Ray was the reason I (erroneously) concluded I probably wasn’t saved. I was so thankful to find the work of GES. I searched the scriptures for myself now simply take Jesus at His word. He promises that the one who believes in Him for salvation HAS that salvation. Thank you, Jesus 🙏

Exactly Gary . I spoke with Ray about 20-25 years ago . It was clear that his whole "gospel " was to inculcate doubt of one's Everlasting destination , based purely on one's behavioral performance (works) . John 3:16 & Ephesians 2:8-9 - and all equivalent passages - remain the Twin Towers that refute every such attempts to "come in some other way " than simple faith in the Christ (Jesus) for His doubtless Gift of Everlasting Life .

@@2Chronicles714_ the word repentance or repent is never used at all in the gospel of John. Also, continual belief in Jesus is never a requirement in scripture for the gift of eternal life. The moment a person believes in Jesus for eternal life, they have eternal life at that moment.

@grizz4489 Is there a reason who chose John's gospel to prove repentance isn't necessary? The reason repentance isn't directly spoken about by John is because John's message was written for the already repented church in Ephesus well after Matthew Mark and Luke. It's heresy to try to pit John's gospel against Matthew Mark and Luke. In John's gospel the word believe is always in the present continuous tense, which doesn't mean just believe once, it means go on believing. Everywhere in John's gospel the emphasis is going on believing. For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son that whosoever goes on believing- (present continuous tense)- NOT WHOEVER BELIEVED AT SOME POINT. Whoever is believing. It means to go on doing something, all the way through John's gospel it means go on believing that Jesus is the son of God, going on believing, you may go on having life. That whosoever goes on believing will never perish but go on having eternal life. Ask any expert in Greek, and they will say that's what the original text says. In other words, John's gospel was not written to convert people but to encourage believers to continue believing. That's why John doesn't deal with repentance or water baptism because he assumes the readers are already repented and been baptized. The fact that John doesn't mention repentance doesn't mean its not necessary. He's saying go on believing because in Ephesus, where John lived when he wrote it there was a heretic called Cerinthus that was teaching bad things about Jesus and that bad teaching was getting into the church. So John wrote his gospel for believers to encourage them go on believing in Jesus as the son of God. Believing that Jesus is the son of God, going on believing that you may go on having life. Yes we must continue believing and obeying God until the end to recieve the promise of everlasting life with Jesus. John 8:34-36 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. 35 And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever. 36IF the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. John is clearing saying if you are a servant of sin which of course would include to stop believing you will not abide in God's house.

So why did Jesus say the following ? Matthew 9:13 and learn what this [Scripture] means: ‘I DESIRE COMPASSION [for those in distress], AND NOT [animal] SACRIFICE,’ for I did not come to call [to repentance] the [self-proclaimed] righteous [who see no need to change], but sinners [those who recognize the sin and actively seek forgiveness].” Mark 2:17 When Jesus heard this, He said to them, “Those who are healthy have no need of a physician, but [only] those who are sick; I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners [who recognize their sin and humbly seek forgiveness] Luke 15:7 I tell you, in the same will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people who have no need of repentance. Luke5:32 I did not come to call the [self-proclaimed] righteous [who see no need to repent], but sinners to repentance [to change their old way of thinking, to turn from sin and to seek God and His righteousness].” Repentance is the consequence of faith.

Repentance has three purposes in scripture. #1 it adverts God's temporal judgment in this life for believers and nonbelievers. #2 it restores fellowship with God for the believer. #3 it can lead someone towards faith in Christ. A repentant heart is more fertile soil than an unrepentant heart. Example , if an alcoholic is repentant and gets sober, he is much more likely to place faith in Christ than if he were in a drunken stupor. With all that said, never ever in scripture is repentance a condition for eternal life. Never not once in scripture is repentance connected to the gift of eternal life. Not once.

