JACKSONVILLE , FLORIDA ~ 3:30 PM (EST) Here I am arriving Jacksonville aboard The Silver Meteor. I am on Fall Recess from College and my Boss has granted me time off from my Railroad Chauffeur job , with Conrail. I have shown my credentials and have been granted continuous , access to The Amtrak Property .
The second section from Miami is set to arrive soon and will be coupled to this section from Tampa. The trains used to join at Auberndale.
After the trains are together , it's time to depart for New York City .
Our train is all on the straight track and everyone has their seat belts on for the Rocket ride...

Does not get any kooler than this. Straight track, shave and a haircut, two engines hooking up a third baggage car, meeting a freight, communication, moving north, Can 't beat it.

Great, TERRIFIC Cab Ride aboard the F40PH & the Silver Meteor!!! I intend to submit this to a couple or three AMTRAK Groups that I belong to!!!

This is back in the days when I worked for Amtrak. LSA out of Boston and worked all the trains. THat old equipment was something else, we ran it on the Lke Shore Limited and it had many many miles on it, we didn't have Amfleet 2's just old coaches. One good thing was when I was deadheading I would ask to ride in the head end, back then it wasn't a problem and it was always a different way to see the road. I loved that job, got injured and ended up in station services selling tickets, big weekly pay cut and I didn't stay much longer, I got nowhere with HR as the prick there didn't like me nor I him. Love those old locomotives. Thanks for sharing.

its crazy even well into the 90s the Silver Meteor still was holding a 24hr schedule from NY to Miami. its takes close to 29 now.

Do you have anymore cab ride video of that trip? There are not many cab ride films of the CSX coastal route. Thanks again for posting this video.

Farmcop1 Hammond B3 Rhodes SV1 Most cab rides are not Class 1 railroads. Only ones I found that are class 1 freight lines are CSX, Ferromex, and other excursions. Like N&W. Or SP.
