During the cinematic moment where you have to keep shooting at him after the counter, its better to use the beams instead of missiles, it does more damage, and gets you to the wing phase faster
I used Power Bombs to destroy both “Black Holes” and the “Sun Wave Ball”. You get health and Missiles from both. Makes the Boss WAY EASIER. You just need the right timing.
Didn’t know that about the black orbs, makes the first phase so much easier. The final phase with the giant laser and sun rays gives me The Radiant (Hollow Knight) PTSD.
I'm crying on phase 1. Why do we need 10,000 hours of Metroid to finish a simple title. That one bad gamer who did a review was right. This game sucks because it's too hard. It's not a game it's an arena challenge.
@@TheRealAudioDidact Not all games are meant to be easily conquered. I'd say it's all in the name, this is a game you should Dread. For me, the challenge definitely delivered on that threat.
@@TheRealAudioDidact yeah i enjoyed the challenge. Although it only took me like 5 attempts to beat him so it probably wasn’t as frustrating for me as it is for you. Ive played a lot of metroidvanias though so im used to this sort of stuff. Keep practicing and you’ll get through it. It’s mostly muscle memory
5:04 I did a little experiment and found out you can destroy the giant orb with power bombs. So once he starts charging up the orb start charging your power bomb.
For second phase I highly recommend using storm missiles instead of manually aiming. The windows where he can be safely attacked are very small, and he takes 5 volleys of storm missiles. All you need to do is hold the right bumper in and then let loose when you have a moment. Makes this phase much shorter overall.
I was thinking that when I watched this. Storms missiles felt like one of the most powerful upgrades of the game and became integral to me beating everything after that point.
@@samwaterlord6888 I swear. I’ve pumped him with like a dozen storms, and STILL died before his 3rd phase appeared. The missiles you have to fire seem endless.
You can do it!! If you're struggling with a specific phase, I suggest dedicating an attempt to just dodging. Don't worry about getting damage in, just become more and more comfortable with dodging all his attacks. You got this!!!
Learn the patterns don’t get flustered when you get hit, calmly think about what the next move and how to avoid it is, get comfortable with your whole move-set and how to use it in combat (the aeion dash is a god send)
Yeah same with me.... BUT I’ve mastered the first phase, getting the hang of the second , and the third? Not really, and finally the fourth, well I haven’t got there yet
There is actually a way to trigger Raven Beaks parry attack in Phase 1. After he did his laser attack, simply just jump over him. His next attack will be guaranteed the parry attack.
Phase 2 is definitely the hardest part of the boss fight; without the opportunity to parry his attacks. For phase 1, it's much more effective to spam regular beam attacks during the counter sections. As for phase 3, you can use a power bomb to destroy the globe.
This boss is legitimately so hard that I almost cried due how desperate I was. I had to look on internet to even stand a chance against him and I honestly feel bad for doing this. This is one of the most stress inducing ending ever made especially when you try to get out of the planet with the timer and you don’t know if failing means you have to fight this boss again.
I think the game in general was too hard. It's probably my least favourite metroid game. There seems to be a Trend in video games in recent years where the Devs think making a game frustratingly difficult means it's good.
This was my first Metroid game (although I’ve played other metroidvania games). It was frustratingly hard, the controls hurt my fingers and sometimes I wanted to cry from the e.m.i’s. but I beat it this night and I feel so proud. I got better as I played and found most of the items. I did look at this for how to beat the final boss. Thank you!
Glad you were able to overcome the difficulty and enjoyed the trip! Since you obviously own a Switch, you should consider giving Super Metroid a try!!! For a SNES game, it is very mechanically and technologically advanced for its time. Not too difficult or unforgiving. Plenty of action and adventure that are more than worthwhile.
I've played other Metroid games before and I have the same opinion of this one as you do but I never feel proud of myself whenever I finally beat an annoying or frustrating boss because of it being hard I just get annoyed that it's so hard, and I have never understood why people feel so good when they break something that was super hard... But I guess that's just me

@@Steelilbies I’ve only just managed to get past the winged phase of the fight but I die within seconds of the final phase. I’m just bad at this game. I don’t even know how I made it all the way to the final boss in the first place because it’s been a struggle all the way lol
It took me like two hours, but I FINALLY beat Raven Beak. My tips: 1. When you melee counter, use the regular blaster and not missiles. It ends phase one much faster. 2. In phase two, use the multi missiles, but only after you dodge Raven Beak from swooping down or across. When he does the gun, just try avoiding the bullets and focus less on hitting him. You can also do the missiles when he does the big gun, which is easy to avoid as he shoots it at an angle. 3. In Phase three, use the super bomb to destroy the big yellow orb. After some practice, you'll get to a point where you won't get damaged in the first two phases and you will get enough energy/missiles back in the third phase that any damage you take you won't likely die from it. Such a fun, epic final boss fight. Bravo!

