Ratchet Remembering His GirlFriend Talwyn & His Father Kaden - Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart PS5 2021 

OK again. Pretty sure she is not his Love interest. Girl friend is more accurate. But not love interest. Because he does not show love for anyone. I am very certain hes only 13 years old and that is why everyone is,being older than him has more emotional luggage as one would put it. They are teenagers and adults and he is just a kid on a grand adventure.

Well you SEE clank being born in the first game and what happens in Crack in time is simply something made up in the moment. Very great indeed, but there were no real needs before to know about a secret clanks past. As for ratchet, the entirety of the future saga is about his background, not just crack in time.

Clank was made in a facility to serve for Chairman Drek but was a defect. The Crack in time version is kinda stupid but whatever

I gotta be honest I'm not a fan, there's just something off about them to me. All the details I liked in the cutscenes of previous games just aren't there and I'm not sure why, aside from that this clearly had mocap animation involved, or I may be wrong.

Lol. I didn't even remember who Sasha is. So that's how irrelevant she's been to me. With her it's just a temporary crush as I see it, and I strongly disagree with Angela. I feel that Angela got closer to ratchet and clank than any other.

Agreed, even though it's honestly a pretty low bar when it comes to Ratchet's love interests. Daddy-issues-Talwyn is just a non-character, to a point that despite having to insist she's supposed to be the keeper of all the girls Ratchet's had a thing with in the series, five mainline games after her introduction the devs still can't figure out anything worthwhile to do with her. Angela had some light flirty banter with Ratchet, but there's no indication it ever went beyond that and the game lampshading Ratchet having bit of a thing for her by how protective he got where she was concerned is basically the only reason Angela even qualifies as a love interest. While I wouldn't claim Sasha's relationship with Ratchet to have been some grand romantic writing either, the two of them had some actual chemistry and ongoing cute back and forth, that was enough to sell them as two individuals, who were genuinely into each other and the game actually clearly established them as a couple by the end of Up Your Arsenal. With Talwyn they couldn't even be bothered to do that much.

I do know what you’re saying about some of that stuff, but personally I like Talwyn better. Plus unlike Sasha Talwyn dosen’t have any family left since her father disappeared and her robots Cronk & Zephyr were killed in the last game.

@The Joker Well that's just it. I personally feel that not much is done with Talwyn's character. She's just.....exists. But doesn't really have much purpose aside from being Ratchet and Clank's ally as well as Ratchet's girlfriend. She honestly has more purpose and a better character moment in the official comic series but unfortunately none of that happens in the actual games. The one interesting story point Insomniac had set up for her father, Max Apogee, has kind of been abandoned. None of the characters have ever mentioned his disappearance or made any sort of attempt to locate him, assuming he's still alive, which he most likely is. It's made worse when Insomniac decided to include the possibility that Angela, a character who's been completely abandoned and retconned by the developers,was with Max Apogee but ultimately chose not to revisit that plot point. All I'm saying is, they really need to do more with Talwyn, and maybe then I can actually like her character. I don't hate her, it's just that she really doesn't stand out, making me have zero reasons to care for her character.

@@coolgirl2044 I mean she could always appear within the next game, which seems like a grand finale to the franchise if the credit sequence is anything to go by, in fact it could also expand character playability with including Talwyn sequences too. We might see more Lombaxes and where they went, along with finally seeing Max Apogee. This all coming together and putting all the characters for one huge game finale with Ratchet, Clank, Talwyn, Rivet, Max, Quark, Nefarious, The Lombaxes and so on.

That’s why I’ve been saying on Reddit it’s gotta be Tachyon. He’s the reason Max disappeared after he used the dimensionator to warp Angela to the lombax dimension, or rather to Rivet’s world before sending her to the lombax dimension, then went to Jasindu to hide the dimensionator there and most likely warped to the Lombax dimension with the help of a Kerchu. Percy’s a cragmite who wants to destroy the lombaxes especially when Ratchet banished him to a rock and was stuck with Zogg. Since Nefarious was throwing reality out of whack one of those portals had to have pulled Tachyon through, all he’s gotta do is tail Ratchet and Rivet and steal the dimensionator to unleash the Cragmites back on the Lombaxes. This’ll also provide Rivet’s outlook on the creatures that left her alone in another dimension and potentially an orphan like Ratchet if Tachyon is to know and or done anything to Rivet’s parents.

