@@singoflovesongs I wouldn't call it a jab so much as a parallel, he's obviously meant to be this games Sol Badguy and Tao calling him "good guy" is just a nod to that fact
@@MrTekhnical Well, he said that there wasn't anything in this game for him specifically, but he's encouraging other people who might find it interesting to try
@@MrTekhnical it's their loss. the game is great. just like GG is. thanks to Rollback there are more ppl playing BBCF than ever before if you look at the steam charts.
@@rainofkhandaq6678 which is so werid. cuz Simmons is a die hard fan of fucking xenoblade ppl who hate on anime to look kool just weird me out cuz they also like something that is from japan and is an animation too...hence anime. Ill never forget how they all clowned Under night in 2016 or so
18:20 "That's specifically what I'm into". Funny enough, Max was comparing Kokonoe with Baiken later on in terms of her design, even pulling up a side by side image comparison. Max definitely has a type.
Nice to see Koko getting some love. Funny how years ago the crew was ragging a bit on Koko's design during her Astral Finish than fast forward to now and Max actually thinks she's pretty cool after looking at her animations and seeing the similarities to Baiken.
Man, Max should totally do the Distortions and their Overdrive versions too, though that'd be a somewhat long Rate the Supers. Terumi specifically has really good ones.
@@HighLanderPonyYT Distortion, Overdrive, Exceed, Astrals I think Max need to redo the Astral video, he didn't cover all of them and missed out on some of my favorites
@@HighLanderPonyYT I mean ur not wrong, at the end of the day the supers could just be called supers but the lead dev felt the need to give them all distinct names and it can be hella confusing
I can't help but find it amusing that Ragna gets a sub par 2/10 Overdrive for being the series Protagonist, while Noel manages to get the best one and a 10/10 while still being the Main Heroine, lol.
@@SpanishFly120 Noel and Bang constantly alternate between buffs and nerfs between games. In the original version for each installment, they're nerfed, and then whatever buffs they get through updated versions of the game just cancel out those nerfs. It's been like this since Continuum Shift
Its somewhat crazy to me that someone so experienced in fighting games was asking chat for directions when theres a literal command list right there. If he wasn't asking but still listened to chat then that's a different problem entirely.
@@dontfearthestinger It's because he's not 100% into Blazblue. If it wasn't for the rollback announcement, he wouldn't have gone back. If it was MvC 4 or something crazy, he would have spent as much time as possible to find accurate info
When I looked into the lore, I realized lot of those characters are different versions of same characters. It's like a pokemon evolution in someway. Jin Kisaragi turns into Hakuman, and Hazama(green dude) turns into Terumi(yellow hoodie green dude) and later turns into Susanoo(robot looking green dude).
Its... REALLY complicated. Jin is Hakumen from a different timeline after getting sent back in time in the end of his story mod in Calamity Trigger. It's the only CANON ending of the game that isn't the main ending. In the canon ending, he doesn't go back in time, so we have a split of Jin becoming Hakumen 100 years in the past while still existing in the modern day. It's fucky tineline shenanigans. Hazama is a shell meant to play host for Terumi, a villain that played the role of a hero in the Dark War 100 years ago. Terumi eventually got fished out of the Boundary, and got shoved into Hazama. Then he got split from Hazama. Then he fused with Hakumen to become Susano'o. It's weird shit.
@@theqwertyman9309 And all of them have a murder boner for Ragna. It's just that Noel's was shut off, Izanami is too godly and logical to have her not play the long game with it (if everyone's dead, Ragna loses anyway, she doesn't even care if his soul time travels again), and Lambda is basically Noel -1 forced into Nu 2 but is still too pure hearted to be a psycho.
This stream actually got me into the game. Now I've found a group of people playing it, and it has become one of my favorite fighting games of all time. Thank you.
Wow, what a completely different tone from the last video. Acknowledging that it's not the type of game for you but giving it some respect. Much nicer than a whole fucking video of Simmons screaming "AAAAAANIIIIMEEEEE!!!" like a fucking child.
@@nolanlehman6392 Yeah, but when you keep fuckin doing it, it gets annoying. Plus, this game makes no attempt to hide how ridiculously anime it is. If you don't like the smell of curry but walk into an indian restaurant, you've got no one to blame but yourself.
The game I always admired from afar. Played a lot of single player. Never had good internet or confidence to go online. But finally getting somewhat into fighting games with Strive, I'll give it a shot. I'll probably get murdered by whoever still plays it in Europe, but I might as well try.
I'm new too, and there's a bunch of other newbies around. Ranked is BO1 only right now (hope they change it), but at least it lets you look for low rank players (the ones with white squares) and not get demolished too hard. I've played only a bit of online but it seems there's a bunch of new people trying the game out, it's been a good time. Also don't be afraid to accept 0 bar connections, they're usually at least playable, so you should be able to match against people outside of EU and get decent matches still.
Make sure to check out either the Hearts are Blazing or Blazblue EU Open discords as well, they're both very active european discords. Chances are probably higher that you'll find other newbies there.
The video you did of Astral finishes years ago is what brought me back to the series. Never stopped playing since then. My best friend and I only consider wins on who can get the most Astral in a set now. Lol, Thanks dood!
Blazblue Is actually the game that got me into fighting games in the first place It showed me the fact that we all know in this community: FIGHTING GAMES CAN BE COOL AS FUCK
No. Max got salty about a chatter giving him the Astral Command. even though he could've very easily just opened the Command List like a sane person if he wanted the Distortion commands.
