RE Himalayan 450 | Conset Noise is Actually another Issue | Production Line Error!!

Hey
So here it goes. Since the day I got this bike I was hearing a thud, a noise from the front section while going over bumps.
First thought was that maybe the perennial coneset issue that had plagued the 411 has been carried forward to 450 too.
I checked the conset and it was fine. Next was checking all the nuts and bolts in the front section because it now felt more like something was loose.
Finally saw the tank mounted incorrectly. Yeah, it was quite a shock.
New bike, coming out of production line like that.
Not sure if mine was one off case or whether there are others having the same issue, so felt like sharing.
Cheers

@@leuheanrede it is common issue with Indian manufacturers, they want to sell as much as possible in short time and make products without proper QC, My brother had first gen Himalayan( now triumph speed 400) all the parts in the bike is changed too much issue but surprisingly we sold it for good price even with 85k Kms Me have yezdi adventure now, rust everywhere and have no resale value My privious bike is honda hornet 2.0 never had any issue always started in single click but same as yezdi no resale value
@leuheanrede
@leuheanrede 5 месяцев назад
That is very surprising indeed mate. But still the first gen was a charming one with carb, makes easier for mods All RE's have a good resale though, but First gen himalayans are gonna go down in the history books for changing the definition of reasonably priced adventure tourers, no matter what ever issues they had :)

To me that isn't a build issue it's either manufacturing of the tank surround or design. The tank is surely supposed to be able to hinge up with that first bolt (under the seat) you mentioned being the hinge pin. Yet the bracket cannot function as a hinge because the 'C' shaped brackets, when properly seated on the rubber, would mean the tank has to slide backwards... something the hinge bracket does not allow. In my mind those 'C' shaped pieces should be facing with the opening downwards. That way once you remove the plastic trim at the front (one bolt and slide out) you would be able to simply lift the front end of the tank.
@leuheanrede

Ant that mate, I exactly whats coming to my mind will upload a vid on that shortly, but yes, you got it right Cheers :)
@elm-neo
@elm-neo 5 месяцев назад
I thought for a second that the pin with the rubber bush at the front might be spring-loaded or something similar, and you could push it forward to lift up the tank. Pushing down the tank would engage and lock it in place. It would be an unnecessary complexity but a fun addition.

No matter how much effort they put in R&D. Makes the brand less trustworthy because of the silly mistakes by few ingorant humans in the production and Service centers. RE should eradicate such human errors in their production. Not only in the production but also from the Service Centers.

WTF! Whose assembling these things? I think, to meet with demand they got newly trained inexperienced employees in chennai factory to assemble these, This is such a huge oversight from the QC team. OR... do you think maybe they intentionally assemble it like that to fix an obvious engineering fault instead of taking time to fix it. It look like the tank got lowered quite a lot! Is this the reason why few Himalayan's tanks overflow when kept on the side stand with a full tank!? Anyway if this was the issue then shamefully a lot of brand new bikes got gutted, tortured and overtightened by SVC mechanics for no good reason. I'm probably gonna cancel my booking as waiting to see these issues resolved is only bringing out more issues unfortunately...😂
@leuheanrede
@leuheanrede 5 месяцев назад
"newly trained inexperienced employees" Yup, that would be my guess too And yes bike was looking huge with that setting, intimidating aswell if I may say so, getting the tank filled to brim made it even more heavy to lift of the stand. Hard to say what exactly happened, this is indeed a complicated design, I have an understanding of why they did it but could have been executed better.
