Thanks for putting these videos together. I'm just starting out on a 1/8 Hydroplane build (yes the thought process) and can use every bit of help. I have experience building RC planes but a little learning curve in building. Yes, I know, I'm a little behind getting ready for the 2020 season but tend to work quick once I get going. Just wanting to build something that doesn't sink on the first lap!

Well the boat kit showed up today from ml boat works.picked up the MDF bought the clamps afew things I did not have,drill press scroll saw and a belt sander,fun starts tomorrow

MDF stands for maximum density fiber. Only way I know this is because I worked in a cabinet shop. I'm not 100 percent sure of this but that's what I was told.

Medium density fiberboard MDF used it for years building subwoofer enclosures!Heavy as 🤬 but works perfect.If you want lighter with same strength,birch wood is high dollar but saves your back.

MDF=Medium Density Fiberboard, if it gets wet its ruined, cover it in F-glass, paint doesn't work as well with 50/50 wood glue/water mix to seal the end grain, MDF is what is used to make subwoofer/speaker boxes...it has no voids, Parts Express.com sells a MDF roll on black rubber that has some nice texture...its designed to cover the exterior of home audio speakers so it has a nice look HD & Lowe's sells "handy panels" 4'x2', a full sheet is 49"x97" weighs 60+ lbs and is hard to get into anything but a truck bed

Mdf Medium density fiber board ... HDF or bakelight is high density fiber board ... and LDF or your basic sponge like 1.99 desk wood ... Low density fiber board ... not to be confused with chip board ... that is actually stronger than ldf .

MDF MEDIUM DENSITY FIBERBOARD OSB ORIENTED STRAND BOARD NDF NONE DIRECTIONAL FIBERBOARD You are right. It is as far as manufactured boards go, hard to beat for straightness, strength and stability. But don't let it get wet with water. Light misting semi ok. A heavy soaking, bad news. It will be more wavey than a ruffles potato chip. And disintegrate with the lightest touch or bump.

Fantastic Channel! I'm from England. Sorry I'm late to the party but I will definitely be designing (in CAD) and scratch building your newer yellow 'Eliminator' (this jig first) but with your new modifications for the gas version except mine will still be electric. Don't be concerned in a build experience sense, I have had a huge amount of experience building models with balsa and ply etc and 13 years of woodwork experience. My Eliminator Hydroplane will never be a racer (never say never) so I realise that the one sided bias of weight and offset positioning of the engine and engine-well and a-symmetrical shaping on the sponson's ride pads and the positioning of the steering fin and rudder is to help aid the thing swing round a right hand course at full beans. I however just want mine for larking about in all directions on a lake. So, with that said, how would you suggest I go about this? Should I do away with the steering fin or introduce a central one neerer the front or 2 smaller ones on the side? I guess theres also the engine torque to consider so maybe offsetting that is still a good idea???

I have build my first 1:8 scale Jig ! But i think i have the wrong boat-frame- i wright you on Mr. i Need the frame of the yellow one- but, Now i would have the blue one, but ! 1:6 for a Turbiene Hydroplane! ( i have beginn with the ul19-but not with the stock Setup, i give her 300A Enc- and a 6 Pole with 2x8s 5500 - 2x50C and Now it goes wild-but real , thx ul19 from Pro Boat is heavy as .... S.h.. ! for 500€ and 260€ Akkupacks the 400€ Enc and the 6 Pole Engine for 280€, if i seen your Video, i had NEVER make this mistake! Dont get me wrong, ist a nice Boot from stock, but underpowerd, and mutch to heavy! I dont know what i pay for shipping-but all together- i had make a mistake! But know i get in to the BUILDING of this 1-8 Scales HP.pb. ! But , i had snap of it gives a 1:6 scale allso!? , for a Turbiene Hydroplane perfeckt (?) , can you pl.send me the Number of a 1:6 Frame build- Wood would be nice! Thx for all YOUR Tipps und Tricks, this had insp. me& i Now with your exzellent Videos i can make it! So i Build Hotliner - like the Venom, and Fierblade of 18s ! Hey Scott - Steve here at SMBC in the UK. Have been watching a few of your great videos on hydro construction. I’m about to build a 1/8 nitro so interested in your jig - did you consider that the 2 extra pieces on the top could be cut as part of the 4” uprights rather than add-ons so they would be perfectly aligned vertically? Then 2 cutouts on the top flat bit. Once I get started I’ll send some video of my jig.

Must of looked now for 2 weeks to find files for one of these to cut parts for one of on the cnc router. Swear to god at this point they don't exist kind of disappointing. Way to lazy to figure all the parts out! Lol
