@@jackrussell1960 well, we also trained some animals for movies we rescue people from wild animals. We remove Pigeons from peoples industry and we do pest control so we got a pretty well rounded company.

She is very sick please let her free when you do not, she will die Anyone dont feed it correctly and his tail is 10times bigger us normal. This poor poss is extrem crosseyed because the eigner feed every day eggs

@@reign6of6e6terror certainly is an observation to take into consideration however, she does have regular vet check ups and she is not ill. She is fed a high fiber, low fat diet to control the fat, build up that captive bred possums often have issue with.

I got a feeling that that wasn't right..... Then again who are we to argue with a wildlife "person" ? I feel like if we look at how possums curl their tails and where they curl it from maybe holding them a little bit lower on the tail is the way that they might feel more comfortable because she didn't seem to like that or like I said the area where it was held from. Their tail curls a little bit lower down that's where they grab from. Just my instinctual guess from what I felt after watching her react

Honestly there’s all huff and mostly bluff plus even if they bite the can’t carry rabies or other diseases most times so an ouch with little risk of infection is no concern to me or him I love these guys and want one myself

I love em. In my shop I’m the only person who rescues the animals when they get in the frames and engines of cars I’ve rescued a couple possums they are all show honestly

Poor lil guys got a face only a mother can love ,thats kind of upsetting knowing how people are. I'm always stopping for em on the road. Be patient ,they are a little slow to react. Like stand there for 10 seconds slow 🤣🤣 They're alright in my book 😁

This is the also the common oppossum the 2 years tops in wild. The virginia oppossum is 4 years in the wild.

An Opossum is not a rat and it's not a rodent either its a Marsupial. Rat Tails are used for balance Opossum hand by that tail upside down all day long so while thet may not like it it won't hurt them.

Yes it is very sad, but she is loved here and is given a fantastic life.

@@josephdriesse1157 they surely do! Wish ppl knew things like their body temp being too low for rabies to take hold. They will clear a yard of ticks in just a couple days. I could go on. Here's the thing though, I've had pets all my life, dogs, cats, ferrets (another adorable misunderstood animal) but no other animal touched my soul like Poppy. Watching her deal w/ losing the life she knew while adjusting to this one, I could see the grace in her during that time. Nobody taught her about kindness or tolerance or hate. She simply adjusted to her new reality. It helped me to see that all the struggle & anger & screaming crying I sometimes did when dealing w/ unavoidable change was unnecessary & hurt me & everybody else around me. Grace is a better way to cope. Also Poppy didn't just accept what came w/ the new surroundings. She had boundaries: hated a bath, didn't really like or trust other ppl, etc. Anyway this is too long & I apologize. If ever you come across a possum in need or if anyone tells you of one, don't hesitate to contact me. My state won't certify rehabbers so I'm not certified but I still want to do all I can for them! I support you. I rescued a baby opossum and bottle fed him. His name was Burt. I had him for a year until he was grown and healthy. He snuck out an open window but I think it was his time to leave the nest. I miss him, he was sweet and loved to perch on my back. . They're misunderstood creatures. 💕

The most important thing you can do in your education of the public to change their minds is let people know and make sure you get this verified because I was told this by possum Rescuers in California who rescued some baby possums who sadly survived the death of their mother who was poisoned by developers behind my property. Possums are an ancient animal that is not considered a mammal. It is my understanding they cannot pass along diseases such as rabies Etc like rats mice and other mammals. they do not have the same temperature as mammals. They are great for your yard they will eat the rats babies and the mice as well as its nest. They will eat the snails so don't poison the snails in your neighborhood don't call Terminix just call possums if everybody would have a possum in the yard instead of Terminix or a dog that would kill the possums or a cat that would be allowed out to hunt them at night you would end up having healthy clean yards and rural areas that would not be filled and littered with unwanted Vermin as well as bugs, slugs snails Etc. I guess you could say the stinky garbage can possum is Nature's natural Vermin cleaner. My home had such a beautiful yard and I never did a thing with it I just didn't have any horrible bugs slugs snails mice or rats to bother it I simply kept the trees trimmed and raked up the dead leaves at the end of the year the little possum and her family that lived just beyond my fence on the hillside had always kept it clean as well as our neighbors and there were a few possums throughout the area they were all poisoned by the Developers as well as the Hawks that hunted the area Etc. Never let it developer spray that green stuff they say oh it's to keep down the weeds since we've turned over the dirt to put in the new housing it is full of herbicide and a product that basically kills all living life as it goes into their bloodstream and turns it in to Crystal glass. I don't know if the baby possums were able to survive I know that they had dragged themselves from my backyard with their mother had died trying to save them dragging them away from their home knowing something was horribly wrong above them and they had crawled out to my driveway. Maybe finding that concrete was only the safe place they knew existed at that moment. My husband had had a possum who lived in his manufacturing plant he was able to save a few of the babies that someone had tried to drown because they had taken the mother to eat. It devastated him he never learned who did it. That's when we found out they only lived 2 years. He loved his little guys even though they've been hurt and damaged by what had been happen to them and their mother. When he found out the wildlife people would simply drown them because they were injured he couldn't see that and so he gave them two years where they could play and have fun and enjoy each other until they slowly wore down and passed away. Sadly his company had to increase their vermin extermination fees because of course the possums that have lived there all those years were gone and now they had to kill the rats and mices suddenly started coming into the human areas of the buildings with extreme indifference to the human presence with poisons. Something the possums and cats have been able to do for over 30 years. Where the cats wouldn't go the possums could and since the possums were as large as the cats the cats knew to leave them alone since the cats and the possums we're allowed to live in the same area side by side a 10 acre manufacturing plant in the Heart of the City where people dumped cats all the time and the possum found a place where they could exist with peace until someone decided they were food.

The best way to pick up an opossum is through their legs from the back with your arm against their tummy/chest. They'll hug onto your arm! Don't ever yank an adult opossums tail, they're too heavy and it hurts them
