Just a little bit more grip with sharp rails. you can hang ur feet off and dig them into the point of the rail. works great when the boards new, but wears away in a month or two
Coming from a broke ass college student, would it be at all ok if i were to take beer bottles and smash them us as finely as i possibly can then apply some sort of adhesive to the top of my board and sprinkle the shards on top? Im just wondering if that would work at all if anyone can help. and if so , then what kind of adhesive would be best to use? Im in dire need of some grip and this idea on mine is something i want to see through.
222Brony I guess it would work but I'd try to get something a little less sharp than glass pieces. Maybe crushed up rocks of some kind? For the adhesive, I'm thinking some clear lacquer (or some clear glue that they use for wooden floors or something) might work..?
Hey Motion Boardshop, can u guys do a Jet Koolkick 3D review? I'd love to see some formal reviews like this for the koolkick but theres only like 2. thanx.
@PierreHamel I ride 80 mm Kegels from Orange on my 42.75 degree cast ronins and I use a 1/4 inch riser in the back for grip and an 1/8 inch riser in the front. never had a problem with wheel bite
Derrick Yimsut good point, maybe it does work but yeah I love riding loose trucks and I found myself having wheelbite with 70mm wheels on my DB lunch tray so if I were riding Id feel much better with risers as well.
+akumachill as long as you watch how to do it, it's not impossible. the more you do it the better you get. it's a trial and error process. they sell longboard griptape in 12 inch squares so you can do it all slowly. plus you can use a hair dryer to soften the grip tape
Hey there! So for your shoe size and stature, you're right in between where both will be fitting and fun boards for you. If you want more a nimble freeride shredder I would go with the Darkside. If you want a little more stable deck with some more downhill potential, the Otherside would be a better choice. Good luck yo!
hey, I know this ws 5 months ago but whatever. I actually just sold my fortune and bought the darkside. The main difference id say is the concave. The fortune is really more of a dh board and it has very aggressive concave throughout. The darkside on the other hand has very aggressive concave in the middle but drops where the trucks sit so it will really lock you in for free riding. The darkside also has a fully functional kick tail which really comes in handy as opposed to the fortune which has a little spoon thing that is hard to ollie on. The fortune never ever has a problem with wheelbase because of the fat bottom, whereas funning 70 mm wheels on my darkside i have to tighten up my trucks a bit or run risers. the darkside is also way lighter than the fortune. Overall they are both great boards, but i would go for the darkside if you are going to be doing anything other than just bombing hills all day everyday because of the fortunes longer wheel base, fat bottom, and the concave locks you in more for dh. The darkside on the other hand is great for everything and excels at free riding because of the awesome pockets especially for long toesides. the kick tail makes it more fun and it was way lighter so better to take with you and for commuting etc. Also if you wanna take it downhill just put it on the longest wheelbase, and put some risers on or sand wheel wells in because running 70mm wheels can get kinda scary when going 50 mph on it. Love them both but the darkside is better for me, and is way more versatile. P.S I was running them both with PNL strummers 47* or sometimes 44 calls and a wide range of wheels. (could ride ozones, rayne envies, blood orange morgans, steam rollers, square lipped race forms, bertz, erniez, etc.) I know you probably already decided or don't care anymore someone else might see this if they are deciding which board.
