I'm a huge anime fan especially when it comes to DB, but Superman is just so broken it's crazy. Every writer for the Superman has made him accomplish insane feats that it would probably need Goku to achieve Sun Wukong level to actually beat him. I did prefer this one compared to the first two because both showed great respect to one another and created a friendly rivalry compared to all the intense biased fans we have in real life

I think the one main thing that is completely overlooked, is stamina between Superman and Goku. Superman gets tired quickly IF he amps up his eye beams vs Goku, lets be real, Goku will be tired waaay before Superman. So, in other words, Superman would've won or eventually win regardless. Even if somehow the fight dragged out, Superman would win.

Everyone is calling Superman "Broken" but can't see how broken Goku is. Lemme explain: Goku was created in 1985 and only has 38 years in development. had Goku been created back in 1938, he'd be THIS strong in 1976. That would still leave 47 YEARS of development to get to 2023... imagine how strong he'd be then...

Yes Goku has trained since birth, but that only helps him in terms of skill, which Goku clearly outmatches Superman in, but Superman has been alive for literally 1,000's of years. He not only has more overall feats than Goku, but also has fought extremely powerful beings more often than Goku has. There's no character in the DBZ universe that Superman wouldn't be able to defeat, and there's no feat of Goku's that would be impossible for him either. Goku can't travel at the speed of infinity, Goku can't time travel, Goku can't resist being atomized, Goku has been killed by FAR lesser attacks than what it takes to kill Superman. I say all of this as someone who hates Superman, but the unfortunate truth is that Goku wouldn't be able to defeat this version of Superman. He'd fight hard, but ultimately nothing he can do would significantly affect Superman.

This is one of few times Superman didnt have to hold back and really fight. That is really the reason he enjoyed fighting Goku. And Goku saw this the opportunity to fight someone stronger than him so Goku can keep learning and get stronger himself.

I think Marks opinion on how every character should have a drawback is really interesting. It seems like it should be just fundamentally true, and I think I agree with it 99% of the time, but not here. The reason why I like superman much more than other superheros(which I generally don’t like very much) is because he is invincible. His story is not one of trying to become a god, its one of a god living amongst men. The fact that he IS the strongest is why his pure, good heart is so important. Unlike Goku, who is a man trying to become a god(which is not a bad thing I love original dragonball), Superman is a God trying to be stay human. Its rarely done well, but people who are the strongest can be good. Another good example is Yujiro, who is so far above the rest of his universe in power that literally everyone else stopped challenging him. Its his overwhelming strength that gives the series its direction. Anyway just remember that discord from my little pony solos everybody in anime and comics easy. So there is no real point in comparing different universes to each other.

Superman is written into his stories to be the good guy with any levels of power to confront any level of conflict which basically has a baseline of multiverse levels of power because comic writers had to use the concept of a multiverse as plot devices in order to write themselves out of corners to change direction to popular demand, allow different companies to retcon stories after switching of copyrights and authors being changed. Dragon ball is an at least semi cohesive story that needs to retain a linear growth of power for confronting stronger enemies while allowing room for growth of the main character to confront future threats. It's comparing a fan fic ridden series characterized by willingness to break continuities (yet all the while the authors want to insist it is a single story because they don't want to give up past story points to go back to for endless milking) to a story that has retcons that can be counted on one hand. Of course the prior is going to have greater feats because there is no expectation that past events have future consequences so they can just be as ridiculous as whatever author writing at the time can imagine, whereas Toriyama is the singular author and has to actually pace his story while the only non cannon story, super heros, barely exists in terms of content compared to the main series.

The issue is that fans equate how "awesome" (or what ever word you want to use) their favorite character is with how strong they are. So they go on the defense with statements like "Superman can beat Goku". That's fine, that alone doesn't make Superman a better character.
