2:17 Nvidia confirmed to me that this is intentional and how the 4050/4060/4070 are designed to be. All three hit voltage limit around 100W in games, but some workloads can go higher. Even so, the fact that they can't in games and that brands keep advertising gaming models as 140W feels misleading.

I think your production quality is extra crispy lately, big props to you for the animations, graphs and the whole aesthetic in general

Even for the 4060 version Razer is selling it at $2400, where as Asus G14 selling their 4060 for $1600. The upgradeable RAM is a great new addition but seems like every year Razer is still making mistakes with their designs.

Dave needs to make a guide on how to produce short but precise and detailed videos . It's so clean and pleasing to watch! i think i have never skipped any portions of any of his videos because there's nothing annoying or unnecessary . Kudos for making such videos man.

I'm so glad you addressed the performance flatlining after feeding it a specific amount of wattage on 4050-70. With last generation people were missing out on performance because they didn't look at TGP. Now this generation when peoople have learned their lesson they'd be willing to pay extra for a gpu with higher TGP and they're basically getting ripped off. Why get a bulkier laptop with 140W 4060/70 (and pay extra for it)when you could pick up a slimmer one (that's not necessarily thin) that caps at around 105W

Razer has always priced their products pretty high but 2700 for that is just crazy.

usually i would be blaming razer for manipulating marketing with malicious intent, but I'm leaning more towards blaming nvidia for their tomfoolery with laptop gpus. They're so inconsistent and difficult to work with as a gpu provider that I'm not surprised things like this happen. I mean there's a reason evga cut off their contract and they said themselves that it's because nvidia is so hard to work with. Razer went for a different approach when designing this laptop and clearly there was an intention to get more performance with that 140W, otherwise it just doesn't do them any good.

As someone who is brief to point in my communications. I love how Dave fits so much information in 5-8 min videos.

The 4090s and 4080s have larger die size, but not necessarily larger package size. The whole 60 to 80 (90) series usually share the same package size, as to reduce complications in laptop design. But the 50 tier has a smaller package size to fit in smaller laptops. Unfortunately, Nvidia does not release package size info.

Very nice video, cooling a 14 inch slim laptop is pretty hard, the g14 does it very well but the io ports are pushed forward though. Super short and crisp videos.

I literally haven't watched a video from dave in like a couple months and I swear I was not expecting the longer hair and the few greys not bad, but it caught me completely off guard.

Jarrod tech also mentioned this about higher wattage 40 series laptops that they are performing same as lower ones.

it may be worth looking at the deciles of fps for different wattages on the same benchmark... the reason is the higher wattage may offer lower volatility in frame rates... so averaging these out may not show the full picture.

Perhaps you might review the ractual design terra ITX case...it even comes in green ?

Dave, the G14 and G15 have really bad bios and sleep issues. Could you please take a look at that? I own one, and it feels wrong each time it is recommended

I’ve been waiting for this laptop, and I am very happy to hear it finally has sodimm slots as that was what kept me from pulling the trigger on a leftover 3070ti blade 14. However it is similarly unfortunate that it’s stuck with a 4070 because of it. I’m not willing to buy a GPU with 8gb of Vram in 2023, and certainly not for 3 grand after tax. I was expecting to pay that price, but for a 4080. Gonna have reconsider my upgrade.

Awesome content! Even though I know a lot about pc tech, I've been watching your videos for years and I always use your great input.

I'm quite sure that sometime later this year or perhaps next, Razer will make an upgrade of this laptop, sticking to the same design but changing up the GPU. We've seen them do this before-like when they swapped out the Ryzen 5th gen for the 6th and tossed in a 3080Ti. I think, that over the next year or two, they won't do much with the design, but we'll see a hefty upgrade on the inside, possibly a RTX4070Ti or 4080Ti with an 8th gen Ryzen. Basically, this model is setting the stage for future laptops that will keep this design on the outside and inside but will be changing CPU and GPU die.

Critical videos make Dave a more trusted tech reviewer than others with way more subscribers.

Hey Dave when will you do a review on the latest Zephyrus G16? I am planning to purchase a new laptop, very confused between 2022 G15 (RTX 3060) and 2023 G16 (RTX 4050). The G15 has a good battery life and will also be going on sale due to being a year old. Whereas the new G16 is sharing the same body and display as the last years M16, just with a new Intel i9 and Nvidia chip and comes at the same price as the last years G15 unlike the M16 which was crazy expensive (Asus has killed the G15 and replaced it with G16). Waiting for your thoughts on the new G16. Pls do a review on it soon. 🙏🙏🙏

Hi Dave. I hope you're doing great. I'm a huge fan of yours and have seen a lot of your videos about computers. The quality of your work is quiet impressive. I'm looking for a laptop under $1100 for university and I would like to ask for your advice. I aspire to pursue my studies in software engineering. Sadly, all windows computers have plastic chassis, cheap keyboards/touch pads, short battery life, poor sound quality or overheating problems. Lenovo, Dell and HP produce great computers on paper, but there is always a deal breaker. I'm considering buying a Macbook M1 2020 with a student discount because it's the only affordable option from apple that *almost* all youtubers agreed to be the best laptop for uni students. However, the performance and the lack of many apps support are a huge concern for me. Microsoft Surface laptops seem to be great deals for lightweight work, not for mobile development for example. What do you think ? Your help would much appreciated since I have been searching for a *good* computer for over a week now with no outcome.

Non-RT workloads have a harder time pushing power limits on RTX cards (at least on desktop) since you aren't using all parts of the die. Could you remake those charts using Port Royal or Speedway? Maybe with RT that point of diminishing returns will shift more to the right.
