My first edition is the latest Oxford classics and I love it! Later, I was lucky enough to hunt down an illustrated copy from 1925 with a gilded butterfly on the cover, and that one remains my absolute favorite

So good to see you again, Claudia. This was a unique video topic. You did quite a bit of research to find so many illustrations to demonstrate the evolution of the cover art. I think the peacock 🦚 feathers on the cover of the Penguin edition are not without meaning. In the vernacular of the late 19th C, Dorian could have been referred to as a “peacock”. He was very proud of his appearance and had an interest in things decorative.

I would add that the film _The Picture of Dorian Gray_ (1945) has for its time a particularly horrible image of the portrait. The film is in black and white, but when the portrait is revealed the film switches to color and shows the picture in all its gory detail. Thanks for your amusing video. 😂😂 (The Elibron Classics cover could be used for _Less Than Zero)_

I enjoyed this! And I quite liked the cover with Dorian and his grandfather. Sadly, my copy of Dorian Gray is the Penguin edition with the Bill Amberg leather cover, so there's no pattern on it. 🙁 By the way, I think the peacock feather was a symbol of the aesthetic movement, of which Oscar Wilde was part?

Great video! I actually like the kobo ebook "cover" saying "The Picture of Dorian Gray: What Would You do for Perpetual Youth?" Edit: I find the illustration uncanny, but without spoiling too much.
