The poetry here is really abstract in a strange way. This actually sounds almost like as if computers had feelings.

This lore is really interesting and the plot points are top notch. I love ratboy's character developement

At first sight, I was considerably confused about the orientation of this series, but aside from the less than preferable 3D animation, it is pretty evident that whoever made this series really knows how to make a great soundtrack, I don't know about you guys, but that music is very well done in my opinion.

Summer Solstice Baby is like the western version of Hatsune Miku. Thank you ratboygenius for sharing such wonderful music with us all, it brings a tear to my eye every time.

Perhaps the different characters represent parts of the general archetypes of human desire. Ratboy is like philosophy, the quest for knowledge and balance. SSB is nature in general, representing the unknown that quests for knowledge search towards, The green man at the beginning is drugs (brain alteration) and clyde is popular society, which prefers to treat ailments by fixing what they cause and through entertainment first rather than getting to the root of the problem. Little king john would represent capitalism/science in this, I think, the desire to capture nature completely within it's grasp, whereas Ratboy realizes that he can only dwell in harmony with nature, not capture or know it completely. The strange prescence is probably the "inner self" or representative of spiritual aspect of humanity. Seeks to become one with all the elements (unity) and to "purify" the self.

Ratboy Genius is one of those things that you watch, and then wake up the next morning thinking it was all some crazy fever-dream. And you consider whether or not you somehow accidentally obtained and ate enough shrooms and angel dust to turn your brain into a mass similar to scrambled eggs. But then you go back on youtube and just... "Oh."

I can get past the animation in general, but Summer Solstice Baby is without a doubt incredibly disturbing

I really like the ascending to the waterfall and the subsequent "bath plus shower" descending. This cleanses your soul.

the summer solstice baby's songs are my favorites by far! it's like they're written by absurdist processes and then sung earnestly, and then paired with the bizzaro 3D primitives & minecraft animation. it's such a weird effect. i love it.

This whole series kinda reminds me of some new wave of modern art. I know I'm suuuuper late, but it's so interesting to see people coming into contact with this series. Some say it's creepy and how it gives them nightmares, some enjoy the music, some like to go really in-depth with the metaphors of all the little details. Personally, I don't find any of these ways wrong. And it makes me feel kind of sad that people are condemning others for actually enjoying/not liking this show. If it makes you feel weirded out, it's okay. If it calms you down, it's okay. Certainly, it makes you feel something, and that's what makes it a pure form of art. Well done!

i really relate to summer solstice baby's lyrics

the way this series is structured reminds me of a bedtime story, with the rhyming and the surrealism, and some of the themes, like a damsel in distress and a big villain. It's all very comforting in an odd way.

I can’t stop watching this series over and over for the last week or so. It’s so unassumingly beautiful. The surreal animation and computer generated voices throw you off at first, but the music, poetry, and story reel you back in. It’s really good and was clearly ahead of its time being uploaded 9 years ago.

Wow. I'm at a loss for words. This is tragically beautiful and nothing short of a masterpiece. It was both saddening and deeply awakening to see Summer Solstice in the playground- she simply doesn't fit in, and that's painful to watch. She grew up too fast, and was thrust into a world where what was once a place of play is now simply a heart-wrenching stop on her terrifying journey. The emotion she shows is truly powerful, and paired with her chilling and haunting songs... wow. I'm in tears.

No idea why, but the song at the end makes me emotional.

This would make a really good children's television show. Maybe use less complicated words (expedient), touch up the animations a bit, hire someone to voice Ratboy Genius, Summer Solstice Baby, Little King John, etc.

The music in this is actually really really good (Except for the auto tuned vocals). I love the piano stuff, too.

I remember watching this a long time ago (along with Potato Knishes). Now I remember why I liked this so much. And now I remember why I stopped watching this. Either way, it's... actually good on it's own merits. Aside from the animation, everything else is quite good. P.S.: I know I'm late for this, but does someone know if the song at the end is original or not? And where can I find it?

You know, I'm starting to believe that the real reason RBG is always getting caught up on some kind of distraction is because he's very wrapped up in the persona he gave himself, of being a well-groomed, fun loving genius king, and is willing to preserve it at any cost. Even when he thought there was someone accompanying him at the building with the waterfall, he still takes the shower/bath publicly out of pure desperation to be clean.

I think SSB's song near the end is about the general person's negative outlook on life. SSB believes that there are good people everywhere, yet people still say that there's no good people left in the world. SSB also states that, although there are still good people in the world, they don't show that kindness, which further perpetuates that belief.
