As a Ravens fan, this is the most heartbreaking loss in Ravens history. It’s not as bad since we won the super bowl the next year, but in a vacuum, this is the most heartbreaking game. If we win this game, I am confident we beat the Giants. Assuming we have the same team as we did in 2012, we may become the most unexpected repeat super bowl winner in NFL history.
You were basically a clone of the Giants in the following year. Hosted the wild card game where you score 24 points in a blowout win? Check. Pulled off a bunch of upsets on the road? Check. Beat the 49ers in heartbreaking fashion? Check. Fairly close Super Bowl? Check. Nobody thought you would emerge as the Super Bowl champion going into the playoffs.
@Steve-me9dd I disagree, the Saints in the NFC had a decent shot considering they Completely STOMPED the GIANTS earlier season by 25 points, 49ers beat the G-Men by 7 points in that same regular season. So given a choice of which team to face in the playoffs?? Not Hard, Not Hard at all.
@Steve-me9dd This is my opinion, but I say Cold Weather was a HUGE Factor in that game, even for Green Bay. The Extreme Cold clearly affected the play of the game. Which in my opinion, bit Green Bay in the ass that day. Since neither team could play as effective as they would in warmer temperatures It came down to what team made the least mistakes. If the weather was better in Green Bay that day, it may've been a different result. Again, this is an opinion. Also, why wouldn't the Saints deserve a shot at the Superbowl, they had the #1 Offense in the NFL that year?? Lastly, even though Green Bay was the NFC Championship in the 2007 Season. Beating the Cowboys at Dallas in the Divisional Round was so much better. Only SB 42 Beating the 18-0 Pats was better than the Dallas Game.
The ravens from 2008-12 were awesome. Such a scary team. As a giants fan I was so relieved to get to play the Patriots. Imagine being relieved to play Brady lol.
I don't understand why we rushed the field goal we had a timeout left I don't like John Harbaugh as a head coach still to this day Lamar saved his job he should have been fired years ago.
@@mikesgotniceice Evans mysteriously turned upfield even though he was in the end zone. In that situation, most receivers usually just fall on their backside after securing the ball. I'm guessing either Evans thought he was just outside the endzone and was trying to get (unnecessary) extra yardage, or he was so excited he turned around to celebrate and forgot to secure the ball, giving Moore a chance to punch it out. Give Moore credit for making the play, but Evans has to take a lot of the blame for not finishing the TD pass.
I always felt like he basically had possession, had is 2nd foot been completely down it would've been a TD, the ball was knocked out like a split second before his heel went down.
That's the night Billy cundiff lost his job and got ran outta Baltimore. But nobody else even picked him up after that terrible kick. And I remember he was pretty good too but he is famous for missing that kick. Ruint his whole career.
@@devinjerryfreedomisfree4599 People always talk about Billy Cundiff, but if Lee Evans catches that ball in the endzone at 10:46 and it's game over for the Pats.
He came to the browns in 2014 and lost us a few games as well blows my mind we picked him up we went 7-9 couldve won at least 10 games with a solid kicker.
Patriots fan here. That Ravens team was imo even better than the '12 ravens that ended up winning the super bowl. What a terrifying lb core and secondary. Both 49'ers and ravens got screwed on special teams but at least they got their rematch a year later. Also this was probably the worst patriots team of the whole belichick era.
The 09 Patriots with Brady returning from the ACL tear are definitely the worst team of the Belicheck era, which is saying something because they still went 10-6 with a +142 point differential
@@nrmproductions1150 i think talent wise, the 2013 patriots were worse. gronk was injured and all brady had was edleman. he was throwing to matthew mulligan, josh boyce, aaron dobson, and kenbrelle Thompkins. on the defensive side they were average at best. they couldnt stop the run and the secondary outside of the safeties was not good.
@@nrmproductions1150 the 2014 team in my silly opinion is the best one of all. 2007 is the best patriots offense ever but if we're talking all 3 phases of the game, i'll take 2014.
@@dopeascopebrother60 I think the 2004 or the 2016 Pats are the best. May be biased because my Hawks were one stupid throw away from beating that 2014 team
@@nrmproductions1150 true but that jermaine kearse catch that got them down in the redzone was pure luck. but thats also another reason i picked the 2014 team was because they had the toughest superbowl oppenent to beat. they may have lost but that 2014 seahawks team is easily one of the greatest of all time. hall of famers all over the place offensively, defensively, coaching, etc.
