While I'd argue that _Rayman REDEMPTION_ has a leg up on the original... its version of the Mr. Stone fight removes his torso partway through. So you don't get the victory dance at 2:38.
omg thanks for this i was stuck on this boss and this helped me figure out some new manuevers. i can now beat him easiliy. im totally giving you a thumbs up.
You know, before I reached Space Mama's 2nd fight at the tail end of Picture City, I thought this guy was the hardest boss in the game; I was quite surprised to be stood corrected.
@RadioactiveG Really? I read multiple times that alot of key elements were never tested, like the spawning of cages and stuff. Maybe they just tested the animation and hit detection, but not the actual level design, or maybe what I read was bullshit.
I never got past the first level in Band Land (2nd World). If I recall, it was called Bongo Hills. I've been playing this game ever since it came out on Ps1 in 1995. And to this day, I've never completed it. It was the first ever Ps1 game I played too. One of the hardest platformers I've played.
@p433rmeyafreakin00bs I think nothing actually dies in this game. The beaten enemies don't even "poof" such as in other non/solf-violent games, they just jump out of the screen... And having some of the beaten bosses dancing with Rayman to his tune is not the only thing that doens't make any sense in this fantastic game.
The Blue Mountains and The Dream Forest were my most favourite Levels!! Loving this soundtrack!! The Blue Mountains was the most fustraiting level to play..but it was great! ~Lenne~
@RadioactiveG I've heard the same thing but this is the only reference that I can find right now: "At the time of the first Rayman, we didn’t playtest our games that much. That was a big issue, because game developers don’t know the real difficulty of their own games. They have something like hundreds of hours of flight, when a player is still learning to fly. So we end up with a quite difficult game, but we were not really aware of it." raymanorigins(dot)uk(dot)ubi(dot)com/blog/2011/11/03/
Can you send me the content of ur "dosbox.conf" file by pm plz? Because my Rayman with Dosbox doesn't play any music! It plays sounds but no music. And the CD doesn't look corrupted because I can play Rayman music on it with Media Player....
@Outside998 I'd say either what you read was bullshit, or it spoke of another lightweight version (not the PC nor the PS, at least in their final form). That description you mentioned suits state of affairs where this game is full of varied technical bugs. But actually, it's quite perfect from this aspect (and many others). Rayman's technical qualities are quite flawless.
I have rayman gold and I still use it, its THAT fun to me. I even have those rayman CD's that teach you about maths and english ^^ I still use them too!!
I remember being stuck in this stone elevator that would go down, and me being a little dumbass back then, didn't figure out you had to cut the rope with your hair. Can't remember if I ever played beyond that level.
@ theguywhoannoysme @ DxBALLxD Nice story. I hope you noticed the background (this level's graphics) and understand that according to this theory, The Blue Mountains had many presious rulers before Mr. Stone... There must have been a serious massacre, or that Mr. Stone is the proceeder of a long cruel tradition... :)
Yea, sounds in Rayman are still really good :) But I more like that sound from first part of battle with him. You know, when he charges... something like RRRROOOOOOAAAR!!!" }:D Sweet and nice ;)
@dumbasspauldentonkin Interesting, thank you. This phrasing however makes much more sense than claiming it wasn't tested at all. Being tested only by the "experts" does explain the relatively high difficulty, as well its fine qualities. :)
WTF? how come none of the bosses in this game actually die? I mean, Mr. Sax and Mr. Stone just get up and dance when you beat them, same with Space Mama. it makes no bloody sense:S
wow, thanks for the help, I knew that silly stone figure had something to do with it, and I like all the original Rayman games, 1 2 & 3. this raving rabbit nonsense has gone to far.
I doubt THIS Rayman will return because of those god forsaken rabbids taking over the Rayman franchise and turning platforming gold into cliched minigame party. I would love to see a sequel to this too! one that you actually get to kick mr dark's ass rather than his minions fused!! XD
lol i loved this boss not just because he was fun to fight, but because he makes the most pissed off growl i've ever heard XD ahh... i miss the good old rayman.. not this raving rabbids crap, but how these games in my childhood used to be. 1993 ftw! ahh... where have all the good games gone? Sure, this game was hard as f***, but it was fun, and i beat it when i was like, 8.