@@2Chronicles714_How to have eternal life is a separate issue than how to live as a believer. In Gospel of John, Jesus never once tells unbelievers to repent, only believe in Him for eternal life. Here, 1 John is written to those who already have eternal life. This is about how to remain in fellowship with God. If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth; but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Jesus and Paul Acts 26:18-20 To open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’ 19 So then, King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the vision from heaven. Repenting and turning away from sin means a recognition of my sins, which involves Godly sorrow, brokenness and a commitment on my part to change the direction of my life. Repentance is not an emotion. Its more than being grieved or feeling sorry about my sin and even having remorse. God wants the person to make a decision of the heart and mind [the will] to turn away from sin. Your life was going in one direction [sin] and you make a decision by faith to take your life in the opposite direction with His help. It is making a genuine 180° change of heart recognizing that sin(s) is against God. By turning from our sins to God we acknowledge we have disobeyed God. We have violated His law, offended his moral purity, tried to cast off his yoke of authority. It requires that we admit we have turned from God to sin. That is faith. Repent means change your mind about your sinfulled life ALL SINS INCLUDING UNBELIEF, false gods, witchcraft, self righteousness etc. After repentance there must be a genuine change of life because living in sin is disobedience and rebellion against God and the end result will be destruction of the soul in hell. There must be a change in conduct and how you live. You don't have to remember every sin, Jesus knows them all. Confess ongoing sins, and ask for deliverance of them and forgiveness of all sins. Repentance turning from sin - is a prelude to holiness. Hebrews 12:14 Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy, without holiness no one will see the Lord. Walking in holiness begins with repentance. We should think about it as a lifetime daily discipline of our faith, necessary for a holy life. Matthew 6:9-14. None of us are sinless.

@@2Chronicles714_ Respectfully, my point is that the Bible doesn't say we have to repent of our sins AND believe on Jesus for salvation, it specifically says just believe, every time. Obviously our desire to repent of our sins is the fruit of salvation but you can repent of many things (not necessarily sins). That's where the definition gets misused in my opinion. Otherwise how could God have repented like he did in Gen 6, 1 Samuel 15, Psalm 106 (and other places). If repent only meant turning from sins then that would mean God sinned and we know that's not possible.

Acts 3:19 So repent [change your inner self--your old way of thinking, regret past sins] and return [to God--seek His purpose for your life], so that your sins may be wiped away [blotted out, completely erased], so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord [restoring you like a cool wind on a hot day]; Acts 20:21 solemnly [and wholeheartedly] testifying to both Jews and Greeks, urging them to turn in repentance to God and [to have] faith in our Lord Jesus Christ [for salvation]. Repent of sin and have faith. Acts 26:20 but I openly proclaimed first to those at Damascus, then at Jerusalem and throughout the region of Judea, and even to the Gentiles, that they should repent [change their inner self--their old way of thinking] and turn to God, doing deeds and living lives which are consistent with repentance. Repent of sin Believe and demonstrate your repentance by your works/lifestyle. WHAT FAITH IS This whole faith and works discussion would be over if Christians understood what faith is and looked like throughout the entire Bible. Show me anything you believe that you don't act out. If you say "lifeboats save" and then when your ship is sinking you refuse to get in it, I'm going to rightly conclude that you don't really believe what you said. When we believe, truly believe, it automatically changes how we respond. This is what Hebrews 11 is all about. Trusting God results in righteous action and by contrast unbelief leads to sin. Consider Israel leaving Egypt. God had already showed them he was powerful enough to rescue them, but they did not "have faith, trust, believe" his words. There is no earthly reason to believe that 1 million people would survive in a desert, but we know that they were never in danger and God was able to protect and care for them. But because they did not trust him (have faith), when they were in difficult circumstances (trials that test the genuineness/quality of our faith) their lack of trust (unbelief) was acted out as sin. They grumbled, complained, replaced him with idols, were arrogant, immoral, spoke evil. But if they had trusted him, they wouldn't have done those things. Understand "faith" in this way and it will change how you read the Bible. We are saved by grace through "saving faith" alone. God knows the heart and he knows if the "faith" that compels righteous action is present. Hebrews 11 states this relationship over and over "by trusting, they acted, by trusting they acted, by trusting they acted". By trusting Jesus' words, Peter walked on water... Jesus said "this is the work, to believe the One he sent". Truly it is. It is HARD to trust, really trust sometimes, but once you do, the confident action follows

