One of the most celebrated performers in the world today, violinist Hilary Hahn is known for her virtuosity and expressive interpretations, as well as her advocacy of new music. The three-time GRAMMY winner has commissioned works by a range of composers, from Edgar Meyer to Einojuhani Rautavaara, whose final work Deux Sérénades Hahn recently recorded with Mikko Franck and Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France. Hahn also embarked on a multi-year, GRAMMY-winning commissioning project, In 27 Pieces: the Hilary Hahn Encores, to revitalize the duo encore genre. In 2019, Boosey & Hawkes published a complete print edition of the project that contains Hahn’s fingerings, bowings, and performance notes, providing the next generation of violinists with a host of contemporary encore options.

It is my favorite one from the album, also because it reminds me of the Adagio for Strings from Barber. I don't know if it is a common theme, or the composer took some idea from that piece, but those parts definitely have similarities.

I heartedly invite Ms. Hahn to play the most famous Chinese Violin Concerto: The Butterfly Lovers. The first recording album of this piece, if my knowledge is correct, was performed by Ms. Takako Nishizaki and Nagoya Philharmonic Orchestra. I personally think it is still the best performance so far. Even Ms. Nishizaki herself could not retain the spirit after that, perhaps NPO outperformed all that I heard as well. However, Mr. Gil Shaham did a recording not long ago and it was outstanding. His skills find no match than any other recordings I have heard. But Nishizaki with NPO still touches me deeper. I cry every time I listen. I feel Nishizaki catches the main character's mind and heart to a much deeper level. Maybe she is also a woman, or maybe she spent more time to contemplate and feel. Ms. Hahn is my favorite violinist. I believe she has the combination of both the best skills and she is a woman. Woman understands woman better. I don't know how to make Ms. Hahn read my request. I have been having this dream for quite a while.
