Our friend Ryan (co-owner/founder of Shift Sector) wanted to build a loud, raw, mean '65 Ford Mustang so he turned to our friend Nicko at Vintage Motorworks and what he ended up with is simply badass! Old school, loud and raunchy so sit back and enjoy the ride..

My mentality fluctuates based on what sort of condition the starter car was in. If everything is still in great condition, and it's all original, yeah don't mess with it too much. But if the car you're starting with is a rusted out husk that hardly resembles a car anymore, go nuts. Anything you would do to it at that point would improve it. Plan on buying a 60s continental eventual and restoring it with batteries and electric motors. Would perfectly suit the character of the car and make it fast as hell.

This is a car you could see placed in a F&F movie. I wouldn't be so quick to hate on it. They have a wide variety of stuff all throughout their films. But either way, beautiful beautiful car

I had a 66 Hertz Shelby with the original top loader and hipo 289 with the original Cobra intake and Ford four barrel. Unfortunately I had to sell it in 1994 for only 12,000 due to my Wife getting pregnant with my first Daughter, It was all re-done with black paint and gold stripes( spent over 12,000). I loved that car like you cant believe. My Daughters that are now in their mid 20's said they would look for it and buy it for me, but I told them (one)they would not be able to find it(two) if they do find it the owner will not sell(three) he will want a lot for it. They said they don't care and Till this day they are looking for it...This car reminds me of my little 66 Shelby Hertz what an awesome built.

My heart goes out to you brother. I sold my first car, 64.5 coupe, when my son was born. I finally got an 05 gt when I turned 50, great wife pushed for it. I’m better now, midlife crisis… not even a consideration 😇

I just bought a 65 with the 200 i6 and 3 speed manual .. Needs work, but is drivable, after I get the brakes done this week.

So I hear a lot from people that these cars need to have the torque boxes added to them for rigidity. But I didn't see any on thjs bad ass ride I'd like to avoid the need for them any comments on them?

It has a carburetor? I love the car, I love the Windsor 460. BTW, Popular Hot Rodding built a 454 CI Windsor years ago when Ford came out with the al ZZ351 block. It made 730 hp. So, I know it was be easy to get more ponies out of that engine. I also understand he wants to have reliability. That is why I was surprised it was not injected.

I had a 1966 GT350 HERTZ Replica with a 289 High Performance Motor. BIG MISTAKE. I LEFT THE DRUM BRAKES ON all 4 and drove it into a concrete Divider going 40mph. I should have got 4 disk brakes from the get go. Drive safe.

Can you let ryan know that an air filter with side draft intake only, is actually is better than a filter with side draft intake and top down intake as the two air paths fight and contradict each other at low to midrange rpm, and throttle response and air/fuel atomization is better with the side draft only air filter....

A 3/4" taller tire on the rear would keep him out of the rev limiter as quick in the lower gears, and add circumference for traction and comfort. The width part is obvious, but he can detail his final gearing with tire height and benefit greatly, and more cost effective, than messing with gears.

Cool stang but got to loose the rear trunk pin and add power brakes. I had a 69 stang with manual brakes and from 100 mph down took a lot of effort and feet. Not safe

Your brakes where probably not set up right as my 66 with manual brakes disk fronts and drum rears can go from 100-0 real quick and without much effort

Awesome build! It's as I say the right amount of F U while still being within it original means. Yeah its not a real GT350R like who would daily or rip a real OG car that's part of history, instead you build yours the way you want it, tweak it and make it better. I'm about 200 miles into the shake down on the 2/3 drop on my truck, it's never perfect from the jump, especially when you mix and match (a la carte) the parts.

Sean - help me out. I am building a 65 fastback. I have been tormented by Dave’s GT350 with the 363 as it screams. Now however you have covered a 427, which I love as I previously wanted a cobra. What’s your engine for the fastback and why?