Apparently there will be a new one! In 2029.

Nah. Ratchet had the groovitron and in RYNO 5 + Clank's timebomb. Allister doesn't have to pullback to be defeated. Ratchet getting hit was a plot armor so Clank can turn back time not more than 6 minutes.

@user-pi1lb4tf2f I actually wasn't able to obtain the ryno 5 and avoided using Clank's time bombs. I went with the buzz blades, the negotiator, groovitron mostly because seeing alister do the moon walk and disco was kind of surprising when I first used it and I believe the cryomine.

Canonically it makes sense as a sequel to Into the Nexus, which comes after the Future trilogy and All 4 One. Into the Nexus ends with the Dimensionator breaking and Clank snatching it, while Rift Apart starts with Clank fixing it

@@teagsmid3707 I'm sorry to say this but, at least in regards to personality, Rivet is better. This is why I can't fully ship Ratchet with Talwyn, Insomniac hasn't really done anything with her. At least not yet. She's kind of a nothing character, if I'm being honest. Now, that doesn't mean I ship Ratchet with Rivet. That'd be pretty weird, having an alternate version of yourself (yes, if Rivet's dimension has alternate versions of Ratchet's allies then it would only make sense for her to be Ratchet's alternate) but at the very least Rivet and Ratchet have chemistry, romantic or platonic. I'm just saying, give Talwyn more purpose or at the very least give her a personality rather than having her JUST be "Ratchet's 'girlfriend'". Maybe then I'll be fine with shipping them but until then, I don't really see it, even if it IS canon.

In the games, never. Hell, in the same conformation they said they didn’t want to confirm anything in the games. It’s not the series strong suit to portray romance and they honestly weren’t interested in doing so, even when Talwyn was a thing. Would they want to scrap that to try their hand at it in games now? Sure. A lot changes in 8 years. Plus, like I said, it’s easy to do so by their own admission. But that’s up to them. There’s nothing confirming or denying that relationship persisted. And if insomniac hasn’t changed their stand point on that, there never will be. But who knows? They tried and did pretty well with romance in Spider man. And made a slow burn one with Miles Morales. So while Rift Apart is innovative as a PS5 launch title, the next one may innovate through story. Being a love story where the player plays both sides of it. That’s pretty interesting as to my knowledge, Max Payne 2 is the only game to do something like that, and it wasn’t very happy with that concept. So it’d be a smart play if that’s what they are going for. I’m sure that romantic hints between Ratchet and Rivet and not mentioning Talwyn in any romantic capacity is a deliberate choice. Either for the potential of a love story between Ratchet and Rivet in the next game, or to pin the heavy lifting onto dark horse again, or to never mention it so that people stop basing their identities around Ratchets love life and so that Ratchet’s love life is never mentioned again, it’s all possible. Maybe even a game with their kids as you mentioned. Again, who knows? Insomniac is a different company than they were 8 years ago, and the writing staff is different to my knowledge. So there is a lot they could do. As much as The Joker wants to cry about how that relationship isn’t possible, it is. It was given with the words of devs and can be taken away just as easily and still fit since conformation was never in the games. Like I said, Insomniac didn’t want it to be. So the point of all of this is, let’s see what Insomniac does next. Because this is definitely setting up something big for the future of the series. I’m just not sure what.

Hell no, imo ratchet has changed, well the developers made ratchet way too childish/family friendly. He was a badass lombax at first in the future saga and only helped people if het got profit but now he is like some sort of "Super hero" after into the nexus ratchet wasn't ratchet anymore