Lol that’s how Metroid bosses are until you learn em then it’s easy. I’m glad the kept the tradition of easy ways to kill some bosses if you think outside the box. Like shine spark insta kill one of them or if you sequence break and get bombs early there’s a secret way to kill Kraid with a special cutscene going inside him to kill early. Love this game
Tip for people struggling as well if you go into the counter attack with a lv 1 storm missle charge and then spam regular missles afterward if you're quick enough you can do enough damage yo move him onto the next phase immediately. Normally you have to counter him twice to get enough damage in but if you start your combo with a storm missile barrage followed with a quick enough missile spam he'll move onto whatever stage is next instantly. With this method if you catch each parry as soon as they're released you can kill him in about 4 mins, its hard but not impossible and quite fun to pull off while also making you feel like a badass while doing it.
I’ve tried to beat this boss at least 50 times now and I just can’t seem to do a solid circle spin around Raven Beak when he shoots the machine gun type lasers at Samus. It’s driving me crazy!
What made it easy for me Phase 1: dodge his attacks, focus on counters and shooting the orb. you barely need to attack him during phase 1 only counter. During the “cutscenes” spam your beam. Phase 2: shoot him with missiles and dodge his attacks by space jumping Phase 3: blow up the sun with power bombs it will give you health and ammo. Shoot the orb for more health and ammo. Shoot him with missiles and counter. edit: as soon as he’s done with the overhead beam, space jump out of his way
Storm Missiles are really useful for the Winged Phase. You don't need to be free aiming for him, just holding the button down and it'll make targets so long as your aim hits him while you're moving around.
Man, thanks for this, I honestly couldn't tell what the hell was going on at all. Didn't help that I only had 45% of All Items apparently 🤣 but I did it in the end and it was awesome, would've hated to be stuck and FUMING at the end considering how good the Story wrapped up and everything... I'd definitely rank it up there as one of my all time favourites and was worth the 19 Year wait, Fusion is still the best one though imo. Considering that Mercury Steam originally pitched a Metroid Fusion Remake back when they did Samus Returns, and the Intro of Dread (with the games great graphics engine) with its Fusion Scenes I'd LOVE to see them get the opportunity to do that Fusion Remake using the Dread Engine now 😁 🙌
U did it without going back to get the health and missiles? Because... I seen this video and saw his health n missiles and said "oh nah I'm sending this game back"...there I got like half of his health n missiles 😆
@@wedastars Yep, only 45% Items the first time (just had to beat him with basically no hits being taken basically) went back and got 100% after (Actually the first time I have done that in a Metroid game I think 🤔 👍)
This fight was super easy once I saw this vid and found out that I just needed to slide to avoid Raven Beaks phase 2 charge. Oh and that Charge Missiles suck and just to spam regular ice missiles on him.

For those who have troubles with the parrying, you don't need to do all of them. Focus on the one at 0:32 ( which he missed ) and the one at 1:15 ( which he also missed ), these are not that hard and also give a lot of health. After the parry, don't use missiles or charged shots but just regulair shots.
This was such a big help. And since my game keeps crashing as I destroy the door to the tunnel for my ship, I've had at least three chances to fight him now. Hopefully once I reinstall the game, I can finally finish it.
@@IanStorm7 Not if it's the first time. And when the game closes, it reloads from the last save room, ie: before you even started the boss fight. I know because I've been pushing both buttons multiple times to try and skip.
Thank you for this guide. It helped to learn missiles will destroy the black orbs and give you health. I thought the goal of that was to send the orb back at him or lure it to him to damage him. As soon as I learned about destroying the orb from your guide, the fight turned WAY more manageable.
I died about 3 times on my first time with this boss. I literally had to look up how to get past the first phase. Funny enough after that phase, I had no trouble despite the 2nd phase being generally harder.
During the first phase, if you use beam until the first counter you can just dodge his attacks until the second counter. He’ll skip his golden phase and go straight to wing phase.
Lol. Been trying for 2 hours. Just realized I’m doing this with 4 health tanks. Fuck if I’m going to backtrack for collectibles. Been a fun ride. First and last Metroid for sure.
@@Snipereye64 Yes, you can take the elevator back down and leave to go backtracking for more pickups. Then just take the elevator back up when you’re ready to return.

