Gave him long reins and loads of pats. 💕 It ofcourse didn’t go as he wanted to but I got so happy to see that he didn’t put that disappointment on his horse. @JohnDoe-um8td
@JohnDoe-um8td 5 лет назад
Kaylin McCarthy now imagine firm pressure on your nose bones that comes and goes as a rider pulls. Bitless is only for riders who are very skilled and experienced. Bitless is more dangerous than with a bit, it's quite easy to pull too hard and hurt the horse (breaking the fragile bones on the tip of the nose is extremely common with bitless bridles). Bit is safer and less painful in most hands. You just have to teach a young rider how to use it safely straight away. A human's mouth is different to that of a horse, so trying to compare is rather pointless.

Michael W. is one of The Great's. World and European medals. plus lots of big wins e.g. x 4 Hickstead Derby's ( all on ISH bred horses: Monsanta x 3 and Owen Gregory x 1). Difficult to find them Top Irish breds now that's why even Irish riders are riding DEU., or FRA., or NED. or BEL., breds. The Great Irish-breds like STROLLER ( for me the greatest jumper that will ever jump a fence "'68 Olympic Sliver" over the biggest 2nd round Olympic course ever built, which Stroller & M.C. only had 1 down, a massive fence. Type 1968 Olympic Fence into Google Image search to see Bernie Traurig (USA International rider) standing inside that very big oxer. But Stroller & Marion Coakes "very bravely" took on that massive 8 fence 2nd round after going clear over the 1st round Olympic course. So just 4 faults ( 1 fence ) behind "SNOWBOUND" & W.S. (USA) who won the '68 Olympic Gold (Ind.). Snowbound was a 16.0 hh ( 1.63 m ) full Thoroughbred, dark bay, gelding, ex-race horse ( Flat racer, not N.H. jump TB - the USA flat bred Thoroughbreds also won '84 Olympic Golds ( Team & Ind.) again a 16.0 hands TB "Touch Of Class" a bay, mare. You just need your horse in Top Form for one big win ;-)

@@elsamoore8245 depending on how the user wears it, it can actually be really damaging to the horses nose and sinuses. You need to have soft and sure hands to use it properly. Of course, bits carry their own issues(cut tongues, sore mouths, etc), so you just have to determine what’s best for your horse and for yourself.

Responsible riders will do it if their horse refuses or knocks more poles than is characteristic of them. It often means that they’re feeling some kind of pain, stiffness, or other issue, and the really good riders will retire the course to make sure their horse is okay. I watched a Grand Prix where a horse ended up tripping right in front of an oxer and crashing through it entirely, hard enough that they snapped a pole. The horse was fine and immediately trotted off, but the rider called it to make sure he was okay.

@kirstyd554
@kirstyd554 5 лет назад
Bitless is actually harsher than a lot of bits as it targets more areas of the horses head whereas a snaffle only targets the mouth area. Bitless puts pressure on the nose cartilage, the chin and the poll therefore it’s actually harsher than most snaffles. I’m actually getting fed up of uneducated people thinking that bitless is better. A bit is only as harsh as the hands it’s in.

@ellajohns245
@ellajohns245 5 лет назад
@@meganproffitt424 there's a huge difference between a "bad day" and "not being ready for Grand Prix". I ride at this level with horses i trained and finished myself. i know how much work and good riding it SHOULD take to ride at this level, and some of these riders don't meet that requirement. They get here solely on made packers and their family's money.
@meganproffitt424
@meganproffitt424 5 лет назад
You ride at this level? That’s cool. So do these riders... A good amount of these riders have ridden in the olympics and WEG. Sure some get here off money and packers, but even with packers you need some kind of fluent riding to get to the level. Also, just because you ride at this level doesn’t mean you can judge them off one round. Like I said. Bad days happen
@ellajohns245
@ellajohns245 5 лет назад
@@meganproffitt424 that's absolutely incorrect. There are MANY riders that have no business competing at this level, even in some 5***** Grand Prixs. WEG has people like this too. It's a points qualification. If you have enough points to go to WEG, you can go. That doesn't mean you're good enough. Just because some of these riders have competed at WEG or the Olympics doesn't mean all these riders belong at this level. That's a pretty stupid comparison to make, considering some of these riders are great, and some of them are subpar - of course the good riders are going to be accomplished. The fact that I ride at this level is the EXACT REASON why I'm able to judge this - I also train horses and COACH riders at this level. I've been scouted for the Olympic Team and the WEG team. I've ridden at WEF. I have the exact prerequisites to judge them - and with your hypocritical reasoning, you don't have the experience to be judging these people, so what gives you the right to say they're good enough and don't need criticism?
@ellajohns245
@ellajohns245 5 лет назад
@@meganproffitt424 the only competitions that weed out all of the riders that don't belong in Grand Prix are the Aachen Grand Prix, the Spruce Meadows Grand Prix, Hickstead, and the Olympics. Those are the only competitions that legitimately require skill to even qualify or to be able to compete.