Man I brought BB CF years ago and barely even played it, I forgot I even had this game. Perfect time for me to finally jump into it. I haven’t played Blazblue seriously since Calamity Trigger.
Once again, chat has screwed me out of the chance to see Max freak the fuck out over doing Kokonoe's Golden Tager super. Aww well, at least he gave Kokonoe's EA a 10. That's a win right there.
Oh, these are Exceed Accels, not Distortion Drives. Aaaah.... Well, Exceed Accels are the newest animations in BBCF so they are newest supers in BBCF so atleast they are the new things.
i really want to tell him that 1.Jubel's Astral have some special interaction with Terumi 2.for Terumi EA move is just this because it'll will be better move when combo DD and DD and EA(for me at least)
I am very excited about this. About a year ago I was dragged down the fighting game rabbit hole(in preparation for Strive) and out of all the games I tried(Accent Core, Xrd, Tekken 7, Street Fighter IV and BlazBlue), nothing gripped me as strong as Centralfiction(even watched the entire story lmao). I had so much fun with Es and Susano-o and the prospect of actually trying to learn them in an online setting that actually works is very hype.
I can’t believe Max came back to this game lol. This proves that with rollback, games like this can come back from the grave. Rollback is the future of FGC
If he was into that art style, he'd definitely be into Kokonoe. "If Baiken had the misfortune of being built like a stick and had a rebellious streak against her samurai dad" is a pretty apt description. Just this hardass top of her field junk food addict who wants to bring back old tech asap. She doesn't slack off, she just doesn't give a fuck when other people can do things for her.
The daughter of the world's strongest organism and most powerful magician but she chooses to become the world's best scientist to rebel against both of them. She was born with top tier STR and MAG but chose a build that uses neither stats.
Dude the more I watch Max over the years, the more I just wanna sit down and TALK VIDEO GAMES with him. I feel max over the years has developed just a good way of understanding video games and I generally just love his opinion cause he literally HAS YEARS ON KNOWING THE INDUSTRY. This guy is just a god.
I actually can't believe he did a Rate the Super for this game which he admitted he didn't even like or was never interested, before he did one for KOF 14. Crazy. Still waiting for that one. 😂
@@starbreaker6441 but if you look at his history of doing them he would usually do a legacy based on the announcement of a game then followed by a rate the super
To this day, I’m still sad that they never did an English dub for Centralfiction. At least they came back around to some of the new BBCF characters in Cross Tag Battle.
Yeah, but the Rate the Astral video from a few years ago didn't include every character. Edit: the full thing is divided into videos on Yo! Videogames. What I was referring to was the one video on it on the main channel.
Here’s a fun idea for the comment section, if Max did end up playing some online matches (or something offline like Grim of Abyss), what character could you see him playing as? Me personally I’d could see him playing Susanoo (because he liked him in BBTag), Azrael (because Unga bunga), Ragna (plays close to Sol) or Terumi (because stomping your opponent’s face into the ground is always fun). What about the rest of you?
Terumi is fun if you get the right setup you theoretically combine a majority of his supers into one combo since his OD allows him to cancel supers into other supers. Look up Unlimited Terumi if interested
I agree with Max. Please give it a shot if you like what you see. I can't see a damn thing and I like it. I think it was all the playable big bads that made me buy this thing around Christmas of 2017, subsequently delving into the series. That, and the myriad of distortions and exceed accels.
I really like Jubei's, dude's using his tails to dual wield katanas and then pins you to the wall and slices you up with everything at once, the last strike actually deflates it a bit i'd have built up the wall pin a bit more. Amane is a "needs more drills" out of 10.
I'm just gonna point out that blazblue did not get 3 updates, the second one was basically an update but the 3rd one is a vastly different game that uses the same assets. Then the 4th one was basically another update. Also rate all the supers when?
I've never played a BlazBlue game, but I bought this purely to contribute to the push for rollback and support Arc System Works even further (in addition to getting Strive when it released). Rollback is just so important and it's the main reason I even gave Strive a shot. I want this trend to continue.
12:15 Long story short is that Hazama was originally a soulless vessel for the spirit Yuki Terumi though eventually the two were permanently separated. You are right about Yuki Terumi being the evil version of Hazama, and considering Hazama is a cruel sociopath that says a lot about how vile Terumi is.
This is my top Fighting Game of All Time. Yes I say it. I love the Charakter, the World the rules and the lore. And this Animation. This Game in the New Look from Arc System Works damm.
This game started out being accused by GG fans as a baby, budget GG, but now it's a bigger and more complex game than most GGs. While GG became less complex, BB became more complex with each game.
I'd still say this and +R are about the same level. Let's also not forget that GG in general also got more complex each game, and only started to become less complex with Xrd, not to mention that BB didn't get a new entry in this time of trying to make fighting games simpler. Of course, depending on how you see the game, you could also say that BBTag, which is the most recent game, did simplify stuff But either way, people back then were stupid for putting faith in such meaningless comparisons. Blazblue was never Guilty Gear, and it didn't need to be. Even in its first iteration, it was its own thing, and its differences went beyond stuff like simplicity or difficulty
Same man. Honestly with the rollback being PC only and DLC still being an extra expense to the game, I think it would be a solid call to make a CF Extend for PS4/5 that doesn't add anything new like the previous Extends but just includes the DLC by default and then they can add a dub for that.
