Thanks! Dirt Master is due to come out this Friday I believe. I may do an unboxing as it's a kit that seems to have a lot of interest. 👍 I think we get Kyosho releases early, but Tamiya on the other hand...still haven't released BHM Hotshot here. 🙄

Thank you for the kind words. 😊 I still have the Genova! It would need carpet tires and the shock oil changing to run effectively on the carpet track, so I haven't had chance to run it yet. However a I see a couple of other people run the Genova regularly and it does really well. 👍 I plan to compare mine to the Dirt Master as they are both similarly priced and much the same design concept.

Guilty as charged! 😅 I'm well aware that I tend to ramble on and on in my videos - something I often openly state at the beginning. What can I say? I love RC, love talking about RC, but rarely get to talk RC in my native language. 😁 I certainly cannot recommend anyone operate heavy machinery while watching anything on my channel - at least not the ones where I'm talking. 😉

Thank you for commenting. 😊 I agree completely. I love Tamiya and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone. But for use at a track, where no one else is running Tamiya and there are no Tamiya "themed" races, it would probably be better to go with something else. I think with the Genova and now Dirt Master, we are starting to see some more affordable mid range kits. Hopefully we'll see more in the future. In Japan, Tamiya remain a hugely popular RC manufacturer and it's common to see people of all ages running Tamiya at their local circuits. Indeed, there are at least two tracks I know of where pretty much everyone runs Tamiya, and not high end, but DT-02/03 chassis, Grasshopper etc. And the motor of choice is the 380. 👍 😁

The Tamiya TT02 BR is not so far off the hobbytech BXR on track if you put the same esc, motor. and tires The advantage of this 2 cars for me if you go to the track only for fun is that that you don't have to use exclusively short battery.

The 2CV is great isn't it! 😁 The owner of the Mid only ran it for a short while where I was there and as it was a shakedown run, he was taking it easy. The Mid had all of the optional carbon pieces fitted plus a 13.5T Le Mans brushless set up. I thought it handled reasonably well, but for the track at Carnosa RC Park, it really needed to be lowered more than the stock front shocks would allow. Out of the box, I don't feel any of the Legendary Series buggies will work well on a modern high grip carpet track. Mostly it's due to suspension settings & tuning - ride height, camber, damper oil, springs etc. They're designed for dirt tracks, built tough, and a little on the heavy side. I think a lot depends on the design of the track, severity of jumps etc. I haven't yet worked up the courage to run any of mine at Carnosa mainly because I want to avoid breakages. (I tend to baby them too much! 😅 ) Also spares can sometimes be a little harder to find. (Conversely Carnosa stock pretty much everything for the Yokomo's and the DT-02/03 and TT-02B.

@@KaiCityRC that's a really comprehensive reply! Thank you, David! Makes total sense. Either run then on what they were designed for back then, gravel, unpacked outdoor courses, or face unsuitable range of operation from the suspension and chassis. Then again, being a "classic" I'd be wary of scraping underneath the chassis, and any other breakages. Probably a bumpy grass like the one on your videos is the smoothest and least aggressive scenario in which they can be enjoyed. Cheers!

I've only fitted pins to the outer positions to replace the screw pins. It's been a while now, but if memory serves I used parts from the DT-02 Low Friction Suspension Pin Set Hop Up. (or possibly the TL-01 Low Friction Suspension Pin Set) I bought several sets of various lengths and mixed and matched as needed.

I'm a huge fan of old-school retro designs, so I'd definitely go with the Turbo Scorpion or Dirt Master /BBX (modern with a retro vibe), Out of the Dirt Master and BBX, the former looks to be superior performance wise, but the BBX has so much character. Any of the buggies you mentioned would be plenty fast with the right motor, handle well on the surfaces you mentioned and look cool too. 👍 😎 High end would allow faster speeds and be more competent, but it comes at a price. I personally don't think I would have bought a high end buggy just to run alone at the park. ☺️ Also check to see how easily spares are to find in your area.

Hi there! Thanks for the question. It's a little difficult to answer, as it depends on so many factors including how big the spaces are you run in, what ESC you're using and ultimately how fast you want to go! 😁 In my case, my 13.5T YZ2 runs 25T pinion and kit spur on a small, technical indoor carpet track. For 10.5T outdoors, try something around 25T and go from there. If you feel it's too slow, try a larger pinion, but keep an eye on ESC and motor temps. With gearing I find it's all about experimentation. Try different ratios to see which one works for you and the electronics you're using. 👍 Hope that helps! 🙂