After playing for the entire day, I've finally reached the final boss. When I saw this guide I immediately called it a day and decided to fight the boss another day. Lmao! I'll have to collect all the collectibles before I fight this boss
Wow, thanks dude! Guide was super helpful. It's the second part giving me the most trouble. Third part I managed to do first time (use the power b*mb to destroy the sun orb). Literally shaking after that. I wasn't expecting this game to be this difficult but it's amazing after defeating it. I've beat Ninja Gaiden 2, Doom Eternal and Metroid Dread seemed harder than both of those to me so don't get discouraged if you're struggling. Still an amazing game.
Just clicked the first result for ‘raven beak’ I found so I could say somewhere that I beat Dread Mode just now. It was at a low item percentage-about 25%-too! though I have nothing on speedrunners of course. For me, this game is probably the single one that has ever come closest to delivering a perfectly fair yet hugely challenging and rewarding experience, all served with ladles and ladles and ladles of FUN and EPICNESS and AWESOMENESS!! I don’t think I can find any criticisms of unfairness for it actually, besides the ordinary messy map gettting-lost in Metroid stuff. Took me hours and hours to beat this boss on Dread Mode but it was so well designed I kept wanting more and never was once frustrated. Simply one of the stellar few best games ever made. Not of mortal hands, divine.
I cannot reach to phase 3 I tried many times, I came to watch and I learned a lot thank you I felt that No matter how many times I hit it and dodge when He is flying but it It seems like an infinite loop. Thanks for the help.
I admit on my first run in with him (tried twice and was like 'Holy shit.. HOW?" goes to show, yeah.. that one parry attack i noticed and missed is how. >.< That being said.. I figured that the black ball is targetable when I tried the lock on missile barrage, it takes it out in one hit (bit very risky due to charge). That being said, I also found out it can get pretty big just playing keep away.
I’m suprised no one in these videos ever uses the storm missile. ITS SO UNDER RATED. I used it in all of the boss battles I could, honeslty cuts the time down significantly and you can lock on when you’re dodging.

Yea it's part of the reason I love it so much. You need to take everything you've learned throughout the game and be able to recall it at a second's notice.
The bullet attack is just ridiculous. Every other attack is relatively easy to avoid but the jump feels so inconsistent that it's hard to avoid the bullets and they just go on and on over and over again
I could be wrong but I think you can deal more damage in this fight with the regular shots after you parry, instead of missles. I parryed him once in the first phase and got him to the 2nd phase with regular shots.
For anyone struggling against Raven Beak the answer is a controller with turbo mode. Due to a hand injury suffered in my 20s followed by early onset of arthritis I struggle with mashing the fire button for any protracted period so getting a turbo controller was really my only option. Once I learnt his attack patterns I could end Phase 1 with full health and ammo. Phase 2 was almost full health but depleted ammo (I found missiles to be better than beam) and I beat Phase 3 on my second attempt. I know some people will say it's cheating but I doubt I'd have seen the end credits without my trusty turbo controller and I only used it on the last boss. For those interested the controller I'm using is a Diswoe Switch Pro Controller. It's well built and a good price - I can recommend it but Raven Beak doesn't!
Ok so I’m late I know and odds are someone already figured this out but the power bomb camel out that sun orb on the third phase can be canceled out by your mega bomb. He also starts using mostly phase one moves.
Note: Don't bother attacking him on phase 1. Just counter and attack during cinematic. Definitely needed this guide. Only had 3 power bombs, but thankfully he didn't use 3 suns when I beat him. Phase 2 was the easiest phase. Phase 3 was the hardest if he used the sun more than 3 times since I only had 3 power orbs 😅
Lol 😅 How did you manage to only have 3 power bombs after reaching the surface? Why not just go back and find more? I always 100% all items before facing the final boss in Metroid games. Wasn’t easy though, cause a few of the shinespark puzzles in this game were wild! Challenging for sure.

@@Xeyyakkenn wait…lol…you got through the whole game without even knowing what shinesparking is? 😂 Did you actually PLAY this game? 😅 Shinesparking is something we do while Speedboosting. You did use Speedbooster, right? It sounds like you might need to play this game a second time and learn the techniques that Metroid is known for. Metroid is more of an exploration game than a shooter, so if you only got 33% items, then you missed out on a whole lot of fun. Finding all the hidden areas and figuring out how to get the items that seem out of reach. That’s 50% of what makes Metroid Metroid.
How do you counter the beckon. I'm up to this point and been fighting him now for an hour and I no longer am getting hit by anything I'm so good now at this part... but every time I hit x after flash at beckon part nothing happens. Update. Had to quit due to blisters. Good lord this counter crap is dumb
Phase 1: Counter is Key, Dodge and counter the attacks you can Phase 2: Dodging is the most important in this phase, when ever you get a chance shoot him, even your beam works Phase 3: Pretty much the same as 1 but there’s a couple new attacks and an extra counter at the end That’s what i learned from this battle
