Yes, the OEM hitch needs a bumper cut out due to its higher ground clearance. Toyota includes the edge protector with the hitch. If you see part 1 of this video series, I've shown the cutting the bumper. Unlike others, I cut the bumper before removing it.

My trailer lights work and everything seems to be installed correctly, but when I reconnected the battery and drove around I got a Pre-collision system malfunction error. Any ideas what may be causing that error code?
Pre-collision system malfunction error occurs when the sensor is blocked or dirty. The pre-collision detection sensor is in the front of your car behind the Toyota logo. You can wipe off the logo in the front and then open the hood and blow the dust and dirt behind it with a blower.
I bought it from Toyota dealer at their Parts section. You need to give them your car's year and trim details to get the exact part. It changes based on your trim level.
