I like that this is getting more people into FPV cars, but the camera needs to be mounted off of the chassis and not the body if you want it to be less bumpy. And gotta get head tracking on it next!

I agree with the chassis mount. I put a dji air unit on my Arrma Vendetta and I hard mounted an aluminum bar to my carbon fiber center brace. Cut a small slit in the top of the body for the bar to pass through and mounted the air unit to the top of it. Sense of speed while driving was nuts but you really need super smooth surfaces at 50-60mph even with it hard mounted!

Its better to mount to the roof cut a hole through the front windshield u can 3d print a camera mount or use a woop canopy I did that an I get almost no jello

I hope radiomaster also will make elrs receivers with builtin gyros. As those afhds2a receivers do which helps drifting

There is work being done on elrs gyro pwm receivers being done right now it's for planes mainly but, will work on a car too. I'd give it about 6 months maybe less till we see commercial options give the pace of ELRS, you can add an external gyro module to a receiver right now if you want to try it.

I first started doing FPV with RC cars before Fat Shark even existed so had to buy 2nd hand video glasses & use wireless security cams. A recording from back then: "FPV RC driving from 2006 with a Tamiya TLT-1 truck" Yes very bumpy, but a few years ago I tried mounting the FPV camera on a 3-axis gimbal on an RC car, worked great: "Gimbal stabilised FPV RC car driving"

Hey Stew, Great video and cool car. What's this ? You forgot to add the headtracker. You will want it for sure, I love sticking a AKK camera/tx system in my cars. But I was limited to the stock radio. I just can't wait to get a Radiomaster MT12, thanks Steve for the info on the MT12, Thanks again for the video and information about this rc car and the Radiomaster MT12

I've been racing with my MT12 with ELRS for 2 months now & I'm loving it. I've been racing cars for 30 years now and flying quads for 10 years. I was sold as soon as I seen it. I was running a high end Sanwa system, the receivers are almost £100, whereas the Radiomaster ELRS receivers are £16.99 to £19.99 the price difference is crazy for more performance and the flexibility of edgetx.

Love more surface fpv stuff! Its a ton of fun and a great way to get more use of your gear! I think there is alot of stuff that could be done with the camera mounts for surface vehicles, like suspended mounts and maybe side to side tracking based on the steering

I love your channel you got me into fpv about 5-6 years ago but my house was broken into yesterday while I was getting my kids at school among the things stolen was my storage tote with all my fpv gear a fly egg 100 my lizard 95 and my goggles most of my batteries motors transmitters ( I was cheap had an old fsi6 flysky and a frsky) and some of the original stacks from the egg and lizard but it sucks I had bought most of it before my kid was born and it's like old stuff so I can't replace it I don't think but I'm probably out of the hobby now at least for a good while nevermind the other stuff stolen but just sucks.....either way thanks for doing what you do and thanks for all the content through the years

Sorry for off-topic. Help me please with a choice of FPV camera and VTX for a 5" quad(analog). Something decent/good(not the best and most expensive), better than i have(Foxeer XAT600M и Eachine TX526 600mW). Also what antenna and where to buy for goggles. Thanks a lot!!!

I have an Scx 24 with fpv mounted behind the windshield nothing exposed in case of a roll over or tumble, rocking a Radiomaster er5c for that unlimited Elrs range and an mt 12, I went crazy with the build it’s even got a Furitek brushless outrunner in there

I had a similar set up but the fpv system made it top heavy a. Would always tumble so I switch to a traxxas slash on 3s but looking to get a nitro buggy

Just needs a head tracker and servo to look around, also was the camera waterproofed, cars usually need full waterproofing... my v3 died on my grinderino from just flying it on a damp days during winter in Ohio when the Temp wasn't too cold, the video image was just bad one day when i plugged in, washed out and badly pixelated, totally unflyable, opened up the camera and found corrosion

Racers, 1/8 scale 1/4 scale hard pass on elrs. 50lb 36" 50mph truck I think a brand name quality radio is necessary. Same reason heli and plane people use futaba and spektrum. Elrs toy grade.

ELRS is toy grade and Spektrum is quality, lmao wow what are you smoking, is it crack? At least get a Jeti or Sanwa if you want to pretend it's better, it's still not though. ELRS is far more reliable and better performance than any other option, more money doesn't equal better and I've seen numerous failsafes from the "brand name" radios take out thousands of dollars worth of plane. I wouldn't fly Futaba and certainly not Spektrum only fools who probably don't even know how a radio works would. LoRa is literally the most advanced modulation/chip set available in any radio system how can you possibly think that's toy grade when people have flown it 100km+ and the open source means much faster development/bugfix and many more features.

That's nothing.. you do know you can add a cheap FC, GPS and have return to home features on these RC cars?. Done it about 2 years ago. Great fun.

This isn't the most advanced fpv rc car I've seen haha, you need an fc with INAV rover on it for osd with speed and home distance, also adds stabilization, rth and waypoints etc. also pan and tilt headtracking is basically a must.
