FUN FACT: Planet Grelbin was made in 3 days. Tony Garcia the man behind the snow beast crystal farm and other programming in the game got an award for the snowbeasts being so shit dubbed the Snowbeast award. For every R&C game past this point a snow beast award was given to the worst part of the game.
actually for almost all insomniac games !!! i emailed Insomniac for a list of all the games that won, and Sean McCabe the CTO gave me a detailed list with explanations! I made a video essay about it on my channel!
As an autistic person, I love my mom but she ALWAYS thinks that when I fail to do something it's because I don't care enough. Like, she knows that I have executive functioning issues but she still goes to that. She's generally great but that one inability to understand has caused a LOT of fights
It’s really nice hearing someone else clearly vocalize something I’ve been going through, especially with being unable to cook because I’m afraid I’ll just put off cleaning for days on end and then my kitchen will smell like garbage. Just really feels validating and makes me feel seen.
If only there was a mid-range crowd control weapon we could've used to deal with the twonkies easily *looks at Polaroid of lava gun before the upgrade*
The worst part is that the lava gun after the upgrade is still incredibly good, it's some of the best DPS in the game. It's just that pre-upgrade fulfilled a niche that no other weapon did.
I relate very much with that feeling of realizing how much the experiences of those who know they have ADHD apply to yourself and going "...oh." I recently sought out a diagnosis and have been on medication (on top of anti-depressants I've been on for a good few years now) for it for a few weeks and it's been a big help so far. Also, a lot of green veggies are really good when oven roasted with some olive oil drizzled on it before cooking, and some lemon juice added before and/or after cooking.
I've been suspecting that I have ADHD too, but I've been kinda insecure about whether I *actually* have ADHD, so hearing how you're going through all the same stuff I'm going through is really validating. Also, your fear of cooking being a result of your probably-ADHD is a solid mood.
I thought of a way that could make the infiltrator puzzle a little easier. The timer is slightly slower, theres only a number of dots you need to hit that range from five to eight, and finally each correct connection has a sound cue based on the Do-So-Do music scale. I think using the music sound cue Will make remembering the pattern easier
yes hello!! in this game was my first and is still my favorite out of the entire series so i'm super glad to have been able to watch you play through the whole thing and react to it your first time :-) i'm glad you had a fun time with it!! i also think it's really cool how you take the time and put in the effort to actually like analyze it?? maybe it's because i first played it when i was like 8 years old but i never really thought About the plot or the themes that much so it was really interesting to hear your takes!! also!! about the adhd autism stuff first of all. mood lmao. second of all i just wanted to i guess clarify?? even if you don't read this but just for my own sake to know that i spoke up about it lmao sympathy is just where you feel sorrow or pity about something that happened to someone. it's what lets you say "man that sucks i'm sorry that happened to you" empathy is the more emotional thing where someone is feeling a certain emotion and then you pick up on that like a sponge and feel it yourself, or it's the innate ability to imagine yourself in someone else's shoes and have that much easier of a time understanding where they're coming from. a lot of people have this naturally but a lot of other people (me included) have very little or none at all compassion is actually the one you were talking about the most, about it being a skill that you can train and a conscious choice that you make to believe someone when they speak about their lived experiences even if you don't fully understand or can never fully understand what they're going through. compassion is what lets you say "even though i don't get it, i understand that you're going through a hard time. i don't need to understand the experience to accept it and to work on trying to help" i kind of like to use the example of like. someone tells you that they got punched in the face and it hurt really bad. you could use empathy to imagine what it would feel like to get punched in the face, but you really don't need to do that at all when you can just use compassion to believe them and ask if they want some ice longer than i meant lmao it's just a pet peeve of mine when people say empathy when they mean compassion but anyway thanks if you read this!! looking forward to you playing the rest of them :-) i hope you have just as good as a time as you did with this!!
a late comment but oh my god the adhd stuff really hits home especially the "buying ingredients and then they end up going gross and bad because i can't get myself together enough to cook with them". i've lived alone for most of the past year and wanted to save money so i ended up batch cooking whenever i got a little burst of executive function and then eating leftovers on slump days, but i also run the risk of getting bored of it and ending up hating it (which is exacerbated by some sensory shit i have), and now i'm home with my family for the summer i am Having a Time with cooking my own meals again. i really hope you and anyone else who relates to this are getting stuff sorted out for it, and i wish you the best of luck w it!
