The funny thing about asleep at the wheel is they are a band of no time when I heard them in the 90s I assumed they were just a new band because they sounded like they were from the 50s. These interviews with Ray are priceless

In the late 80's I was in training with Wink Tyler at ARS. After completing Wink's courses he sent me to Arlan Studio to see if Stewart might have some work for me. While I waited to speak with him I felt someone come up behind me and as I turned slightly to see who it was I found that I had look up and up and to my surprise it was Ray. Have never forgotten that day. I've been a long time fan of Asleep At The Wheel. Thanks for all the great music Ray. Keep on truckin'. 🎸🎶

The first time I saw (or even heard of) the Wheel was in Bismarck, ND on the Spring 2000 tour with Bob Dylan that Ray talks about at the beginning. Asleep at the Wheel blew me away. What a tight band.

Hell Yes, extremely excited to watch this LEGEND, I know he’s not dead. Listen how crisp his mind is, I know he’s got years of stories of back stage, back street, and after hour shit. Enough, I need to shut up and LISTEN ! ! !

What a treat to hear Roy talk about the good ol' days. Saw Asleep and Commander Cody in the early 70' at the fairgrounds in Eugene, Oregon. Been a fan ever since. Might have rocked with Asleep at the Wheel more times than any other band in the last 50 years. Thanks a bunch!

Have loved every version of Asleep at the Wheel since I first heard tracks on KFAT-FM in Gilroy, California back in the 70s. When I heard "ain't nobody here but us chickens" I was hooked for life. Ray Benson is a national treasure.

Great stuff. ... Thanks fellas. Also, for whatever it's worth, that Jimmy Vaughn guest spot show went very well. ... Is considered amongst fans as one of Dylan's best modern shows .... Highly recommend tracking it on down & giving it a listen - Search YT with, Bob Dylan April 6, 2024, & it'll appear. Thanks again & best wishes out there

This guy has recorded a commentary on Truefire which I believe is titled "Practice What You Don't Know" which is just as insightful as this interview. He always rides at least one rail that is philosophical and the other rail is purely practical. That to me is the true essence of Country Music.
