The most insane thing about this record is managing to lead the league in homers while playing in comerica park. Truly unbelievable but Miggy was a special player.

I honestly think this is in so many ways more impressive than 73 HR's. This is insane. To hit that many HR's, RBI's, and hit around .330, it's just crazy. Hitting .330 in a season is so unbelievably hard and he did it in a year where he led the league in HR's and RBI's. I don't know if we'll see a season like this anytime soon
@Nhamp2000
@Nhamp2000 2 года назад
I doubt it. The approach to hitting has changed so drastically, it's nothing but pull hitting and launch angle. Miggy came up with 3000 plus ways to beat the shift, including 500 plus of those hits going yard, by going everywhere. That's how you beat the shift. He is one of the last great ballplayers that I actually stopped what I was doing to watch him hit. Plus, he's still a big, goofy kid who loves to play the game and interact with fans during games. Who does that? Miggy. It's his world and we're just living in it. So glad the Tigers traded for him.
@wyssmaster
@wyssmaster Год назад
RBI is an irrelevant stat in terms of individual evaluation. Would you rather have a guy who batted 1.000 on the season with 100 home runs, but hit nothing but solo shots and literally never had anyone on base ahead of him, or a guy who hit 0.000 but drove in a runner with a sacrifice every single plate appearance?

As a long-time Tigers fan---but also as a great baseball fan---I think one of the great moments in this video was when Miguel was taken off the field in Kansas City, having clinched the Triple Crown---and the Royals fans, who didn't much too much to cheer about that year, still gave him a standing ovation.

Ben D and if Davis wasn't on PEDs. They're not steroids but they help you focus and improve awareness. If miggy was on that stuff he would have had more homers every year of his career. More than half the battle is squaring the ball up. If you hit the sweet spot you could be dee Gordon and send that ball on a line out of the park.

I've had the privilege to see Cabrerra play in person. The Triple Crown makes up for no recent WS win in Detroit in my opinion. Thanks, Miggy!

bunch of hipsters. they thought trout deserved 2013 as well lmao even tho the angels were like 74-88 in 13. no respect for amazing hitting.

trout is the better player...not sure what team record has to do with it
@xSKYKILLAx
@xSKYKILLAx 7 лет назад
no he didnt. miggy hit for the triple crown - all trout had was a 30 HR near 50 SB season. a 40/40 season woulda made a stronger case for him

Best pure hitter in the game, Trout may have more tools; but nobody hits like Miggy! #Machine

Unfortunately i was unable to be alive during Mickey Mantle, Joe DiMaggio, and many other true baseball giant's careers... Glad someone like Miguel Cabrera has taken the candle for the best player in all of baseball for the past few decades. Also very glad to be able to say he played for my home team.
