Correction: The reverse freefall coaster also does not have a support limit.
@marijndevries2654
@marijndevries2654 5 лет назад
I think these coasters have a limit, but that is the limit the game can handle. I think around 170-200 meters, but I'm not sure.
@MarcelVos
@MarcelVos 5 лет назад
@@marijndevries2654 The biggest height difference possible in the game is 187.5 meters or 125 units (probably actually 127 units but this is the highest drop height I can get with the no support limits cheat). It's indeed possible that the support limit of these coaster types is set to 150 units or something. Once OpenRCT2 gets its own save format we might be able to find it out if they are able to raise the height limit of the game.

does anybody who has these opinions of theses rides know how to design a rollercoaster properly? I have a side friction coaster with high high medium stats saved in my designs. I enjoy the side friction because it's simple to build with and i can actually make exciting side friction coasters.

The "Giga Coaster" is actually Intamin's name for their cable-lifted hypers like MIllenium Force and Intimidator 305, which is why it has that special element here. Those LSM "boosters" are actually used extensively in their Blitz designs, which _do_ feature inversions (Cheetah Hunt and especially Maverick are good examples of this). The triangluar track sections in the game were, until recently, shared between most Intamin designs. (If I don't miss my guess, the pneumatically-launched Accelerators will also have that track style.)

Ah, the Giga Coaster. I have a strange love/dislike relation with this thing. I like how large you can make it, and that it's in my eyes the "Final Big Coaster" of your park. But the fact that it ends up fast makes it difficult for me to design it so it loses enough speed to enter station safely without the use of brakes. It's a personal preference, I know, but bad flashbacks of Brakes Failure. I also think this coaster is almost insultingly easy to get a good rating on. You actually have to go out of your way to get a bad rating. But again, weird personal preferences on my side. I suppose we might see Giga Coaster's awesome little brother, the Spiral Coaster soon? That's also a coaster that's very easy to get a great rating on and it also has a unique lift hill. Great video as always!
@reillywalker195
@reillywalker195 5 лет назад
If you're worried about brakes failures, just use block brakes. For large designs, put a block brake at the end of your mid-course brake run and just behind the station. That'll keep the trains from crashing into each other and let you safely run multiple trains without a long station. It'll also make your coaster more realistic.

For real world comparison Giga Coasters really ARE much more exciting per amount of nausia and intensity. When I rode Millenium Force at Cedar point when it first opened I was amazed at how a coaster that barely roughs you up could be so exciting. This is always done though sheer speed, and this is one place where RTC2 clearly is realistic.

If you build a large steep slope up (or the 'smooth' steep up) right out of the station you can build a cable lift and it will work, but it takes up extra space and makes the cable lift take just a tad longer to get to the station. Another cool thing about the Giga Coaster is you can actually make it a strata-coaster (400+ feet tall). I built a design that is the 420 feet tall, the tallest you can build it in standard RCT2 (I don't have OpenRCT2). Your designs are awesome, btw! You're really good at making coasters!

Steel Twister Coaster is my favorite. Especially in ORCT2 as it includes the Floorless and Stand-up Twister as train types, rather than individual attractions, so your build menu isn't as cluttered and you can use the large variety of special track pieces for all of them. Speaking of which, you haven't done a ride overview of the Steel Twister yet, have you? Also, can you do a ride overview of the Wooden Coaster? You did 5 useful designs, but I don't recall you going over the requirements and track pieces. I often end up with wooden coasters having 1.5 higher intensity rating than excitement rating. I wonder what the parameters are for optimal design.

this is insane, great vid. those ride overviews will definitely help a lot, even though i intend to make my custom (bad) designs, the examples help me understand what i need to make them have good stats. that said, for scenario play, which number of excitement should i aim for in my rides? is there a certain value where "anything greater than x is unnecessary"? once again thx for your vids
@MarcelVos
@MarcelVos 5 лет назад
For casual scenario play the stats don't really matter all that much. Higher is of course always better, but the scenarios are easy enough that you don't have to pay attention to them. I also often make my own way too expensive custom designs, which is just a more fun way to play. It differs a bit per coaster type, but generally, it's not all that useful to shoot for anything over 8 excitement. With the giga that number is a bit higher and with coasters like the standup it's of course a lot lower.