I believe, i am persuaded, i am convinced that George Washington was the first president of the United States. I dont act out on that. Thats one example of a thousand. The definition of believe or faith even, is to be persuaded or convinced that something is true. I believe all kinds of things every day of my life that i dont act upon. When i as an unbeliever heard the message of life John 3:16 many years ago, i was convinced that Jesus was God's Son and that He gives eternal life to whoever believes in Him for it. As a result, i was instantly born again ! It took no doing, working or acting on my part. I believed , was persuaded that the testimony of Jesus Christ was true. That is faith. Hebrews chapter 11 is about those who were all ready born again living by faith. As believers we are to live by faith. Not to get born again but to please the Lord.

Ray wants them to be "cut to the heart" as were the people who heard Peter's sermon in Acts 2. Peter was harsh with them and told them, "God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah." Ray wants people to say, like Peter's audience, "What must we do to be saved?" It is my/our sin that sent Jesus to the cross. The more I see the incredible gap between my sin and God's holiness - the more I will be amazed at his grace...and the more I will live a repentant life.

There's no "one size fits all" form of pre Evangelism . Yet , there's only one Bullseye whereby one is born again with irrevocable Everlasting Life : simple childlike faith in the Christ (Jesus) FOR His endless Gift of Everlasting Life . Jesus never once said that repentance (turning from ...some?...most??...all ??? sins till death) gains entrance into His Kingdom . This is precisely Ray Comfort 's soteriological position . That undeniably contradicts Ephesians 2:8-9 ; Romans 3:20-5:11,11:6 ; Titus 3:5 ; Phillipians 3:9 ; & the book of Galatians . The doubtless Guarantee of Everlasting Life alone secures ues the forever Promise: John 1:12-13,3:1-18,4:10-14,5:24,6:28-47,11:23-27,20:31 ; Acts 16:31 ; 1 Timothy 1:16 .

