Most RC esepcially as highly detailed as these, are built. Just engines alone cost a few grand to buy, not including other parts. Majority of the guys flying them, are either retired pilots (commercial, military, and etc) that just have money and time to do this as a hobby. Also, they have many competitions, with rules an regulations for what can and cannot be used to build such models. Winners walk away with a few tens of thousands. Needless to say, it's an expensive hobby lol.

Those are turboprop. Basicly a turbine driving a collective pitch Prop over gears

Impressive! Just like formation flying I have seen at airshows featuring the USAF Thunderbirds and U.S. Navy Blue Angels. I assume the planes are turbo-props, given a turbine is driving the propellers if these amazing model planes.
