Bernadeth Manalili No. She is using his psychology against him. It was no mistake that had chosen an intelligent female polygrapher to interview him. She is stroking his ego, and lulling him into a false sense of security.

If you have watched all of their interviews, both detectives use this technique. They don’t really do the “bad cop” thing at all, because he wouldn’t respond to that. They even go as far as suggesting that Shanann did it, and he was just “cleaning up the mess.” They know by now that he exhibits narcissistic traits, and it would be difficult to get him to take full responsibility. They are actually very intuitive interrogators.

He is just chatting away like he's catching up with friends at the start. I can't believe he agreed to polygraph, knowing he freaking DID IT!!! He was so arrogant he thought he could beat the test! I wonder if true psychopaths can pass polygraphs because their emotions aren't really there, like they pretend to have emotions and feelings about people?
@atheistium
@atheistium 5 лет назад
Polygraphs detect how nervous you are. Most normal people get nervous when they lie and their heart rate goes up. Psychopaths actually pass polygraphs often because they have no remorse for their actions and have no morality issues with lying - they also don't worry to much about what people think of them. Most people who aren't psychopaths and commit acts have worries about recourse and what people will think of them.
@Michelle-rv9ks
@Michelle-rv9ks 5 лет назад
chuck young Maybe. If they can increase their heart rate during the control-lie questions, then decrease it when they are actually lying. From what I understand polygraph tests measure dozens of reactions, so it seems unlikely anyone could fake-pass

@cdy9019
@cdy9019 5 лет назад
@Keepadagroov I know that a person cannot be arrested just for failing a polygraph. Failing isn't against the law, but if you fail the police zero in on you. For example how they were so friendly with Chris until after the failed results. After he failed they really started grilling him, and repeating to him he failed and needed to fess up to exactly what happened. They use it to sort of rule a person out in the beginning when they maybe don't have a ton of evidence or leads.

I just can’t get my head around any of what happened behind the closed doors (and camera) with this family. It’s like nobody could even make it up. It’s that shocking and warped!! Gotta say I’ve truly been fixed to keeping up with all updates and uploads that I’ve came across with regards to this case, yet it still won’t sink in that something like this can and does happen. and all while most of us, by God’s grace are safe, and if in the UK like me, fast asleep. This guy has really opened my eyes, and mind to see that even when you think you know someone inside out, you might actually know nothing at all. Definitely the things of horror films, with this one going way too far. 🙈🙈🤬😢 I pray that mum, bump and both beautiful girls are right now resting in everlasting peace. - Donna

I think it is so important if someone is nice to everyone but someone maybe speaks up and say like if Shannan had been abused it seems like nobody would have believed her everyone said he was a good guy I mean her friends let them sleep in their house across from their 5 year old after killing his family just because someone appears ot be nice does not mean they are not capable of doing something bad. The red signs appear when she went to NC if u see her texts to her friends in the 2,000 page docs.

@@ed4046 The problem is that most of us often times ignore red flags for different reasons. Shannan didn't even take the big red flag seriously. The doll picture. Because the man she thought she knew would never have been able to do what he did. The man she thought she knew would never hurt a fly.

@@sussh9635 That doll picture was beyond the pale for me. He sends her a picture of a dead doll (that was implied) and she just reposts it and says that she doesn't know what to make of it. I mean, what did he think he was accomplishing by taking and send that photo? I'd think he wouldn't want to hint to her that he wanted her dead, or whatever he meant by it. This is a case that gets more and more bizarre even now that it's over.

@@yelloworangered I wonder what was said in their last conversation before he sent that picture to her. Maybe that picture was him saying, We better do it my way or else! Just a wild guess. It was clear from the very beginning that he was guilty. Just a correction to anyone starting this. He did not confess at first. First, he blames his wife for the crime and tries to play the hero. Pathetic worm that he is.

What an evil being - You had a lovely family and a beautiful home. Walk away if you felt the relationship has come to an end. But to kill them and still be breathing is NO JUSTICE.

What I cannot understand about him is why did he have to kill his family and all he had to do was simply get a divorce. He didn’t have to take their lives by all means(so uneccessary)! What you do in the dark will come to light! It make take some times perhaps even years but karma never losses an address even if you don’t get caught the deceased will forever haunt you! Can I get an AMEN!!!!!!!! Losing a loved one is never easy especially in this nature which is homicide. You often think about how they knew they were going to die at the hands of a person that was suppose to protect them from harm instead of causing it. 😢

He's not a high functioning sociopath...he's just a bad liar. Clearly he showed emotions (rage) the night he killed his wife. While sociopaths may not feel, or even understand emotions about others, they still possess self preservation. So now it boils down to whether they are confident enough in their story, to not get caught. That confidence or lack thereof will trigger a lie detector.

Everyone needs friends like Shannan. When they realized she was missing they immediately took action. He obviously didn’t realize how much she was loved. In his sick mind he didn’t love her, so no one else did. He thought he’d have an infinite amount of time to execute his evil plan. In his mind he would dispose of the bodies, before anyone realized they were missing. He should kill him self next. That gf wanted the life he’d given Shannan and the girls. Little did she know he was a sick demented bastard.

Dope Chick Totally. They weren’t buying his lies at all. I loved Cassie’s text responses back to him. “No one cares about you, or your relationship. Get your shot together, and go home and check on your family” pretty much. He is so narcissistic. It’s repulsive.

It's astonishing the amount of people who take a polygraph test knowing there're guilty, and without an attorney or legal representation. Did Chris (and many others) actually think that being deceptive on a polygraph test, would "look better" than refusing a polygraph test? Don't get me wrong, I'm glad he took the test, but why?
