I was just in my car listening to 99.5 Boston symphony station and I heard this piece of mind blowing, gorgeous music. I couldn't believe my ears. This music moves you. It's as if you've gone to a netherworld. I'd love to see this performed one day, live. Incredible!
Bravo flute section...splendid!! Absolutely killed the flute runs, especially that piccolo and the Alto flute!!! All around amazing flutes and the solo!!
It is a tribute to Ravel that when Daphnis et Chloe is performed, the conductor, the musicians, and the audiences are in another universe of joy! Look at the faces of the conductor and the musicians. Sublimity and sheer joy! Whenever I go to performances of Daphnis et Chloe whether done as Suites or complete, there is always a standing ovation and an enthusiasm that follows the performance of this work! What has Ravel achieved here? He is divine!
THANK YOU KIM CUL DEOK FOR SHARING THIS SUITE CONDUCTED IN THE MOST TOUCHING AND HEROIC WAY BY MAESTRO MYUNG WHUN CHUNG . . .. . . IT COMES FROM HIS HEART DIRECTLY TO OURS !!!! . . . BRAVO . .. !!!! . . GREETINGS FROM MEXICO . . . . . ... . !!
Since de point of view of the conductor this score is absolutely needed to be played by a female flutist. Woman have their sound. I can know if a flute or a cello is played by a woman or a guy. Maybe some male can too, but it would be really wird. I enjoy also Magdalena Martínez version, flute soloist at Barcelona City Orch. thanks to whom i heard this Suite for first time. I was playing cello and my mind opened and flyed away nearly for ten minuts until last part. Herr Decker was at the baton. Thas was an before and after point. Let's congratulate Magalí, all the soloists, the whole orchestra and the conductor Mr. Chung, as he is so clear, nothing superflous added, impressive, efective, a pleasure since my point of view of humble conductor

I love seeing different performances of this part and comparing/contrasting them. I have synesthesia, so they all have slightly different textures to me. This one feels like it has a lot of sleek, metallic/glassy edges and more contrast in light and dark than some of the other performances of Daybreak!
Thank you for the correct interpretation and for the choir. Ravel insisted to choir when Djagilev wanted to leave out by reason of costs. Since than nearly every orchestra plays without choir, but that is a hubris to the composer.
It is not hubris if it is what the composer had in mind. THE COMPOSER, and not you. Do you know more than Ravel. Yeah, I don't think so. Hubris....groan.
@@gilbertdaroy6080 Are you a Frenchman? I suggest to read this english comment one more time and try to understand it before you are indignant at that.
@@gilbertdaroy6080 Your comment comes from 'left field'. Mr. Contrapunct is saying that the composer wanted the choir when the orchestra performs this piece. What in the hell are you talking about?