@@greatestnitemare6626 and we would have won that year too. Don't act like you wouldn't still be salty about a playoff loss like this regardless if your team won next year, or not.
@@greatestnitemare6626 nah. We would have beat the Giants that year too. Don't think for one second that Super Bowl goes the same way if the Patriots aren't their opponent.
I will never forgive Lee Evans for dropping that TD and TJ Housmanzada for dropping that crucial fourth down pass also real Ravens fans know what I’m talking about
Born an raised in Baltimore this is the first football game i ever watched i was 16 at the time @8:37 When brady scored thats when i fell in love with the game i love my ravens lamar jackson here now but this 2012 team will always have a place in my heart
I was gonna be 23 in the March after that season ended. I vividly remember when we won our 1st SB in 2000/01. I was 12yrs old and it was such a crazy feeling! 2012/13 was great as well, but man.. this loss hurt the most out of any loss I've seen in 26yrs. 2019 against Tennessee hurt and 2014 Division game against New England was tough as well. Hopefully we get #3 this season 😈😈
I've been a Ravens fan since 97 and got to see our 1st SB win. I coulda swore we were going to our 2nd but Lee Evans dropped that TD and then Cuntiff missed that kick.. I was so sick! But little did I know.. we'd be right back in Foxboro the following year. And finished the job that time! Here's to hoping The Flock wins their 3rd SB this season 😈😈
A lot of people say this game was costed by the Billy Cundiff field goal, but honestly Flacco didn't look like himself. He couldn't even get a first down on his first 3 possessions and was overthrowing a lot of wide open guys, especially Torrey Smith, and he was getting mad handeled by that pats D-Line.
That was not a drop. That was a spectacular defensive play by Sterling Moore a back up defensive back using the technique that Belichick taught them to keep your back to the quarterback and swipe at the receivers arms when they go for the ball.
You don’t know a missed field goal until you’ve seen Chase McLaughlin’s against the Seahawks in the game that ended the 49ers undefeated streak in 2019
What's really wild is how serious both Bill and Tom Brady took with the Ravens. The other day, I was watching Patriots vs Seahawks, the Superbowl match. Bill was yelling at his defensive players and saying "this is just like Baltimore. We gotta do our jobs. There are no tricks. Just execute your job and we'll win." Made me realize how deadly the Ravens were.
I know we didn't end up winning the Super Bowl, but this is still one of the all time great games in Patriots history. Brady's TD leap on 4th down to take the lead was one for the ages, and i loved seeing Drew Bledsoe honored before the game on the 10th anniversary of the 1st title. And what can you say about Sterling Moore? Just an incredible night in Foxboro.
To all the casuals who think Brady is carried by his defenses. Please watch this entire 2011 season and you will realize this is probably one of the worst defenses of all time. Julian Edelman and Matthew slater were literally playing safety and DB😭
As a Ravens fan who was at this game it still hurts thinking about it, all the Patriot fans shit talking us on the way out of the stadium was just salt in the wound. Thank god Eli beat them and thank god we won the Superbowl the next year, my pain was worth it in the end lol.
Absolutely sickening, but thankfully the impetus the Ravens needed to draft the GOAT kicker the next season. Everyone remembers the Cundiff miss at the end, but how about the 4th-and-6 that the Ravens went for late in the fourth? If they had Tucker, they can confidently kick the game-tying field goal right there. I remember as soon as Flacco released the pass to Evans saying it was going to be a touchdown, which of course it should have been. And, also, lol at 9:58.
This game made me sick to my stomach the officials called some bullshit penalties fucking Lee Evans dropped the go-ahead touchdown to win the game John Harbaugh rushed everybody to the line instead of calling a timeout fucking Billy Cundiff missed the goddamn kick.
10:58 Still to this day, how was that not a touchdown? Why it wasn't even reviewed is beyond me. Lee Evans had possession and two feet moving in the time required to constitute a catch. If it was any other part of the field, then it would've been a fumble and a likely Patriots' recovery. But since this occurred in the end zone, that's a touchdown. Ravens got screwed on this day.
