Dude, I was about to fucking destroy this game with my hands in a rage of anguish. You saved me, I never would tought that the big fucking ball in phase 3 can be destroyed with a super bomb. In fact I think phase 3 is easier than phase 2.
Dude I'm a grown ass man and I haven't yelled at a game like this since I was a kid. LOL I'm just entering the final boss and I really don't know if I want to take him on right now after my rage level of the last two bosses.
To all the 40 to 50-year-old guys dealing with this one - it is ok if it takes all week - I am on death 454...but I reckon I will get him this weekend.
@Branden Combs You can get him to the states of countering with being a human turbo controller, but you still have to counter him. Otherwise the phases don't transit. Especially when he becomes golden bird and invincible.
Whew, did not know you could counter his red dash. Would’ve never beat him if I hadn’t known that and you can power slide under him his 2nd phase. You sir are a hero for this guide.
If you don't want to trigger raven beak's golden armor, here's the simplest thing to do. Only fire at raven beak during the cut scenes, third time is a charm. Once you get this, he's actually one of the easier bosses.
Amazing boss. He wiped the floor with my face many times, but I finally did it. Thankfully, once I reached the third phase I won. The second one is the real pain.
So many good tips in this! I had NO idea about the supernovas being able to be destroyed. I thought they were invincible and got so mad! Also props for pointing out all the counter opportunities, really shortened phase 1 for me! And I never thought of snagging a lock-on while spinning around him in phase 2, but that helped a lot.
I was about to give up on this until I followed your advice. I managed to finish him with most of my health intact after multiple attempts. The power bomb helped and dealt with the sun orbs swiftly 👍
I know I’m late to the party but thank you because of this walkthrough video I finally beat Metroid dread!! Such an awesome game! Definitely almost gave up a few times throughout but I pushed through and it feels good to say I finally beat this game!!
Lol holy ****!!!! You are an absolute beast, man! I can only imagine what you went through to be able to record this without taking any damage. I've exhausted my patience with this fight for the day so I'll study this game plan and try again later. Thanks!
Once u get the rhythm of his attacks down its not that hard, took me about an hour to get ahang of it after watchin this vid, phase 2 is the most annoying part 💯
Seeing you get through this fight without taking any damage at all makes me want to cry. I’ve been losing this fight for two days straight, have lost count of how many times I’ve failed even after watching all these strategy guides. I’m thinking it might be better to just give up and watch how the game ends on RU-vid.
Top gameplay and easy to follow strats and guides. Happy I stumbled upon this miracle channel now have another Metroid game down in the books loved this game so much
one of the best bosses in any game truly. challenging but fair and this game has such fun mechanics, all the looking around for items and stuff finally leading up to an intense fight.
@@KDubb-ws9zc I've tried a little of it, but the jumps are difficult for me. I couldn't get past this one quicksand area. Same with a lot of those old pixel art Metroid games. Fusion gives me fits. Dread's still the only one I've beaten, but I keep chipping away at the others.
@@chrissysonicutdrloz the graphics in super Metroid still hold up extremely well to this day but it does take some getting used to if you aren’t familiar with 16 but era games. I’ve finished both the NES original and Super and I can tell you Super is a godsend compared to the nes version lol
Thank you very much for this guide. After 2 hours I had given up and exited my game. On a whim I decided to look up a guide to help for the next time I played and found your video. My dumb ass didn't realize that you could use a power bomb to take out the large orb. Even worse is I hadn't collected many of the tanks in the game so I was at a health disadvantage. After viewing your video I tried the boss once more and beat it first try, with full health to boot. For that, I will do something I never do which is like your video. I will also subscribe even though I wouldn't have otherwise.
Same dude! I was playing this a few days before release so nobody had the answer. I was getting demolished by that nova. Decided I had to figure out a way around it. And then I drop the power bomb…. 🙃
Raven Beak at first reminded me of a secret boss in a KH game like Lingering Will or something, but once you learn the pattern he's actually very easy to deal with. Still one of the more epic first time bosses I've ever experienced in a Metroid Game. Wish I could fight him for the first time all over again. What a ride.
Something I learned: during phase two, try to keep Raven Beak in the center of the arena. If he's hugging a wall when he locks on to Samus, you won't be able to avoid his barrage attack and will have to take a hit or several.
I had no idea that when he flashed gold he was invincible, just kept firing my missiles and wondered why he wasn't dying haha. This guide helped a lot. Thanks.
I might be wrong about this, but the trick to beat him was introduced in the beginning. Countering takes out the shield and can be attacked. That was weird.
