@@PoopythePlumber he's been training a lot longer. Just being older alone gives you experience. That performance was the epitome of a fired up kid ready to dump everything into getting a win, instead of conserving energy and being a little smarter.
@@hashvendetta7226bro they were both burning energy. Raul set the pace in the first round and had Christian defending takedowns and submission after submission, he was on his back and making Christian carry his weight while defending. Raul needs to train more and increase his stamina. Don5 take anything away from Christian. Raul simply bit off more than he can chew.
Lessons learned: 1. There is no fountain of youth but if you're observed by Chael at a certain age, you stay that age, unless you're Francis Ngannou, in which case no one knows how old you are, but you're *at least* 36. 2. Compare yourself to others and don't do your best unless you have to in order to win. It's like Chael's nephew Conor learned that one time he was inefficient with his energy.
Remember, most of the "life lessons" taught to us were from the same sort of people that choose to be schoolteachers. Don't be yourself. Compare yourself to the best and try to be that.
First time losing a fight was against a 26 year old when I was 17. I had honestly never taken such hard punches and had most my punches whiffed before until fighting someone more experienced and older than me, the strength difference was huge but seeing how more calm and technical my opponent was is what really stumped me because I hadn’t lost since I was 13. It’s crazy Rosas Jr is in the UFC, he’s young enough to bounce back but man he has to really go against some dawgs to really fulfill his potential. Rooting for him.
To be 18 and having to fight grown men is nothing easy (unless you’re Mike Tyson and you’re 25 at 15) I’m 18 and boxed a 25 year old a few weeks ago. He was less experienced than me and I did win but that was by far the hardest fight I’ve ever had. The age factor plays such a massive part when you’re so young. There is such a big strength difference even when you’re the same size. The fact Rosas is even in the ufc is something to admire
Moments like the one that young man experienced on Saturday is what decides what your made of. His in the big leagues now. He is so young and already of to a fast start that he thinks its all physical game and hasnt really started developing his mental game. Fight smarter not only harder! He'll be ok I hope
He needs better takedowns too if he’s gonna go broke for wrestling the first round. He will have to do that all rounds and success if he wants to use the Khabib method.
I played a little street hoops this morning. There was a 14 year old kid, probably 6’2 and already pretty good. I think he has a chance to play college ball. Goes up 11-2 on me, but I summoned the old man strength and beat him 16-14. Back is feeling it, but worth it to teach a young kid a lesson.
@@WhereIsSchmitty he’s only 14. And his two older brothers are both 6’6 and played d2 ball. I might be an old guy but I’m also a former collegiate athlete and could have played d3 or juco basketball but choose football instead. And the post was mostly a joke, but thanks anyway.
Chael aware of the passage of time but still believes Raul Rosas is 17. I guess if he was 17 and Chael remembers him being 17 that negates the passage of time. Undefeated, undisputed?
I actually admired his attitude of going out there like a ball of fire and trying to win gloriously in that first round... and lose if he doesn't. If the plan had worked, he would've immediately looked like a superstar. It didn't so he has to take a longer route for I sure don't blame him for wanting to take that huge shortcut.
5:25 im sure someone before that took conditioning into consideration in competition. One i can point to is rocky Marcianos gas tank and road work he kept up alot of boxers till this day dont do what he did in regards to building stamina. He hit almost as hard in later rounds as he did in early rounds. Hence why he got those late fight knockouts when he was fighting giants (those fighters that obviously towered above him in physique.
I did three 2 min rounds of heavy sparring last week with some 14oz pillows and a mouth guard so I could only breathe through my nose and I feel like I only got somewhat of a feel for what a fighter feels when they get exhausted
On a side note I do hate that winning a round by a lot but not enough for a stoppage is a 10-9 and that clearly winning a round but not by a lot is also a 10-9. I love that the UFC has made losing acceptable. I wish we could make draws acceptable and also just put judges' scorecards on the screen when announced. 10-10 close round, no clear winner 10-9 a clear winner 10-8 a dominant winner 10-7 stop the fight Also if you secure takedowns and position without the cage it should be scored as high as damage even if you don't do much with it because of how many techniques are illegal against downed opponents. If you secure takedowns and position with the cage they shouldn't be scored for much since it's an artificial and not very realistic element of a fight. Cage grab and eye poke fouls should be automatic point deductions and cage grabs should grant the position too. 12-6 elbows, headbutts, and knees to downed opponents should all be made legal.
Raul Rosa's Jr blew his entire load in round 1!! He bet the house on a finish and gassed himself out the rest of the fight. That knee in the 2nd round rocked him as well.
I see a kid that has accomplished more than enough to compete with killers at the age of 18…That’s impressive enough! He’s a few years from being a child and already seems locked in on the right path 🤷🏻♂️ seems religious and determined while dealing with the normal adversities growing up. It’s inspiring 😎
The one luxury he has that most don't is alot more time , he's only going to get better and he really needs to learn to strike luckily he has time for both by the time he's 23-25 he should be a machine
Been watching long enough to know that after he came out guns blazing and couldnt get him down it wasnt going to end well for him and sure enough he tried his best Khamzat Chimaev impression and didnt work like he thought it would lol but love how he handled himself after his loss. Shows he learned something from his loss.
