Hi guys in todays video I set out to Tamqua early in the morning to catch QAJT switching cars for Panther Creek & Ametek as well as deliver said cars. To my surprise when I arrived I saw they had 270 & 275 MU'ed for extra power. I believe they were put on the consist to be set out in Jim Thorpe for weekend excursions. Hope you enjoy!

Seeing the f units at work took me back to my childhood and watching freights with A-B-B-A lash ups on CN. great video.

That’s great to hear! I wish I could have been born in that era to be able to experience that! They really were innovative pieces of tech for the time with the ability to have as many B units as you would need and just have the 2 A’s at either end! Glad this railroad preserves and cares about railroad history as much as they do! Never seen any other railroad like it! Thanks for watching!

F units and the sounds of the early EMD power plants is still the best of the diesel era. Alcos are cool and the other first gen blocks have their own uniqueness to them but none compare to the early EMDs. Nice catch. Thanks for posting

Love those F's, good to see them blowing a little carbon off the valves.

Looks like that extra power let them accelerate faster and get the switching done quicker. Those are beautiful engines.

People forget that the guts of those locos are those of GP40's or 38's, can't remember which. They're basically road freight units in an F unit shell

Yup i believe 270 is equipped with PTC as well from its days doing OCS runs over norfolk southern when it was the 4270

They are GP38-2S internally.

So the whole thing should be a F38-2.

Man those screetches! It's like I'm in the MBTA Boylston Street station again and a trolley is rounding the extra tight curve! But those F units are so nice! ☺️🥰 What a shame they're hauling freight; they should be pulling dinner and autumn foliage trains for tourists!

They are going to be sitting amd doing nothing while they wait for the season to start running the F units in passenger service so why not have them make some money by hauling freight

I believe those 2 units don't have alignment couplers, as they wobble around those yard switches 😅

Those are called Cab units, some call them Covered Wagons, but to call these Streamliners is inaccurate. That was a Union Pacific trademark for their pre-war Streamliner trains.