As someone with adhd... yeah you prolly have adhd. i've been diagnosed from a young age and only recently been learning what adhd *actually* does in your brain thanks to resources online, and yeah you're describing the symptoms
two years late but THE TUNNLEING IN THING. its manageable when speaking but in TEXT its horrendous (because ill start putting the tangents in parenthesis so that people understand that i know this is a tangent (but then it makes it incredibly obvious when im starting a new tangent without finishing the first one (but noticing doesnt stop new tangents from happening so you just end up with paragraphs like this)))
I feel it is a pretty big jump of logic to say *spoilers below* "This person said something that is commonly said by a very famous superhero, therefore this character is clearly the superhero in disguise regardless of the fact that they look very different." Like, there are plenty of other logical explanations for that.
@@TheStitchpanda nothing to do with that (And it’s fine for penny to not realize it, it’s not a big deal. It’s just silly and minor foreshadowing). It’s about how someone can not know basic words but can say part of a catchphrase just fine. It’s like not being able to speak English, but knowing the name of an English celebrity. Yes, it happens, doesn’t mean its not funny. And cuz it sticks out, it’s something that ppl would hone in on
Ok for real tho the music that penny made Like the one she played for when there was no music in the level It’s so good like really really good I would gladly hire penny to be the composer for the music in my game
I'm absolutely not in the right state of mind for this stream but as someone who has a lot of experience with ADHD(having it and knowing people who have it) and little guidance or help with it I can tell you that while I'm no psychological expert, you seem to show clear signs of ADHD(I quickly wanna say that I in no way mean that in a negative sense). The way you talk and dart from subject to subject like you mentioned is what gives it away. I honestly thought you said you had it during a stream of the first game. Make sure you get the right help and clearly understand what it means for you specifically to improve your life in any way you can. That goes for anyone here really. Things like this can quickly spiral out of control and you can end up with severe issues like depression and whatnot. Take care of yourself and get the help you deserve. Just kinda felt it necessary to get that out there idfk.
I don’t know about this, but someone on the previous video had said something about an important side quest on the first planet that factors into the next game. I hope you look it up, Penny. Or someone who knows what it was graces us with the info again.
I think I know what you’re talking about (the one regarding the action figure), but it doesn’t factor into the next game, it comes into play in a far later game, that Penny currently doesn’t have as a part of the list of games shes going to play at the moment
The discussion after the ADHD stuff about why people might not be accepting kinda set me off. I hate how much time we spend justifying or trying to understand people that have no interest in understanding us. "But back in their day things were different" I don't care, a decent person tries to be understanding of other people and doesn't just write them off as broken or lazy. I just don't get why anyone would excuse their behavior when they arrogantly selfishly refuse to budge even a little. Not about to be all "uncle whoever is a nice guy he just deeply resents you and thinks you're pathetic" no uncle whoever sucks and I want him to never be near me again. I just intensely disagree about whether people are jerks when they think they know better than everyone about everything and refuse to just not be mean, those people suck and it upsets me when I think people are excusing that behavior.
yknow the rac2 finale just sorta. the fizzwidget twist is kinda what the 'real' ending was, and everything after the boss is just kinda... filler? no thematic content really, just a reset to the status quo and a rehash of the first ending with less impact because it had to do with a non-character who we saw like twice and never spoke about? the gameplay in these games is good but honestly I think they started losing their way thematically all the way back here.
Penny's final thoughts on this game almost directly mirror my thoughts on the Doom 2016 / Doom: Eternal games. Like, despite all of the gameplay improvements a game can make it can still fail to hit as hard as the original if it's not as cohesive or holistic in its approach.