The game was pretty fair with its difficulty until the boss. In typical Nintendo fashion, there just had to be a very specific trivial way to progress. I figured out he was invincible when gold but didn't realize it was all about just countering at first. Once i saw this video and learned that, it was pretty easy. This video saved me! Thanks man
Thank you for the video, took me an hour of failed attempts. All your tips really helped with phase 2. Phase 1 wasn't as bad and phase 3 took 1 or 2 attempts.
He's pretty tough, but once I got used to him, he was really fun to fight against. The second phase can still be tricky, and I was more likely to die against him there due to the lack of counterable attacks. I quickly figured out the supernova could be countered with Super Bombs, and it was a good source of healing with that in mind, making Phase 3 a bit easier. But overall, Ashkar is one of the final bosses I loved fighting the most. Not as much as Metroid Prime, but it was very close. At the least, he's probably the coolest 2.5D Metroid boss. The stuff that I love about the best bosses in the Zelda or Metroid franchises are how they reward you for finding hidden items throughout the games. As a point of comparison, the final bosses of Fusion made most of your upgrades useless because SA-X can only be hurt by the Charge Beam or Screw Attack, Omega Metroid can only be hurt by the Ice Beam, and neither can be hurt by power bombs or missiles by extension. Metroid Prime is easier to fight if you have all the missile upgrades to use your power missiles and ice spreader on him more frequently, and the power bombs can kill the Fission Metroids easier. For Raven Beak, the storm missiles will really mess him up and the power bombs can more easily destroy his projectiles to get more of your own, and you can have up to 15 of them. It's not even required, just more comfortable and easy if you do collect them all.
side tip for ravenbeak during phase 1 (i actually did this and still currently on this final boss) if you manage to actually to counter both of the counter opportunity u can actually skip the "parry only" phase edit: was only using wave beam not rockets lol XD
I made slow but steady progress all the way up till the last phase and at that point I just gave up. I could not figure out how to get rid of sun looking thing but after I watched this I beat him on my first try lol
How to defend the flying phase: “Auto-lock missiles” ;) auto-lock missiles ;) auto-lock.. missiles ;) ;);) remember… in case you missed it: auto-lock missiles;)
So i refused to look up tactic vids on the final boss and when i finally beat him i went here. I discovered that. 1. You can destroy the purple orb with 4 missiles (i used a power bomb for it. 2. You can counter his red dash ( i just avoided them). 3. You can destroy the super nova by power bombing it (i just dealt with the damaging lines coming from it while also avoiding his super laser at the same time. Also i went into the fight with about half the energy tanks and half the missile capacity. I feel pretty good about failing it like 30 times before beating it with my uninformed tactic lol
THANK YOU! I first tried on my own, got owned!! XD Found a guide, got slightly better, but couldn't even beat faze 1! After watching this I got further for each try, and made it in about 5 attempts!! Managed to F up the fight after the battle...Got Game Over...Thought I had to go again! D= Was ready for it though, cause when I did make it, I made it with somewhat ease! But no, there is a temp save after the boss fight, thankfully! =P
Thanks your video guide helped me score a win on my first attempt on the final boss. I lost to every boss and mini boss, but you explained everything perfectly. Much appreciated.
this was a big help, i only seem to find videos of people fighting him flawlessly, no one explains the attacks so i understand what im looking at. only thing im missing is how to continue the counter, i dont seem to get into the counter extra damage mode when i counter
@@GamingSinceGaming well i watched this video while fighting the final boss, after 15 attempts before and a day off, your video helped me get it in 2 shots, so thank you
Does anyone know the differences in how much damage missiles do vs beam? I never know if I should be using ICE missiles, fast normal beam shots, charged shots, or storm missiles... especially in the "free damage" phases after a successful counter.
I don't know about one statement you said. "Storm missiles will do more damage". I saw someone deciphering numerical damage code in Dread. Storm missiles do 150 for one missile and 300 for max damage. Meanwhile, Ice missiles do 400 damage per missile .what makes Storm useful is that they don't miss
I don't think he can be damaged at all in phase 1 unless you counter attack. I don't really see any difference. Now I'm getting every time to phase II, with maxed health even. But MAN. It just doesn't go down!
great guide, well shown and explained with nothing unnecessary added. but yeah, im not very good at games really and hard games like soulslikes i just generally dont bother with, but i beat samus returns and love this series so i really wanted to push through this. thanks a lot dude. wow, really hard fight though - i think it's well made in that makes you use your whole arsenal of weapons but sometimes it doesnt feel like a puzzle/memory game with how many attack patterns there is. i think the best boss in the game was the big tentacle monster
