Wish they had had that kit when I started reloading. But, I got mine from an estate that I knew of for very few $$$, it had everything an old reloader would collect for over 40 years including a pickup load of components, more stuff to cast your own bullets and 40 years experience. The previous owner was my mentor into reloading, spent over 5 years with him and his equipment. Sent the press and other pieces back to RCBS and had them renew everything. I am now thinking about passing my reloading equipment on to a young person who I have been mentoring for 6 years, she will use it, abuse it and have it for a lifetime. This all started for me 50+ years ago. Continue with the teaching, it is not only a money saver, but a relaxing way of spending time with great friends and maybe even your family.

The kits have come a long way since my first Rock Chucker kit many many years ago. It looks like a great kit. Getting scales and a hand primer tool with Allen wrenches really puts this kit over the top.

I’m doing a ton of research before I buy anything to start reloading. I’m really leaning towards RCBS gear, very high quality across the board for their products. This kit would be a great start for what I’m planning. Definitely top of the list for me. This is by far the best channel for no nonsense info of many brands and methods. Keep up the great work!

Gavin, I think I have finally found what I have been searching for to get started reloading, thanks! Also, a big thank you for the 'heads up on Cheaper than Dirt. I just received an e-mail from them (and unsubscribed) and CTD is selling 124 grain FMJ 9mm for $59.98 per each 50 round box! My local Sportsman's Warehouse got some of this in last week and they were selling it at $14.99 per same 50 round box; the same price as before. I will never buy another thing from any store that's gouging, I will remember!

I started loading very young and still run original RockChucker presses. I have gifted these sets to friends who didn’t start their interest till late in life. All I can say is they won’t outlive their RCBS tools and the new presses have evolved with improvements. This is a great set for starting someone out with tools that are not so junky that they are destined to throw them away. These are all good starting points that will last as they upgrade here and there.

Some things that I noticed and saw as improvements. The uniflow powder handle; nice contour. All of the shell holders in the kit are nice. I like the new powder stand, that extra height in mounting. The powder trickle stand is a cool idea and I can't remember when I needed that but I know I ran into that problem once. I like the whole kit overall. Love the design of the new press. Great kit. A tip for using the RCBS bullet puller. If you ever break the o-ring on the case collet don't worry you don't need it. Just take your shell holder for the case your pulling and put your case in that and put it in the puller and screw the cap on over it and give it a smack. Thats all i use now. Never replaced the o-ring for the collet.

I don't usually go for kits myself because many kits have bargain basement tools that you would quickly outgrow. this kit however looks like it has a good set of tools that would take quite awhile to outgrow. Hello Gaven, looking forward to seeing the difference between this press and the other presses that you did analysis on in the shootout. In that shootout, when you got to the better brands or more expensive press, it seemed that their was little appreciable difference. All the was from a hornady , rock chucker, big boss, sumit, to the German designed press was all generally the same as far as precision levels. Having said that, this being bigger beefier, might have some sort of effect, but the working mechanics is what I'm interested in.
@daviddraper476
@daviddraper476 Год назад
I think your video of 14 press shootout were your compared presses use, machine quality, finished bullet runout gave me a good idea of RCBS quality being passed from press to bullet. The grease fitting just let me know RCBS is not playing around about building equipment that lasts. Something we need to get back too. I’ll be buy the Rebel very soon. I’m familiar with Mid South.

As with any kit I come across, there are better choices for some of the components. As this is a single stage press it starts off skewed to rifle loading. The things I like... the press (in a big way), the tray-based primer system (I HATE tubes), the array of shell holders, and the loading tray. I'm just not a fan of the dial calipers or the digital scale. I would've liked a digital caliper and an old RCBS beam scale. With no experience I can't comment on the powder measure or case prep stuff. But starting out not knowing anything, this is probably a pretty good way to start.

Have a bunch of others now and a few dillon progressives. But the one I'll never get rid of is that Chucker! Been thinking about getting the Rebel and moving the Chucker to a "second" press just bc I'm wanting something new. RCBC is great stuff. There is higher tier out there but for a basic SS press don't think you are going to find a stronger, more dependable, more accurate or longer lasting press. Especially for the money!

I am a big fan of companies who stand behind their products with warranties and customer service that is good like RCBS, Dillon and Hornady. I bought a used RCBS rifle die from a guy who let me know the neck sizer was damaged and the depriming pin needed to be replaced. I called up RCBS to see how much the parts would be letting them know I had bought the die second hand. They sent me the part I needed with a bag of depriming pins and would not take my money. I had bought a Dillon Square Deal B press. I loaded 100 rounds with it when the priming system quit working. After an hour on the phone with tech support without figuring out why it quit working, Dillon sent me a replacement priming system for it. Still would not work. So Dillon sent me a completely different new Square Deal b with a call tag for the broke one. I loaded thousinds of 9mm on it before I sold it and upgraded to an XL650. Equipment from these companies do cost more than Lee, but you get better quality and better customer service.

Would you recommend the rebel or the rock chucker supreme for benchrest quality ammo? Thank you sir!

Yeah but is this as good as the Rock Chucker? The 14 press shot out you just did the Rock Chucker was number 2 and was really reasonably priced. Will it perform as well?

It is a rifle reloading kit without case trim ability. The press is sized for forming rifle rounds. I think that gets confused by New people. It would be frustrating to discover you cannot reload for your rifle. If you are starting with handgun rounds these are an expensive way with pieces you do not need. I viewed the opening on the video and it looks really large. The hand primer should be their one that does not take shell holders. The trickler is a really well designed product. The features it has are not really reviewed or marketed very well. A review on the digital scale and new powder measure will be nice.

all RCBS press kits should come with an accessory base plate 3.

The kit is full stuff that is not good for precision reloading, but better simply costs more money. I would rather buy quality the first time over having junk that will just sit around later on.

I might just be old but I would rather have a balance beam scale. I don’t trust digital. Both included would be great.

Can the press prime the case like the Rock Chucker or do you have to use the hand priming tool? Confused on this front.

Looking at reloading .44 and 45-70 would this press do both?

Dos anyone have any idea when RCBS will have their pro chucker 7 back in stock? Been asking them for over 2 weeks now and no answer.

I still want to know the position of primer exit hole at the bottom of the stroke/ cam-over. This is critical as the contamination of ram and bearing surfaces with primer crud is to be avoided.

I would assume the shaft of the press is hollow, allowing the spent primer to drop straight through without any contamination of bushing contact surface.

@@eg6713 I have plenty of primers, He started the video by saying he partner up with RCBS and goes on promoting the product ( which I think it's great) but it's not availaible, it just bad business....