@@HebrewGreekKnowledge Thanks Jordan . This article by Dr. Wilkin clarifies my point : " P.O. Box 1308, Denton, TX 76202 The Way of the Master July 1, 2007 by Bob Wilkin in Grace in Focus Articles There is an evangelistic method today called The Way of the Master, promoted by Ray Comfort and Kirk Cameron. Many people have asked me about this approach. Unfortunately, The Way of the Master doesn’t teach people to evangelize the way the Lord Jesus evangelized. In The Way of the Master people are taught to begin evangelism by using the ten commandments to prove to a person that they are a sinner. They are told to ask people questions like, “Have you ever told a lie?” “So what does that make you? A liar, right?” “Have you ever stolen anything?” “So what does that make you? A thief, right?” “Have you ever lusted after a woman in your heart?” “So what does that make you? An adulterer, right?” After a series of provocative questions like this, the evangelist then asks the listener, “So if you stood before God’s judgment seat, where would you go? You’d go to hell, right?” This becomes a springboard to discuss the cross. The listener is told that Jesus paid the price for our sins by dying on the cross so that if we meet His condition, He will guarantee that we are going to heaven. And what is that condition? The Way of the Master says that to go to heaven we must turn from all our sins once and for all, give our lives to Christ, and promise to obey Him for the rest of our lives.1 This approach is terrific except for one thing: it doesn’t deliver on what it promises. This approach doesn’t actually teach the way the Lord Jesus evangelized. There are two major ways in which this approach fails to reproduce the gospel Jesus preached. First, Jesus didn’t teach that the cross potentially dealt with our sin problem. Because of the shed blood of Christ, sin is no longer a barrier for anyone. The Lamb of God took away the sin of the whole world (John 1:29; 1 John 2:2). Second, the condition of spending eternity in Jesus’ kingdom and of having eternal life is not turning from sins and committing one’s life. The sole condition is faith in the Lord Jesus (John 3:16). Even if we disagree with the evangelistic approach of Comfort and Cameron, we heartily agree that we should evangelize the way our Lord did. And we know how Jesus evangelized because the apostle John gave us an entire book, the fourth Gospel, which gives the way of the Master (John 20:30-31). The emphasis the Lord Jesus gave was on Himself, not the sinner. He repeatedly called for people to believe in Him, the Son of God, in order to have everlasting life (e.g., John 3:16; 5:24; 6:35, 47; 11:25-27). Jesus often never even brought up the issue of sin when He evangelized. Look at what He told Nicodemus in John 3. He never even mentioned sin there. Even in John 4 when He spoke with the woman at the well, while Jesus pointed out one area of sin in her life, He didn’t call her to repent of it. Indeed, it is clear that the reason He pointed out that area of sin was to convince her that He was the Messiah (compare John 4:16-19, 25-26, 39). Jesus didn’t say that people must be sorry for, or turn from, their sins to be born again. The words repent and repentance aren’t even found in John’s Gospel. Nor did the Lord say that people need to commit their lives to Him to be saved. He told people that He is the one making a commitment. He commits to give everlasting life that can never be lost to all who simply believe in Him. Compare John 3:16; 4:10-14; 5:24; 6:35, 47; 11:25-27; 20:31. Because of Calvary no one will ever be condemned due to their sins. The basis of condemnation is unbelief, not sinfulness (see John 1:29; 1 John 2:2; Rev 20:11-15). It is an insult to the work of the Lord Jesus on the cross to make our sins the issue in evangelism. In light of the fact that Jesus has taken away the sin barrier by His death on the cross, all who merely believe in Him have everlasting life. That is the way of the Master. I suggest we heartily embrace the notion of evangelizing the way our Master evangelized. But we must take care to make sure that what we are saying is actually what the Lord Jesus said".

@grizz4489 Scripture proves you are incorrect. To believe one must obey. John 3:36 And anyone who believes in God’s Son has eternal life. Anyone who doesn’t obey the Son will never experience eternal life but remains under God’s angry judgment.” John 14:15 [IF] you love me, obey my commandments. 1 John 2:3-6 And we can be sure that we know him [IF] we obey his commandments. 4 [IF] someone claims, “I know God,” but doesn’t obey God’s commandments, that person is a liar and is not living in the truth. 5 But those who obey God’s word truly show how completely they love him. That is how we know we are living in him. 6 Those who say they live in God should live their lives as Jesus did. 1 John 3:22,24 And we will receive from him whatever we ask because we obey him and do the things that please him.24 Those who obey God’s commandments remain in fellowship with him, and he with them. And we know he lives in us because the Spirit he gave us lives in us. John 14:21 Those who accept my commandments and obey them are the ones who love me. And because they love me, my Father will love them. And I will love them and reveal myself to each of them.” John 3:19-21: And this is the judgment, that the light is come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the light; for their deeds were evil. For everyone who does evil hates the light, and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. But he who practices the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be manifested as having been wrought in God. 1 Peter 1:14-16 So you must live as God’s obedient children. Don’t slip back into your old ways of living to satisfy your own desires. You didn’t know any better then. 15 But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy. 16 For the Scriptures say, “You must be holy because I am holy. There are more

Without repentance there is no forgiveness of sins, Jesus said. Salvation IS through faith alone, "saving faith" alone, but saving faith acts. Trust results in righteous action. Unbelief results in sin. Show me anything you do that doesn't change how you act. To illustrate: if you say you believe that lifeboats save, but when your ship is sinking you refuse to get in one, I'm going to rightly conclude that you don't really believe it. Because faith is misunderstood, the rest of the Good News is misunderstood. Those who practice sin will not enter the Kingdom of God.

