Rocker Slider installation on my Tacoma. In this episode we drive in the middle of the night to Denver to buy RCI Offroad's Rock Sliders, install them to the sounds of Benny Hill music, and do a walk around while Marley stares forlornly out the window.

For those square inserts (when you're playing the benny hill music) is really easy. Screw the bolt a few threads into the square insert, and apply some sort of thick glue around the edge of the square insert. I used "landscape" glue. Work the square piece into the hold and seat it. Unscrew the bolt and proceed. Even if the glue doesn't dry, it's thick enough to hold the thing in place while you get some threads into it.

I had to use a jack for installing rock sliders on my Jeep. Used a jack and stud as you showed. Waiting on my sliders for my Taco, this time my buds will help.

Excellent video, you focussed in on the bits I was questioning after having crawled around and done some recon before starting the install. Yours is seriously the most thorough I have seen, RCI could stand to update their install guide with some of your tips. Thanks again!

Pic here: i.postimg.cc/pd2xv9hx/IMG-7781.jpg Similar to yours, I clamped my sliders to my jack stands so they moved as a unit, was not worried about the wobble. After viewing your challenge with the forward reinforcing plate fasteners I figured out an alternative method. There is a hole in the frame that allows you to insert a screw driver and hold the mounting plate from the rear. Made the job much easier for me. Also, you can sense ignition at the AC fuse under the hood rather than having to go through the firewall with a second wire. Thanks for the comprehensive guide. I found it very helpful

I think sometimes I am just a glutton for punishment and was determined to get that bolt on the hard way no matter what. And, I couldn't figure out a way to access the fuses without undermining the integrity of the box itself, so I went fishing. Thanks for letting me know of an alternate!

I found a video that shows how to remove the input port to the fuse box so you can insert a sense wire through the factory access point. But realistically, if I have a problem with water intrusion into the fuse box at the top of the engine bay I will be swimming anyway. :-)I really enjoyed your Switch Pro video and after watching it (my first exposure) I bought one and put it in my Taco. Great product.

Thanks! I have the same truck (2018) and color. I just ordered the same sliders but I opted for the ones that don’t bend up so my wife can use it as a step. These were recommended by a friend. They were about $975 with shipping. The shipping was $100.

Thank you for the awesome vid. Do the sliders poke out further than the door panels? Wondering if it'll protect against a car next to you swinging their door out.

Thank you. They do stick out farther and if the car next to you lines up just right it will put a nice ding in their door if they're not careful.

I just installed mine yesterday and all I could hear was that Benny Hill Music. I stuck a screw driver in from one of the sides to pin it down and was able to screw them in that way.

I'm 5-9 and yes, sometimes they do, though you get used to it.

Was it less expensive to pick them than having them shipped? I understand you had planned an RCI factory video, but if this were not the case, would you have had them shipped? Just discovered your videos.

Shipping as I recall was $250! So I spent time and $40 in gas and picked them up.

Bolt on bottom of frame rail is STUCK! Using an impact driver, and still can’t get it off. What did you use?

Was the Plate bolt at 4:46 the first bolt you put in to attach/hold the slider to the frame? I'm doing mine in the next couple of days..not feeling confident honestly

@@JohnTYoung Thanks John! One video I saw said to put the plate on last...so I'm trying to work out what to do first (after dis-attaching the things). I'm going to start with the driver side to get it out of the way. Really wish RCI would put out a step by step video for us noobs.

@@Floki1624 It's really not all that hard, as I recall. Just get a jack under it that can hold it in place while you wiggle it around. It's way too heavy to hold up by hand.

I know the 5 degree sliders are pretty good protection against door dings how would you say these compare? Also would you prefer say a 25 degree angle so it’s not as difficult to step over on the way out? Thanks

At 20 degrees these will sit a little higher (at the same height as the sill) and be a little closer to your door. My opinion is that these will protect your door better, but at the cost of making it more difficult to get in and out of your truck. You have to make a conscious effort not to touch them with the back of your legs on the way out. They are really bad as steps. If you have kids or pets you're worried about, I would recommend the 5 degree sliders with inserts. Having said that, I love my set up.

@@bassage13 It would make them safer as a step, but at 20 degrees and sitting at the same height at the door sill, they still make bad steps.

To hold it up while I bolted it on? I suppose I could have, if I had a magnet strong enough. And a way to attach it where it wouldn't be in the way. Give it a try and let me know how it works out so next time I have to do this I don't smack myself in the face again. The help would be appreciated.

Not from just the sliders. But the combo of sliders, skid plates, and cap made the truck ride pretty soft.

Stock suspension? I have the RCI front skid and wanting their sliders. I’m in 5100s, 887s, and ICON AAL.

@@rotaryracing1982 when that video was taken the suspension was still stock. Now, with the Kings it rides like a stadium truck. The extra weight just makes ride smoother.
