@@JacksonSheppard-mq9gg just saying this isn’t a player that will likely produce in the bottom six. He needs Ice time and quality line mates to score. And to be a good grinder he needs 4 more inches of height lol.
I genuinely hope he gets topline Bakersfield minutes, he came from the WHL last year, and having 6-7 minutes a game in a bottom 6 role is not enough for development. I am all for him getting 21-22 minutes a night in bakersfield, coming up next year for a 3rd line slot beside henrique
Welcome to Oil Country, Matt! Can’t wait to see you grinding for one of top 6 spots sooner than later! LFG Oilers! Gearing 🆙! Super Stacked for next season for sure.
Sabres fan here, we're happy on our end too. He's one of 6 high end prospects we have with similar characteristics. McCleod is a different type of player and one that we need. Seems to be a win-win as long as Savoie can stay healthy for you guys. He's had some injury troubles and got jumped for a roster spot by his younger former linemate
@@ML-my8qq you guys don’t need speed. Sabres do… BADLY. We also need a forward who is better defensively. Sabres scored a ton 2 seasons ago but were still on the outside looking in because they simply didn’t have anyone to limit the other teams scoring. Last season it was that we simply didn’t know how to not lose and by that I’m talking getting to overtime or holding off a surging team. He really helps us in that regard. Sabres definitely overpaid but it was a nothing pick that we obtained while still drafting the guy they wanted
Scouting Report: Seems like a great kid, good speaker and by all accounts has a ton of talent. Speedy, feisty player with tons of talent often compared to Brayden Point. He had 71 points in 34 games last year in the WHL winning the WHL championship with Moose Jaw. 9th overall pick in 2022. 3 years remaing on ELC and then RFA after. Wasnt old enough to play in the AHL full time, but played 6 games last year where he had 5 points in 6 games. “Savoie is like a gnat in the offensive zone. He’s always buzzing around, and no matter how many times you swat at him, he won’t go away. You can’t stop Savoie from making plays in the offensive zone; you can only hope to contain him. He’ll pester you on the forecheck, create turnovers, attack the puck, and constantly keep his feet moving. “Part of what makes Savoie so much fun to watch is that it seems as if he’s never content with standing around. He has to move around and keep changing the angles and lanes for the defense, slowly wearing them down until they make a mistake, and he can strike.” Best of luck to Matt and welcome to Oil country! In
Sabres fan here. Happy for this talented kid, wish him the best of luck in his career in Edmonton. McLeod will definitely help our depth...his speed and tenacity stood out in the Oilers games I watched.
Great to put something in the Stables! Too many picks Traded the past few years to try and win now. In the next couple years we're going to need young guys to start stepping in.
Good grief man.. These media guys need to let the kid actually answer their freaking questions before popping another one on him.. I think I counted like 9 or 10 times they cut off the tail of his answer to ask him another question... Just pure class from Edmonton sports media....
Always liked Jim Matheson until Leon pissy interveiw. Since then l think he has forgotten how to shut up and listen after a question. Getting old and grumpy maybe lol
I hate that guy he is an old set in his way guy that gets mad when he dosnt get what he wants. Remember the Leon interview the guy don’t care about any of these players he just cares about getting sound bites for his blog. That’s why Leon was mad at him because he took what Leon said previous to that interview and twisted the narrative. I hate Matheson and have no clue why he’s still here.
@@Dr.Acula76 yeah I didn’t mean ice time as in game time with Davo just meant I hope he gets lots of ice time, AND gets to practice in the off-season/ pre season games/practice a lot with McDavid
Sad to see Matt get traded. We got something we needed back and frankly.. we have so many players like Matt trying to crack the lineup.. Bensen did, but we still have Helenius, Kulich, Ostland, Rosen and Wahlburg all trying to crack the lineup and we can't play them all.. we need the role players too and McLeod fits that.. Good luck Matt, hope to see you in the NHL soon..
i get Stuart Skinner Vibes from this Talent he is 20 yrs old and Gonna be a Machine in EDM Guranteed He Out Works Derek Ryan For Roster Spot good 4th Liner to get something Goin Cloud didnt Sync Properly and Im Glad we Got a 1st RD Top9 Pick for a 2-3Rd Round Talents Out door
Buffalo fan here. I wish Matt much success (except against the Sabres). I followed him in Prospect camp and I was there when he hurt his shoulder last year. I'm not convinced he isn't injury prone but in any event I'm hearing from Edmonton fans that we got the short end of the stick. However, Mcleod adds something to the Sabres with his PK and defensive play as well as his speed.
You got a decent player, just paid way too much for him. Just don't expect McLeod to play any sort of physical game....at all. He's not a line driver either. Great speed, sound positional on D, good PKer.
@@scout8424 I think the kid is going to be player! I love to hate Oilers but in all honesty you guys have been through alot! (Chirelli). Good to see Canadian markets thriving.
Even if savoie becomes a McLeod type player.(he very well be better) Good cap management by having a guy making league min for 3 yrs other than pay 2 million for a yr.
@hardcaliber19 yamo was 150lbs.. his guy is 175lbs and 5'9 which is 2 inches taller than yamo so that dude for sure doesn't know what he's talking about
@@ceeque401listed at 179lbs but who knows. He's 20, guys usually start putting on some muscle then. Caulfield is 5'7 St.louis was 5'8 180lbs he skates better than Yamo. I think he'll be fine. Derek Ryan is only 1 inch and 6lbs heavier. Same with Arvidsson and both have played a long time in the NHL.