I wouldn’t be too harsh on ray for using the law to show someone why they need Christ. Actually that’s the use of the law , to bring us to Christ . Afterward , the Hs is our teacher right, from Hebrews ? But would suggest that his message is incorrect in that instead of believing for eternal life , he would say believe, trust, repent . That is what needs to be fixed. But many people need to see why they are fallen short I spoke to a coworker about her abortion recently and she said “it’s not like it was a child yet. It’s not like it was killing a person” And i had a deep honest discussion with her about it. We went through the law to show her that even not having an abortion, she like all of us, fall short . And that made it possible to show her the need to believe in Jesus , the gospel, for salvation.

Using the law is a method of evangelism, but having tailed a street preacher for a period of time, I've learned that people (1) already know all the wrong they've done and how sinful they are, and (2) they are more receptive to a message of hope (Christ). That doesn't diminish their need to recognize their sin and deal with it, though.

There have been others who have tried to tell him as well, and he disregards it. He gives the correct part of it in that he gives people the law that if they break one of the law, they broke them all, but then he ruins it by saying they must first turn from their sins. In other words stop sinning and follow Jesus whatever that means nobody gets saved by following Jesus what does that even mean to follow? Jesus imitate Jesus of course we should try to imitate Jesus in our Christlike behaviors, but we will never fully imitate Jesus because we’re not God in this life, because of our flesh is not renewed only our spirit by faith alone in Christ alone, so yeah, Ray comfort unfortunately keeps promoting a false gospel, and if he doesn’t change this, he’s really just a wolf

@erickchristopher8568 Since you are rightly dividing the truth where does it say repent means change your mind from unbelief to belief? Mark 1:15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel. Your version : And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: Repent ye of unbelief to belief and believe?

Is the test of a false conversion the lack of fruit or obedience in one's life? Is the presence of sin evidence that one is a false convert. Bob Wilkin of the Grace Evangelical Society examines the claims of Ray Comfort and Todd Friel and tells us how we can know for sure that we have everlasting life and that we are not a false convert.

Bob, do you tell people what Jesus said? You quote John 3:16 constantly, but do you ever quote John 12:25? "He who loves his life will lose it, and he who HATES his life in this world will KEEP it for ETERNAL life." When was the last time you showed this verse in any one of your videos?

