sac outlets, recursion, and spot removal.
Omg... you picked almost EVERY card, including altar of dementia, that I have in my mono black commander deck :D I HAVE this exact deck :p how funny is this :p
@@JumboCommander It is a good back up win condition! Just last friday I was playing against a friend and I attacked with everything I got. He managed to sneak in some creatures to block with so he survived and I knew if I did not do anything, he would be swinging at me with lethal force since I was tapped out. And suddenly I realise that after a glance at his library that he was already pretty milled out since he was playing with a blue/black draw, discard deck. So with the relative high power of my rats, I managed to mill his last 38 cards after my atack and still win the game.
I don't think Altar of Dimentia and Patron of the Nezumi would synergize. Since a card is only a permanent once its on the battlefield. So, even if you milled a land, let's say, from the opponent's deck, Nezumi wouldn't trigger since its a land 'card' being milled and not a 'permanent' at that time. Pretty sure about this, anyway.
Balthor the defiled in the zone. Thruming stone or simiar big effect. Drop hella rats. Try to win. Your oppents wipe your board? Sacrifice and exile (to cmnd zone) Balthor and bring them all back! Also living death and Patriarch's Bidding.
This deck looks fun but once you build mono color tribal deck you’ve built them all. That may not be completely true but I’ve got a krenko deck and this seems super duper similar besides the multiple of a card shenanigans.
Anybody have thoughts on maybe taking out a single rat colony for a Mikaeus the Unhallowed, OR Obelisk of Urd? My thoughts behind Mikaeus; you’d be able to swing out with some giant rats; potentially kill opponents creatures, maybe get some tokens from ogre slumlord, anything that dies comes back bigger, and anything that survives helps to drain with throne of the god pharaoh. My thoughts behind Obelisk of Urd; gives the rats some added power and much needed toughness boost if you haven’t found the door yet, and if you have the throne of the god pharaoh out, you might as well tap 6 creatures if you can to drain your opponents 6 life each. Hell maybe more if you have extra rats that can swing and live. PLZ LEAVE THOUGHTS!
Was hoping this wouldn’t be another Rat Colony/Relentless Rats decktech, but glad that my favorite tribe is getting more spotlight nonetheless. What excites me about this tribe is the non-Rat cards. The Ogres and the Piper are super flavorful (still disappointed we didn’t get a third Ogre on our third trip to Ravnica!). I’m super glad you featured those. P.S. Plague of Vermin, while expensive, is super flavorful and ends games. Especially with Ayara on board.
@@Talesofnah nope u just attach it to ur commander and when u sac a creature it sees the death it triggers the untapping of the attached creature marrow allowing u to make infinite tokens
so i have a question about this, why use Rat Colony instead of Relentless Rats? Relentless Rats costs 1 more however it is a 2/2 and gets +1/+1 for each other Relentless Rats in play you can also have as many of these in your deck as you want, as it has the same wording. Not trying to insult you or anything but I'm really curious on why you went with Rat Colony. I hope you see my message and respond :)
uff.. Jet medallion, 20 $? :O this deck needs "Akroma's Memorial". get all the keywords + the pro black is relevant, then only artifact creatures can block you.
