After the last video, it was time for a little break with the family around the July 4th holiday. So a little bit of work got done in the shop. Progress was made on the Tamiya Tyrell P34, the Traxxas Rustler was fixed and the Arrma Vendetta was pulled back off the hangers to see the street again. Greg never put the high speed pinion in to do a speed test so you’ll see that happen in today’s video. But during the speed run, something unexpected happened. It hit a higher speed than advertised. Was it real? Watch and you decide!

I believe you hit 80. I got 92 out of mine on 4S but after that the slipper clutch broke off the spur gear. I'm guessing I was braking too hard with it. At first I thought the pinion came loose because I'd hit the throttle and it just sat there and spun. Then I took it apart and slipper pad was broken into pieces. Never seen that before. All I did was add a 150A ESC and the speed gearing. Stock everything else. The stock motor wasn't even getting hot after 2 passes. The 3rd pass is when It decided to break on me. Awesome video! Make it into a 4S ! It can handle the power for sure! Might want to pay attention to the tension on the slipper though. Mine had to have been way too tight..I probably should have checked it beforehand but we live and learn.

It definitely sounded like it went faster in the 80mph run. The motor/gear whine was marginally higher pitched...at least to my ears it was.

Great pass, I hit 73mph with the speed setup...who knows, you could have hit that 80mph but at least you know it hits the advertised speed as all my ARRMA vehicles have done😎

First pass fully charged pack 80mph is possible, next couple passes voltage went down so makes sense with the mph change…

I got the same problem, I don't really have a good place for a speed run/ basher vehicle, bought a Maverick Quantum anyways.... it was on sale:) BTW thanks for the video on the Notorious 3 years ago, convinced me to buy one.

Not sure how it would be a glitch. It would have had numerous satellites on it in an area like that. Tires was just right and maybe just hit a perfect spot in the road etc. Either way, car with the only mod being switching out to the included faster pinion going over 70mph as straight and effortless as that is very impressive.

The trees may have limited the number of satellites the gps was connected to at first. This may have caused the 80 mph reading. That is a big change for it to read 80 then 72.

I think the vendetta is about the best speed car you can buy because it's so fast out of the box and it doesn't seem like it would take too much money or effort to tickle the underbelly of 100 mph. Basically it can be X-01 fast without X-01 money. I've also seen people beat the tar out of the vendetta then drive off like nothing happened.

I didn't read all the other comments so maybe someone mentioned it. It would have been cool to see what the difference the optional spoiler does. So a test with the stock pinion + stock spoiler I think in your other video it gave 57 mph. How much would the stock pinion and the optional wing would add in top speed? Then charge the battery again, change the pinion, add the stock spoiler and do a speed test and then add the optional spoiler which I think you said gave you 72mph. The 80 is another story to try and reproduce and for another topic. My question would be, would adding the optional spoiler with a stock gear be very close to the optional gear with the stock spoiler and how much less mph's would it be (not much) to say you don't have to open the thing up and get the best out of both worlds meaning speed but not really cooking your electronics... Would be interesting to know. Also, do the holes in the body over the wheels act as cooling channels or would taping them up create less drag and more speed? Great Video BTW.

I got similar results using that unit in my RC boat. Had crazy fast passes that seemed to good to be true. Yeah, I'm like you, multiple runs to find the average.

Wow 80mph is fast for a 3s car i like the Vendetta i'm kind of in the market for one but i'm not sure if i should get it as my first Arrma or get the Infraction v2 6s instead. I just recently got in to speedruns and the 2 on roads i have are a 4-tec ford gt and an XO-1 roller.

Maybe. Typically I see a 3-4mph drop-off after the first run. This was 8 🤔

I personally never seen the sky rc inflate numbers. Im pretty ure it did hit 80mph.

80 to 72 to 71. May have been a blip but only way to confirm that is running it again. I only managed 83 on 32T safe d optional gear. Stock electronics. Now I'm curious. I may pop in a 4S lipo on this which I highly advise against to see what it does.

Going slower as the battery drains and esc and motor warms up. It seemed faster on the first run to me. Have fun

Absolutely, but this was a pretty significant drop from the first pass to the second. Then only a 1mph drop on the third pass. Still has me wondering.

70 is possible with the speed gearing. Stock pinion is about 55 on 3s

Not sure on the 80. With the same setup and same battery I only got 69. I then put on a 32t pinion and got 75. Also have the same gps unit

Same here 69 tops. Hit 73 with 30T but it over temp easy. Went back to 26T then installed 6s esc.

Change the esc to a 6s stock Arrma spectrum esc, and you will see 90mph.

Its legit. 80 no fluke .Can you keep it stock for now , wring as much out of it for those interested but, on a budget . (im included ) that IMSA inspired body has been calling me a while now. Nice run ,its Fun when the Tree lines appear closer together , dont it.?

I've had my Vendetta up to 71 mph amd that was with the infraction mega body on it. I've seen 74 with the Vendetta body but I think 80 was a glitch. Regardless this model is a winner.
