First and only home 49ers game I've ever been to was this game. I was torn between going to this game, or waiting until the NFC championship, but the championship game wasn't guaranteed since the Saints were really tough so i decided to go to this game. Best 49ers game i've ever seen, and arguably one of the greatest games in NFL history. I think I chose correctly!
I would say you chose WISELY as well considering the outcome NFC Championship that year. Definitely more enjoyable this Divisional Game for 49ers Fans.
Which 49ers-Saints game was better - this 2011 Div Playoff with the Smith-to-Davis The Catch III, or the 2019 Wk14 shootout for post-season home field advantage with both teams at 10-2, with JimmyG outgunning Drew Brees and with Kittle's TRex vs. 3 Velociraptors play (best game of the 2019 season)? Regardless of your pick, the 49ers and the Saints have had some truly classic NFL games.
@@rhmayer1 I think I gotta go with the playoff game since so much was on the line. But that 2019 game was one of the best regular season games i've ever watched!
the 2011 49ers were always be special to me....before that year the 49ers were not just bad bt really awful...they set records for worst numbers on offense and Defense...so it was great to see 49ers al of sudden become a great team....if only Ted Ginn Jr didnt get hurt in this game..he would have been the returner in the NFCC against the Giants...and not fumble the ball on those certain plays...this 2011 and the 2019 49ers are my favorite.
One of the greatest games I watched. I still remember the Saints fans at the bar talking mad $hit after that TD to Graham. Loved their looks of dismay after we scored last!💪🏻
As a Niner fan, the one from last year was epic with Jimmy G having a shooting out with Brees and Kittle getting that crazy first down to seal the game. However, this comeback during the playoffs was epic because of the gravity of the game, you lose you go home you win you advance to the next step to get to the Super Bowl.
How old are you? You sound a bit young for Montana. Did you see the Catch 2? I swear I'm not dogging you, I loved this game too. I'm a leftie, and loved watching Steve Young play. I was glad to watch Alex play too. Unfortunately I'm too young to have watched Montana play. I did watch the first Catch game though on ESPN Classic.
This was the Saints “Head Hunting “ era. Dangerous front seven. But Alex shined under Harbaugh. He is truly better than he ever gets credit, or support (for that matter). Truly a great 9er.
@@is8807 it doesn't have to be a helmet collision to be exciting. Take that hit on DK Metcalf yesterday for example. I loved that I get what you mean 100% though
@@yenice3652 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--6QFiDkHfJs.html Calling Helmet to helmet is understandable in some situations but the softening of the rules has led to shit like this being called
I distinctly remember feeling like I'd aged 30 years watching the last 5 minutes of this game live. What an insane rush coming out on top of a game like that. All time classic moment for a franchise full of all time classic moments.
Some poor woman brought her child to sit in front of me at stadium. That kid heard every swear word I know and watched me almost puke on him on that Graham touchdown.
i remember that throw by Alex Smith the catch 3 i was in 29 palms for pre deployment training it was the one day we were lucky enough to come back in time to listen to this game. I was literally sitting on a dryer while my camies were drying listening to this game on the phone. Was honestly the best moment i had there hahahaa
Man, Im 31 years old. Watched the 49ers during their down seasons when I was younger, and when I witnessed this game, it was super magical and exhilarating. I will never forget this game. Good ass playoff game!!!
This is the game I think about when I think of Alex Smiths career. 49ers pulled the plug on him too soon. Would’ve been a different story with him starting Super Bowl 47.
Anybody who doesn't think special teams are super important, watch this and then watch the Niners have 2 muffed punts at the end of the game next week vs. the Giants. Season changed from contenders to a disappointment on just those 2 muffed punts.
@@JahNuhThunDeeTheOneAndOnly looking at this game the niners wouldn't have even made it passed the saints if they didn't muff and fumble it multiple times
@@JahNuhThunDeeTheOneAndOnly All because holding on Crabtree wasn’t called All because Bowman’s stripping the ball wasn’t called All because Bosa was held and it wasn’t called All because Jimmy G was hurt All because Tartt dropped the interception All because Trey Lance was hurt All because Brock Purdy was hurt True champions find ways to win in spite of things like that.
I was so losses when Graham that last td . I thought we was done after that. Even tho we only needed a fg. Hoping for fg to atleast get to over time but the nimers said screw that we going to win this and we had a epic drive and to end it with that post to davis was awesome.. I was in my car driving home from work. And when we scored that td I was jumping up and down in my car. Shouting yea!!!!yea!!! yea !!!!!! Il never forget that moment. And what makes it even more great is that I'm from Louisiana and live in Mississippi. Whole family is saints fans.
My family was in Disneyland on that day, we came back to the hotel to watch the game, so we ended up wasting the tickets. I couldn't bear to watch anymore, and I went out on the balcony. But I could tell who's doing well by the loud cheers from all the surrounding hotels.
Crazy to think, if this EXACT game played in today's NFL, Saints win. That helmet to helmet hit by Whitner gives the Saints the ball at the 1 yard line and a first and goal. They likely score a TD, 39-36 final.
Jim Harbaugh to V.D: "you did it. You f*cking did it son" great run with coach Jim Harbaugh i just wish he came out with a super bowl victory. It's up to you now Coach Kyle. Lets go NINERS 💪
It became a hidden rule for opposing teams at Candlestick, don't let the 49ers get to 3rd and 3 with game on the line.... all 3 of "The Catch" came on 3rd and 3.
Might be the best defense we have ever had and I took it for granted! Everyone on the defense was punishing someone! Rushing 3 and still being able to get pressure is insane! Justin Smith just drove that dude into Brees what a fucking animal 😂
@@downs3627 no he didn't. Delanie Walker was open on 3rd down and randy moss was open on second down in the endzone in the superbowl during the last series.
It’s amazing the fact that the Saints had a chance to win the game after giving the ball away to the 49ers 5 times. That game should have been out of sight by the 3rd Quarter.
I believe this is the second best postseason win by our 49ers, after 2002 win against NY Giants. My favorite players of the game were Alex Smith & Vernon Davis. In this game Vernon Davis was as good as Terrell Owens in 2002 game against Giants. I’m really glad that he got retired with a ring unlike Owens and Smith.
alex smith played an incredible game. 3td passes and 1 rushing td. I think had they stuck with him they win the superbowl against the ravens. kap was better but in that bowl he over and under threw alot of wide open guys.
It’s niner team was the most physical football team I might’ve seen in the modern nfl. Only rosters close are the same era seahawks and the ravens from a few years earlier
And that Niner defense was one of the best recent defenses I witnessed. I'm a Steeler fan BTW but that 2011 Niner defense was a machine. Didn't they go like the entire 2011 season without allowing a rushing TD? Maybe they allowed 1 or 2 the entire year but they were dominant.