His striking and submission game were absolutely embarrassing in his last fight and if it wasn't for the the heavy cup shot I believe Jamie Pickett, a fighter with almost as many losses as he has wins on his record would have really tested him. That being said khabibs striking was absolutely terrible when he first joined the UFC so who knows.. I just think that all this hype will be detrimental to him in the short term and as soon as he steps in the cage with a fighter who has some level of takedown defense than the hypetrains getting derailed before it's even started. Surely you can't watch that fight back and look me in the eyes, man to man and try n sell me on the fact that Bo Nickals striking wasnt so bad it was almost laughable. Up there with one of the worst all round performances I've ever seen in the UFC.
@@kev30631 i whole heartedly believe that Raul rosas Jr is a better overall MMA fighter than Bo Nickel has shown to be until today, he has more strings to his bow. Both looked amateurish if I'm being honest in the majority of their overall game though. Y'all gonna disagree obviously, same way people were disagreeing with me before Rosas Jr held his first L and got exposed. Y'all kids all ready to hop on the hype trains until they get derailed than youre nowhere to be found. The minute Bo nickal can't force his opponent into wrestling him, it's going to look like the most one sided UFC fight you've ever witnessed.
The collegiate wrestlers give up the back to easy when it goes to the ground. Hard habit to break. I'm not ready to say Bo is a bust nor a preordained champ either.
Its just like Goggins says. Guys like Rosas Jr. are talented but once their talent takes them as far as it will go they are shit out of luck because they don't have that mental game that comes when you have to dig deep to get yourself out of a bad situation.
If that man keeps fighting people are going to be terrified once he starts to get into his physical prime. Mark my words if he keeps at it he will seem untouchable.
Was an EASY bet. Hype trains of this age means experience and maturity is going to play a vital part in the fight. Rosas talking about Aljo and thinking he can jump in with that and hang was funny. He is great on the mat. That is it right now. UFC is going to be super careful with him going forward. They thought after that pop he had they had a new star. He was fighting a real fighter too.
He did sprint the 1 first round non stop!! He did gassout that's it. He was convinced he was going to deestroy Rodriguez, but he was wrong. Big lesson learned!!! Nit everybody is a Khamzat
Fast-tracking him with all the hype that he had was a mistake. It was the same thing they did with Sage Northcutt when he was 19. He was undefeated with a handful of fights at 18, he didn't need to be thrown to the wolves right away.
U can't call him a fighter a fighter fights thats not what he did he wants to wrestle/grapple wish the kid luck he has a big fan base for only his second fight
Christian was purposely letting the kid gas out. He could have given the kid more resistance in the 1st round but he knew what he was doing. Rosas if he was a better fighter could have overwhelmed Rodriguez and gotten to a place where he could rest while dominating. Look at Khabib. The difference is Rosas can't get his takedown and gasses out trying to get it and these other fighters actually succeed in their techniques. The kid isn't strong enough or skilled enough for this level and that is why he can't rest and why he gasses out
10 fights vs 2 fights is a significant difference in advantage. Even more so at the beginning of your pro career than later. Christian has way more fights pre ufc than Raul as well soooooo yea it’s common sense as to who would have the advantage. Christian didn’t get that Dana White Privilege like Raul luckily got due to fan’s obsession bc of his age and what not. That basically puts Raul at a disadvantage by throwing him to the wolves. His career might end short sadly. Dana should’ve told him to get 2-3 years more experience and promise him a spot when he’s gained enough time in the octagon.
Rosas Jr. needs to learn how to strike. He couldn't hit Rodriguez and every time he tried he got hit back 2-3 times. His initial round was great, but he gassed trying to get a choke he couldn't get and he had zero ideas once he couldn't get another takedown to the point that Rodriguez was securing takedowns and position.
He needs to learn some striking, he didn't want any part of the stand up wit C-Rod, he seems way too one dimensional with grappling/wrestling, and his cardio is sus AF too🌜
Who was the young American kid in belator a few years back and people where saying he's gonna a all time fighter and lost a few fights very early by KO and I haven't heard his name mentioned since
@chael sonnen 03:25 really!!!! The first fight of the early prelims. Amorim did the same exact thing that you explained to Hughes. She tired herself out in the first round. Did the same exact thing as rosas did and burnt out.
Yeah, he DID do the most exhausting thing possible...... that's why he didn't have anything left the rest of the fight. I think this will be good for him to lose like this now and grow from it. He has the raw talent. Adversity creates growth. Or, it weakens your foundation and you crumble because of it. The kid just used his whole wad chasing shit that wasn't there. He tried to brute force his way to the win column. Now he knows that's not always enough. Polish the sword and get back to work. And maybe realize he's in the big show now and get his mom out of his damn corner..... get a REAL corner.