@karent743 9 месяцев назад
Recently I received an email from a pastor in Switzerland who wondered what this verse means: “He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life” (John 12:25). Love and Hate Are Figures of Speech Concerning Priorities The person who “loves his life [psyche]” is one who is living for the now. He is contradicting Jesus’ command, “Don’t lay up treasure on earth” (Matt 6:19). He is failing to serve Jesus (“If anyone serves Me, him My Father will honor,” (John 12:26). The person who “hates his life [psyche]” is one who is living for the life to come. He is obeying Jesus’ command, “Lay up treasure in heaven” (Matt 6:20). He is following Jesus and serving Him and will one day be honored by God (John 12:26). Jesus is clearly not suggesting that His followers should abuse their bodies! He isn’t calling for self flagellation, self mutilation, sleep deprivation, or anything of the sort. After all, our bodies are the temples of the Holy Spirit. To abuse our bodies is sin. What He is calling for is self denial. Followers of Jesus are to deny themselves any pleasures that stand in the path of glorifying and obeying God. In context Jesus began by speaking of His own impending death. “The hour has come that the Son of Man should be glorified” (John 12:23). He then moves from talking about His death to discussing the need for all of us to die in our service for Him: “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain” (John 12:24). This call to self denial and laying down our lives for Christ is also seen in a parallel passage where the Lord explained this seeming paradox further. Only by Losing Our Lives Can We Truly Gain Them After Peter’s great confession of Jesus as the Christ, the Son of God, Jesus blessed him (Matt 16:16-17). Immediately after that, Jesus told Peter and the other disciples that He was going to Jerusalem and would soon be killed (Matt 16:21). Peter then made a great blunder. “Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, saying, ‘Far be it from You, Lord; this shall not happen to You!” (Matt 16:22). That led Jesus to set Peter and all followers of Jesus straight on the issue of suffering and self denial. But He turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.” Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life [psyche] will lose it, but whoever loses his life [psyche] for My sake will find it.” -Matthew 16:23-25 Peter and the other disciples, excluding Judas, were already born again. After all, Peter had just made the great confession of his faith in Jesus. But the disciples needed to know that Jesus’ kingdom and glory would not come immediately. Sacrifice would precede glory, both for Jesus and for those who followed Him. Saving the life and losing the life are figures of speech. In context it is clear that losing one’s life means denying oneself, taking up one’s cross, and following Jesus on the path of suffering. When Peter told Jesus that He would never go to Calvary, Peter had his mind set on worldly pleasures. When the Messiah tells you He is going to be persecuted and killed, that is what is going to happen. Saving the life is not a reference to salvation from hell. Instead, it is a reference to having fullness of life, especially in the life to come. In v 27 Jesus said, “For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works.” Even if a person could have all the wealth of this world, it would be a poor exchange if it meant he would be a pauper in the life to come. Jesus said in v 26, “For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul [psyche, the same word translated as life twice in the previous verse]? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul [psyche = life]?” The answer is obvious. It is not profitable to gain the entire world and lose your psyche, your inner life. The Pastor in Switzerland was puzzled over the reference to eternal life in a context that clearly concerns discipleship, not justification. “He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life” (John 12:25, emphasis added). The fact that the abundance of our eternal life in the life to come is directly related to how we live now should come as no surprise. Jesus spoke of this often. In John 4:35-36 Jesus said, “Lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already ripe for harvest! And he who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit for eternal life, that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together.” Note that here too we find the phrase for eternal life used in a discipleship context. The reference to wages clearly shows we are in a context dealing with rewards. Those who share their faith now (both the ones who sow the seed and those who actually lead people to faith in Christ) will have heightened joy in the life to come. In Matthew 19:29 Jesus promised the disciples that “everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother…for My name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold [now], and inherit eternal life.” Inheriting eternal life is more than having eternal life. Jesus said that eternal life is a present possession of all who simply believe in Him (e.g., John 3:16; 5:24; 6:47). This future inheritance of eternal life refers to ruling with Him in the life to come (cf. Matt 19:28) and having a full-orbed experience of eternal life. We find this same truth throughout the NT. See, for example, Matt 6:19-21; 10:32-33, 40-42; John 10:10; 1 Cor 9:24-27; Gal 5:19-21; 6:7-9; Col 1:21-23; 2 Tim 2:12; 1 John 2:28; and Revelation 2-3. Keeping Your Life for Eternal Life Is Key “If anyone serves Me, him My Father will honor” (John 12:26). Jesus here explains what He meant when he spoke of keeping one’s life for eternal life. It means the person will be honored by God. Of course with this honor will come tangible rewards like ruling with Jesus, special white garments, and a white stone which is engraved with a special term of endearment that Jesus has for you alone (see Rev 2:17, 26; 3:4-5). John 12:25 does not contradict justification by faith alone. It isn’t talking about justification. It is talking about following the Lord Jesus on the path of sacrifice through self denial and laying down one’s life. If we do that, our lives to come will be fuller than they would otherwise be. There’s his answer on his website , I’m sure you don’t go on there because you can’t make comments to confuse people on there.

