Islam and Khabib are two different people/fighters. Islam doesn’t even come close to being as well rounded as Charles. Stop hyping up Islam who hasn’t even fought anyone in the top ten.

@Morano You seem to lack MMA IQ and elite understanding of the sport. I have been watching it for more than 2 decades going back to pride fc, singoku, k1 standup, pancrase in Japan, Abu Dubai, early ufc…..Connor was a pure stand up with elite elite counter striking abilities/power at his height before getting decimated by Khabib with little else on the ground. Charles isn’t close to prime Conor’s stand up and timing/countering abilities. He is just a very aggressive guy who takes advantage of fighters with weaker ground games mentality on stand up getting scared to get taken down by him and he knows will never attempt to take him down. Islam might not be on Khabib’s level or close….or he might just be closer than many think, we just don’t know yet fully as no one in the division has been able to withstand him. I predict Charles will get dominated, not just defeated. You know world class Sambo negates and defeats world class BJJ advantages if you are elite MMA IQ as a fan of the sport going back decades before to pride fc in Japan and as recent Khabib’s exploits in the UFC. You’re disrespecting Islam because you lack the IQ to understand while Charles is an elite aggressive BJJ guy on the ground, he is also a reckless standup fighter most times who can exploit matchups vs guys with weak ground games more scared to get taken down than anything else and who he knows won’t even attempt to take him down on the stand up. Gigantic difference vs Islam. Sambo is all about ground positioning, control & wrestling, submissions, and how to counter submissions/defensive manoeuvring on the ground from an early age. But you lack the IQ so….we will see if Islam is closer to the master Khabib or not. No one has been able to test him so far in the UFC have they regardless of your opinion of them? They have all been dispatched and often quickly and clean.

@Morano I didn’t say Charles had weak striking. He is a very very high level guy due to guys being scared of his submission ground game. But there are levels to this. Read my post carefully. Too many guys new to the sport or with low MMA IQ without a critical eye for the sport running around the net. I said none of the guys he has been fighting (even the real high level ones) recently were a real or in fact any kind of a take down or a control threat on the ground. You fight different on standup when you know the guy you are fighting is more concerned of getting taken down to the ground than striking with you without a disadvantage. I can almost guarantee you Charles will be more concerned about Islam grabbing his waste and rag-dolling him against the cage and on to the ground zapping his energy than striking recklessly with guys too scared to get taken down like Geathje or Poirier etc.

If he didn't fare well against 5'8" Fiziev, he isn't going to fare well against 5'11'+ Islam, who is the best wrestler in all of the 155 field. But Islam is more than a wrestler; his Muay Thai and Charles Muay Thai are elite levels, even if they fight somewhat differently. Whereas Charles fights typically in a classical Muay Thai stance, very tall & walking straight forward (because with a next level BJJ, Charles doesn't have too much fear of being taken down by 99% of fighters), Islam bobs and weaves like a western classical boxer. But Islam's knees, elbows, and kicks are fluid exactly like the lassical Muay Thai fighter. Islam also has no fear of being taken down, due to his next level wrestling, so while he doesn't walk aggressively forward to get punched over 3 significant strikes per minute like Charles (Islam absorbs only 0.84 sig strikes per minute, the lowest in the UFC), he can kick as well as the next best kicker. Short answer: no, a prime RDA struggle against a mostly wrestler Khabib, he has next to no chance against a naturally bigger, taller, and elite stand-up guy like Islam who is at least as good as Khabib in the wrestling department, even if Islam wrestles a bit differently than Khabib. Khabib, for instance, likes to scare people because he WOULD chain wrestle until he got you down. Islam, on the other hand, takes you down almost every time he goes for a tackle. Islam also uses the fence less systematically than Khabib.
