amtrak cab ride from kirkwood mo to washington mo august 10th 2005 amtrak train 303 now 313 on the Union Pacific Jefferson City Subdivision enjoy inside engine 150.
Thank you for an experience I've secretly wanted all my life. As a child, the train was a family member. And the roundhouse is a cherished memory. Needless to say, when the carriages were parked for cleaning and the box lunches were given to us poor kids, that was often the only meal of the day. Homeland security makes hanging around a train station these days a no-no. My how times have changed!
That is some smooth track work as your unit hardly swayed. Neat seeing a double track mainline with some miles to it, especially considering that back in the 80s the Class 1 railroads were bent on single tracking as much of their mainlines as the could.
An even earlier cherished memory involving trains is this. To get into Sherman, TX., from White Wright, which was said to be at that time "the country," the poor hitched a ride aboard the caboose of the Katy which came down into Texas from Missouri. That was my first experience with train "travel."
Hey! I love this. I hope the Amtrak engineer didn't get in trouble for this. I would love to see a cab ride all the way to Kansas City. I heard some sad news that these may be gone. Yep, this was the Ann Rutledge.
skeetjeffcitysub86 why do you keep repeating your self on how you got the opportunity to ride in the cab????...From the first question that was asked I myself understood why you are in the cab...
Gladys Daniels why do I repeat myself? Bc people keep asking me how I got the cab ride my friend was a road foreman at the time I did this video and I got permission im not saying his name its privacy act but glad i got the opportunity for my photography class
@NuggetUnit 1. they have probably been sitting for awile so they will want to walk around 2. They can check for defects in the passing train. then when they return to the cab they will inform the other engineer via radio
Keep in mind that the cap in the P42 is raised higher than the average cabin in a commuter cab car. because its higher off the ground, it seems slower than it actually is.
AOKAS (auto rack train) = Oklahoma City-East St. Louis Auto. First letter is train type, next two are origin, last two are destination. There are exceptions as UP does have 6-character train IDs, usually on coal, grain, and ethanol trains.
Flinch xI its a P42DC Genesis locomotive its hard to hold a video camera still especially when the rails are real bad and the engine bouncing also look up amtrak Genesis cab on Google and tell me where to put a camcorder with a tripod I had to take the tripod off bc it wouldn't work so I had to put the camcorder on top of the computers in the cab where the display screens are by the radio
I love cab ride videos, but may I give you a tip for future videos? Please set the cameras' focus to "Manual - Infinite"...that way we can all enjoy the view without feeling like we've been drinking the night before.
Nice green countyside! Great view of the windshield wiper! Never thought to check aim? How does the engineer know thathe first grade crossing was "Quiet Zone"? Doesn't know how to time and sound a proper grade crossing horn sequence? Why no horn for the non signaled crossing at 15:45? 19:26 Why horn AFTER the crossing? 26:25 no warning for any idiots crossing through the train? Expensive cuts through all that rock. Thanks for posting this.
I can't wait to be an engineer one day, I'm going into a conductor training program next year with hopes of one day becoming the engineer... Life long dream... How hard is it to understand the radio on board?
It's a P42 because 1: You can't see a front hood 2: The cab interior is cream, which is in all of the Amtrak P42's. I'm not sure about the F40's but...
its a rollby inspection they check to make sure nothings wrong with the train since those defect detectors arent very accurate like sparks on roller barings etc... or people on the train
I have this Amtrak in cab ride video that I'm watching part 1 and 2 the cameraman did a great job he keeps it focused straight ahead better than that Union Pacific in cab ride video