@@karent743 Have no idea who you are referring to, please provide the link. Would be glad to share the truth there too and pull a few souls from the fire that might be awaiting them. The author's reasoning is sorely mistaken for the following reasons: 1. He tries to understand John 12:25 by appeal to Matt 16:26, which is legitimate. But then he interprets Matt 16:26 eisegetically by inserting the idea of "inner life" to the soul. First off, there is no "inner" in the Greek... "ψυχὴν αὐτοῦ ζημιωθῇ" ψυχὴν is the word for soul. No qualifiers attached. Then the author admits that " This future inheritance of eternal life refers to ruling with Him in the life to come (cf. Matt 19:28) AND HAVING a FULL-ORBED EXPERIENCE of ETERNAL LIFE" (emphasis mine). So which one is it? Does one keep one's life for eternal life, where eternal life means "inner" life only or where eternal life means "fully-orbed experience of eternal life"? You can't have it both ways. That's a contradiction. 2.The author refers to Matt 19:29 " And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold, AND inherit ETERNAL LIFE", Then he says: "Inheriting eternal life is more than having eternal life.." and "This future inheritance of eternal life refers to ruling with Him in the life to come". But there is NOTHING in Scripture that allows for this RESTRICTED interpretation of INHERITING eternal life as being "rewards only", which he defines as "ruling with Him". In fact, when read in context, Matt 19:29 refers to BOTH ruling AND eternal life itself: So Jesus said to them, “Assuredly I say to you, that in the regeneration, when the Son of Man sits on the throne of His glory, you who have followed Me WILL ALSO SIT on twelve thrones, JUDGING [i.e., RULING] the twelve tribes of Israel. And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold, AND INHERIT ETERNAL LIFE [i.e., not just ruling, but ALSO eternal life itself]" (Matt 19:28-29) 3. He tries to say that Gal 5:19-21 and Rev 2-3 among other passages, refer to "rewards only"/"ruling with Him" only, when in fact, the context of these chapters speaks of a blotting out of the book of life (Rev 3:5) and of being vomited OUT of Christ (Rev 3:16) and of inheriting the KINGDOM OF GOD (Gal 5:21), which can in no way shape or form be limited to "ruling" or "rewards" only. There is no life outside of Christ and outside of the book of life. To argue otherwise is a contradiction in terms... Karen, you are confused only because your paradigm has blinded you. I pray your eyes will be opened to see that yes, salvation is by grace through faith, but there will indeed be a judgment according to works, because God is BOTH Savior and LORD: "Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also REAP. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap EVERLASTING LIFE [not just rewards, but eternal life itself!]" (Gal 6:7-8). This reaping is not earned/meritorious, but rather it is God's good pleasure to give to the one who have striven by means of the energy and Spirit of God within them (Col 1:29, Matt 25:23)

Acts 20:21 I have declared to both Jews and Greeks that they MUST TURN TO GOD IN REPENTANCE AND HAVE FAITH in our Lord Jesus. ( Repent of sin and have faith [believe] ) Paul recounts his encounter with Jesus. Acts 26:18-20 To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, SO THAT THEY MAY RECEIVE FORGIVENESS OF SINS and a place among those who are SANCTIFIED BY FAITH IN ME.’ 19“So then, King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the vision from heaven. 20 First to those in Damascus, then to those in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and then to the Gentiles, I preached that they should REPENT AND TURN TO GOD (believe) and demonstrate their repentance by their deeds/works/lifestyle. Although Mark 1:15 was spoken to Jews, Jesus makes clear that true believers are to preach repentance like Comfort does. Luke 24:47 And REPENTANCE FOR THE FORGIVENESS OF SINS will be preached in His name to all nations starting in Jerusalem. The theme of the new testament from Matthew through Revelation repentance precedes Faith.

Did Jesus preach how much God the Father loves people? Absolutely not. Jesus preached that people must repent of sin. Matthew 9:13 and learn what this [Scripture] means: ‘I DESIRE COMPASSION [for those in distress], AND NOT [animal] SACRIFICE,’ for I did not come to call [to repentance] the [self-proclaimed] righteous [who see no need to change], but sinners [those who recognize the sin and actively seek forgiveness].” Mark 2:17 When Jesus heard this, He said to them, “Those who are healthy have no need of a physician, but [only] those who are sick; I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners [who recognize their sin and humbly seek forgiveness] Luke 15:7 I tell you, in the same way there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people who have no need of repentance. Luke5:32 I did not come to call the [self-proclaimed] righteous [who see no need to repent], but sinners to repentance [to change their old way of thinking, to turn from sin and to seek God and His righteousness] Self righteousness is a sin. Anyone who won't humble themselves acknowledge they are a hopeless sinner and make a decision to change their mind about their sinfulled life, asking for forgiveness is literally saying to God "I have no sin that I need to turn away from". You don't repent to a God that loves you you repent to a God who is righteous. If Jesus isn't enough to motivate you to Godly living than you don't know Jesus There is far more in scripture about looming judgment of hell for any who will not repent and live a life for Jesus. Fact there are only about 35 scriptures out of about 35000 in the Bible that speak about God's love.

I've never known anybody so likeable that I disagree with so much as Ray Comfort. Jesus came exclusively to the lost sheep of the House of Israel. The Gospel Jesus proclaimed was the Gospel of the Kingdom which included repentance of/from sins(s) and belief that Jesus was the promised Messiah of Israel. It was directed entirely to the Jews of His day. This is a different Gospel than the one revealed by Jesus to the Apostle Paul after the Damascus Road encounter. Jesus commissioned Paul to preach a Gospel of Grace alone in the finished work of Christ - a faith alone message. No works, no repentance from sin, just faith in the blood of Chirst. The content of the Gospel of Grace is found in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4. How one comes into salvation is found in Acts 16:30, 31. Paul (and Silas agreeing) told the Philippian jailer "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved..." Requiring more than that is to pervert the Gospel of Grace and this is exactly what Ray and his team do. It's the admixture of two presentations: a front-loaded message that includes repentance, contrition, and faith. It sends the wrong message in the present day. If anybody actually gets saved following Ray's message, it happens in spite of what he says, not because of it.

1 Corinthians 15:2 is undeniably in the conditional (perseverance in "holding fast") , unlike the book of John that was clearly written to Unbelievers (20:31) that one can be born again with irrevocable Everlasting Life . There's no Expiration Date attached to its contents . Unconditional Life is His Promise by simple childlike faith in Him for it : John 1:12-13,3:1-18,4:1-39,5:24,6:28-47,11:23-27 . The Kingdom was offered to National Israel, and rejected . It's future realization is unambiguously certain . The only way into His soon coming Kingdom is to be born again by belief in H8m FOR that free Gift , as Paul himself designates as the Object of saving faith: 1 Timothy 1:16 ; Acts 16:31 ; Galatians 2:16 that exactly equals John 1:12-13,3:16,4:10-14,5:24,6:47,11:23-27,20:31 .

@@timgrady4630 John's gospel was written for mature true repentant believers. This nonsense that we ignore Matthew Mark and Luke is only because our Lord spoke out on the absolute requirement for salvation Repent of sin and believe. Matthew was written for new believers while Mark and Luke are written for unbelievers. I wish Bob would do his research and he would discover that John's gospel was written 60 years after Jesus's death on the cross. Well after Matthew Mark and Luke. John makes this clear in John 20:31 But these are written so that you may continue to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing in him you will have life by the power of his name. So after 60 years people were coming to all kinds of notions, with the help of a false teacher named Cerinthus that Jesus was not fully God or that He wasn't truly man. It was getting very close to what Jehovah's witnesse's believe. John wrote his gospel to already repented believers in the church of Ephesus that Jesus was truly human when He wept at Lazarus's tomb. Also that He was fully Devine and there are 7 witnesses that He was the Son of God and 7 miricles greater than the other gospels that point to His divinity and seven statements beginning with I am which is God's name. I am the living God. 7 witnesse's 7statements 7 miricles that Jesus was and is fully God. John's gospel was written for already repented believers. How could an unbeliever understand verses like these? John 14:5-6 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. 6If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. John 14:12,16,17 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father 16And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever17Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. John 16:7-8 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. 8And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: 9Of sin, because they believe not on me; 10Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; 11Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.
